Blow up your T.V.

throw away your paper

Go to the country,

build you a home

Plant a little garden,

eat a lot of peaches

Try an find Jesus

on your own

Thank you bulwinkl. It was great to hear Roy Acuff/ Ricky Skaggs/ Jerry Douglas/ Earl Scruggs/ Johnny Cash/ Mark O'Connor/ EmmyLou Harris/ Randy Scruggs/ Chet Atkins/ Marty Stuart/ and the Dirt Band do that tune again. I remember when the first *Circle* album came out, and Roy Acuff was looking at John McEwen (the banjo picker for the Dirt Band then), and commenting on his (John's beard). Roy said something to the effect of "Hmmmm. I've always heard you're supposed to judge a man by the character of his face. How can you do that , if his face is covered with hair??"

Oh - - - I forgot to mention, the first "Circle" album was released in 1972. There was a different set of values *back then*, Edited by dmiller

B flat ~ Alto Sax (nickel plated) my "Baby" .....

Sweet!

I just picked up another horn on ebay. (Bb Buescher cornet)

The ad said it was a mid 1950's model, which was plenty cool with me.

When I got it and checked out the serial number, it turned out it's really a 1919!

It has beautiful tone.

Mine's a Selmer and I have a couple of mouthpiece setups for it,

One for smooth, one for jazzy and sassy.

I tell my friends that ask me to "prove" God exists to sit down and listen.

Good Music is a wonderful thing,... but fair warning! NEVER ask me to sing!

Last September 11th (Yea - - - 9/11) I found a saxophone in it's case, by the curb of a side street near me. I posted in the local paper's "lost and found", and also on the local Craig's List that I had found this thing lying by the side of the road and invited anyone who might have lost it to give me some qualifying remarks about what kind it was, etc., and identify it so I could return it to the rightful owner. No one answered my ads, and I still have the sax. I took it to a local music store, and they told me that given the instrument/ the different mouth pieces/ and the reeds and everything else within the case that it was worth about $1,200 bucks.

I have no idea as to how to get the reeds properly positioned in the mouthpiece (I'm used to strings, not wind instruments), and I'm not sure I want to try to use the mouthpieces there anyway since I "don't know where they''ve been". Does anyone have suggestions about how to practice "safe sax"?

Im lovin my banjo these days-Its definitely doing its part to get me through the lengthening winter.

Here's a delightfully simple little bulgarian tune I found this morning called Trâgnala Rumjana played on banjo

is what it soundslike if you want to 'read it in the original' :) Edited by mstar1

:) you're welcome-glad you like it

I hope that I dont bore everyone else to death but here's just one more banjo tune whose rhythms really intrigue me...

No scenery in this one but a nice little taste of a different culture..Its a turkish folk dance called Rampi Rampi

For me its difficult to play being a beginner..if I imagine playing with a gypsy fiddler while being surrounded by swirlling belly dancers --then its a whole lot easier  :) :P :biglaugh:
