Hey Rocky I would say no GSC is not enough. We are just crowdsourcing recovery here in a community. It will take concerted effort and IRL support groups overall for good effectiveness. But crowdsourcing spiritual topics to me is the essence of the body of Christ in action. Glad to discuss these things with you all.2 points

Maybe you forget that some lurkers have said they came to Grease Spot for a long time before posting. I realize Grease Spot isn’t as active as it used to be - but I assume some may never join or post anything…and I’m probably not the only seasoned Grease Spotter who enjoys reading a substantial and thoughtful post but don’t always quote them or give it a vote up - maybe that’s how some folks on twitter or Reddit find validation with re-tweets and upvotes - not that there’s anything wrong with that. I don’t mean to attack you on this - I merely wonder why you think your comments along these lines are necessary. No offense but I get the idea you’re supposed to be the unofficial critic of all things posted. Yeah - it’s cool to remind people to get back on topic or call out troll-tactics - everyone should do that… …so maybe you find yourself reflecting on whether or not certain posts are even read and further assume no replies or upvotes from newcomers or lurkers means a certain post is worthless. Grease Spot has a unique niche and serves a great purpose. It is the antithesis of the oppressive and manipulative environment of The Way International. So the free rein of intellect and feelings at Grease Spot often gets messy compared to the stifling rigidity of TWI atmosphere. Has it ever occurred to you that some of your ‘running commentaries’ on threads might be counterproductive? I mean that in the sense that it might seem to some newcomers like you’re playing the Twig coordinator wanting to control what everyone shares at Twig - making sure it’s ‘Rocky approved’ for consumption. That might make some nervous and not post anything for fear of reproof. We’re all adults here - and I’ll be the first to admit I can clown around and get off topic - but usually we all get back on track soon. While I’m at it -let me get another thing off my chest. I love you like a brother, respect you like crazy, highly value your constructive criticism and allow you to be in the small group of Grease Spotters who influence my heart…. That being said…Uh oh Please don’t feel like you have to keep reminding me one way or another that my posts are too long or you didn’t have time to read it all. While I have listened to - and will continue to listen to your feedback and every other Grease Spotter - I assure everyone my ‘literary’ goal for drafting a post is to state everything I think is necessary to accurately and honesty reflect my beliefs related to a specific thread. I’m not perfect - I usually feel I didn’t take enough time to refine and edit my thoughts down to something clear and concise - and that’s on me - because I ain’t gonna spend all freakin’ day composing a post until it’s perfect and let the rest of my day go to $hit. As my older brother said as he made a detour to off-track-betting on the way to our parents’ 50th anniversary “hey I’ve got a life too!”1 point

Sounds like a twig coordinator..... preparing people to be spoon fed the pfal class. Or, sounds like wierwille trying to teach dispensation administrations to keep us from receiving the FULLNESS of the gospels that Jesus Christ brought to light.1 point

Yes, twi tried to put higher ranked military men in the spotlight. The exception with military personnel was.... when they were called to duty, their commitment to military service was #1 priority. No messing around. No bowing to twi-leadership. No taking orders from wierwille or martindale. Nope, none of that. These men never needed to kowtow to region/limb guys. If they were on base and unavailable for a pfal class schedule.... nothing further needed to be said. Twi could not employ their fear or guilt weaponry on them. It did NOT work. The boundary lines were set and no amount of twi-wrangling could change it. These military men took their orders from someone "higher" than wierwille. I loved it. .1 point

I blame it on Americans being more gullible in general lol. And no I don’t see Joel Olsteen and his red Ferrari pulling up to the local mission soup lines and serving up meals to the needy. You know who I do see doing that? Dave Grohls from the Foo Fighters. He is awesome.1 point

Did VPW think he understood the Bible better than the writers? Probably VPW thought he understood the Bible better than God, who made the means for the papyrus or paper, the ink and the quill or whatever, with which the Bible was written. But whatever VPW thought is irrelevant to understanding the Bible, so just forget about him.1 point

Also, VPWs “historicity” versions of harmony of the gospel which he didn’t write in JCOP are pretty much snake oil too.1 point

