Partying With 3 Dog Night

We have a local bar here in Lincoln that does an open mike night every Monday. I stopped in tonight since my lovely bride was out of town. In addition to the usual suspects, the band 3 Dog Night stopped by and jammed with some of the locals.

They were playing at the Nebraska State Fair and were looking for something to do after the show.

What a hoot!

Awesome, Oak!! How very cool!!

I saw them live at Mud Island before moving to Florida and it has to be one of my favorite concerts I've attended. I can't imagine how exciting it must have been to be in such a friendly, small venue with them just hanging out and jamming with the locals.

"Joy to the World" is the first song I learned all the words to. :biglaugh:

Whew! What a wonderful treat. I'm jealous too!

I got to see 3D in 1974 at the Aquaris Theatre in LA. The show was being taped for "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" (anybody remember that show?). Dick Clark was the MC, and he begged the audience not to light up whatever we had brought while the show was being taped. Of course, the moment he walked off the stage, bics were flicking everywhere!

It was a great performance, with-get this-The Four Tops as the opening act! It was a wonderful night that I've never forgotten. and then gettting to hear it again on TV a oule of weeks later was the icing on the cake. Glad to hear they are still out there.

Local clubs and state fairs. The final resting places for once internationally known rock bands. ((snif)) :(

I've seen the same happen to Steppenwolf, Uriah Heap. and (I think) Iron Butterfly.

(((sigh))) Them were the days, ehh?

It's not uncommon for bands to return to where they started the small clubs and bars sometimes I think they were happier there but the grass is always greener or was that better ? on the other side. You can add our native sons Kansas to Garths list they are on the casino tour these days. Except for Kerry Livgren who you can hear rocking in church around here, and on occasion as a guest with Kansas.

His new project the ones who did not make the cut for Kansas........

Kansas