And then, when you collapse from exhaustion or have a fit of the weepies, you get hauled in by the corps coord and asked if you're spiritually up to it, or are you too weak to hack God's work.1 point

Yes, with the social network of the internet in play... it is "so much easier" to exit twi today than in the 70's, 80's or 90's. Instantly, you can find support and friends scattered across the country through a number of networks (ie. Facebook or Friend Finder here on GSC). Somebody generally knows someone who can lead you to that long lost friend or acquaintance. Exit trauma is real, but it can be minimized as long as you keep stretching forward. Do not get caught in a trap of despair or depression. The best days could be right before your eyes. But if you exit twi and STILL hold to waybrain nostalgia and doctrine....then the trap of guilt closes in around you. Reading is good. Humor is good. Walking in the sunshine is good. Getting a dog as a companion is very healthy. LOL Test the waters of new hobbies. Make the precious moments of the present your friend. .1 point

have you heard the one about the terrorists posing as tourists? excerpts from a July 2021 article it mentions the ‘tourists’ at the Capitol on Jan.6. A lawmaker named Clyde described the rioters storming through the Capitol on January 6th appearing to look like a “normal tourist visit” during a committee meeting. Raskin, a member of the select panel, confronted Clyde during a Rules Committee meeting about his previous comments regarding the insurrection, in which he said people “would actually think it was a normal tourist visit” if they had not known the footage was from Jan. 6. “Do you stand by your statement that they were tourists?” Raskin asked Clyde. The lawmaker, however, refused to answer the question, claiming that Raskin had read an “interpretation” of his statement. Raskin then recited Clyde’s statement in full: “Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes, taking videos and pictures. You know, if you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit.” “Those are your words,” Raskin continued. “And I stand by that exact statement, as I said it,” Clyde responded. During the select committee hearing earlier Tuesday, several lawmakers had asked officers about comparisons made between the rioters and normal tourists. Metropolitan Police Department Officer Daniel Hodges repeatedly referred to the rioters as “terrorists” throughout his testimony when recounting his experience of defending the Capitol. When asked by Raskin during that hearing why he used the term “terrorists” to refer to the rioters, Hodges read directly from the U.S. code for domestic terrorism. Officer Hodges reads U.S. Code definition of domestic terrorism to explain why he calls Capitol rioters “terrorists” His response to Republicans comparing them to tourists: “If that’s what American tourists are like, I can see why foreign countries don’t like American tourists” Excerpts from: lawmaker defends ‘normal tourist visit’ comparison for Jan. 6 | The Hill1 point

I agree with the sentiment of STL and you. Now - I don’t mean to give you a hard time – but since I felt like I was in a quandary several times when you’ve said this stuff – I would like some clarification and/or definitive answers. I have reported a few of Mike’s posts before and the moderators have responded in a timely manner to me saying he has not violated Grease Spot forum rules. So, I respectfully submit there are three parameters I would like explained: 1. The statement: “If Mike is consistently ignored” would require an agreement by all other Grease Spotters. Even if it was not a formal agreement – how do you get everyone on board with that agreement, verify everyone has been notified of it, and what is in place to orient newbies to Grease Spot? 2. Is it possible a Grease Spotter might zero-in on one or two points of Mike’s post to expose a fallacy for the benefit of other Grease Spot readers? I’ve witnessed several other Grease Spotters do just that and you don’t lecture them. And sometimes it’s after a whole slew of posts responding to Mike you step in with a general comment to all that implies some Grease Spotters know how to handle Mike and some don’t. I would like clarification on what is the protocol for communication in such situations. 3. What if a Grease Spotter doesn’t think their response to Mike is BS?1 point

Nope. He was not a born again Christian. Not even might have been. He was born Jewish and was into TM. I'm not surprised you don't know this, even though you claim him as a hero. Andy Kaufman made a career of exposing and throughly eviscerating charlatans, including "Christian" hucksters like victor paul wierwille. If you want to find out about Andy Kaufman, you should search again. Or, if you prefer, re-search. Pentecostal Christians in the West aren't the only people on the planet who speak in tongues, whether counterfeit or authentic.1 point
