  1. GEO: your comment: Just, please allow a little room for those of us I never took it away from you geo, and neither have I tried to assert undue influence. Look, there are perhaps only 2 mens books in this life that have really touched my heart. One I think you would find interesting. It's just a short booklet by a man named Sadhu Sundar Sing. In it he claimed to have a heavenly vision. The man died in the 30's or 20's, he was a converted Hindu. I think you would enjoy it.
  2. Invisible Dan: YOur comment: The Parables of Christ were intended to spark people into thinking for themselves. Amen and amen. Preach it brother. Dems good words. refeshing isnt it Dan, to see how individually tailored his words are.
  3. GEO: your comment: Oh, and I guess it's time to throw in the required agnostic response to talk of "The Cross". The cross, as a symbol, predates Christianity by many thousands of years. True it may have been a symbol, I am simply saying that the fact that that "sign of Jonah" hangs on every church whistle and on everyones lapel or whatever they do with it is a "miracle" of God. The sign Jesus painted saying it would be given to a wicked and adultrous generation, is in fact alive as a "sign" today. I dont know what else to say to you Geo, I really don't. I cannot argue about Christ being alive in my life through the power of the Holy Spirit except to say, it is very real to me. Proof Positive to me.
  4. Raf: Your comment: Of course, Wierwille failed to note that the word "learning" in "for our learning" is the same word as "doctrine" in II Timothy 3:16. Thank you Raf. So your saying that after all that "stuff" about the accuracy and integrity of the word, it was comprimised to make it fit like a hand in a glove? Why couldn't it have just been God's (hand) in his glove (the bible)? UFFDA And why even make a division with the church over the trinity? All it does is Honor God, Honor Jesus and Honor the Holy Spirit. Don't you think the only purpose was division?
  5. Geo & Abigail: Here's a thought. Jesus said, " A wicked and adulterous generations seeks after a sign, but there shall no sign be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah" And what was that sign? Jonah sat under a tree after the people of Ninevah were delivered from destruction. So what is the sign, that is given to our "wicked and adulterous generation", I would say the same "sign" , that is the Cross which hangs from every church. I find this to be a miracle. Imagine if a man was slain with a knife, and in "memory" they hung the "knife", that killed him in that persons honor. Wouldnt that be considered rubbing it in his face? Thats the rub with Christ, that cross, everyone must apply it to there own life or hang one in ornamental fashion as tho they are honoring him. Answer me one question. Is the ornamental cross displayed on peoples chests and artifacts honoring him? Either way its a miracle isnt it?
  6. Geo: The first house my wife and I rented after we got married was an unusual brick house which included (at the end of the doorway hall) a stone Buddha statue Invisible Dans comment, (thanks Dan) I told yah I told yah I told yah
  7. Oak: your comment: are you really excathedra? Did you mean me, nope I am not excathedra. If you were talking to me i simply feel mentally challenged tonight.
  8. When you wish upon a star, dont tell me how brave or nerdy you are... You can always wish a wish upon aaaaaaaa Star. Now i am really running out of things to talk about. Off topic too.
  9. I searched the world over and I thought I'd found true love, you found another and puuttzzzz, you were gone. Talk about off topic, go away sky go away.
  10. I looked the World over and I thought I'd found true love, you came round yonder and putttttzzzz YOU WERE GONE. NO i AM NOT mocking anyone neither am i drunk, I just don't have anything to say right now , so I let yah know I am listening.
  11. OAK: And I think what you doing is sorting , but it is possible to know these things oak. And I really feel awful for yah. It is my opinion, Oak , that anything, and I mean anything from man that does not leave a person ending up embracing God and Christ in love, is anti-God. I just dont want you to believe you can find it any other way, cause i know you can't Just a thought.
  12. Eagle: We shall prevail, in his blood, He loved us first, IMO thats all it ever took for me. God Bless also
  13. Bramble: Is it possible for a person to leave Christianity without that person, who is leaving, to have some personal flaw, in your Christian view? I understand that everyone has flaws--but the sense I am getting from you and others, is that anyone who leaves your faith must have a flaw, weakness, fault, did something wrong, never believed anyway etc.. cuz only Christians are ok? Answer to your Question #1) I suppose its ok considering TWI restricted teachings, but I can hardly fault God for you putting him in the review mirror. You and I are unperfected in our view of God. God is Holy, blameless. And I dont know if that answers your question but that is all I can say. I cannot justify, someone who feels vindicated from the absense of God. I simply dont know how to do it. To me thats would be like asking me how is it possible to live without oxygen, his presence is just that vital to my life. Answer to Question #2) Yah know I cant help you feel that way. I never said that only Christians are ok. I have known agnostics who behave more like the Bible says than Christians do and thus reap the benefits.
  14. oak: thy comment: yeah sky, I'm sure I told you oak one time, I wasnt sure that you didnt qualify as one who has faith anyhow. I fail to see how one like you and is trying to prove everything so as not to make any error ; that there is any error in your method. ok oak, I took a stab at it when i said maybe some or all are bitter. The reason is I have known some people who are. I will say this about you then, I dont sense bitterness about you ok? Because I really dont.
  15. Bramble: You know I am really sorry about your experience and I dont have an answer for it. Niether do I have a complete answer why my daughter had luekemia at age 5 or why my wife was in the hospital 50 times the first 8 years of marriage. There is a lot of things I cannot answer. I can however look at my own life and say God has always been true to me. Your comment: As far as being angry with god etc, that is the easy answer for you, isn't it? Keeps it all nice and tidy--those bitter, angry unbelievers. I can certainly dismiss them. Rather than listening to things the folk here have actually tried to express? Not really Bramble I have conversed through it all without being mean , condescending or difficult. I just dont get it. I dont know how pure love can be denied. As far as PFAL being rather appealing to the flesh, that was my experience, that fact that you say they werent like that makes your experience different. And by the way, I have drinks on occasion, I simply mean to say, I never thought that the cross was topical with them Your comment: Is it even possible to leave Christianity with out having some major personal flaw I dunno, I kinda think that sounds like bitterness to me, do you mean every Christian is fatally flawed or is it "All Christians look upon those who leave as flawed? which is it bramble im confused here.
  16. I will go out on the limb somewhat here, expecting non believers and athiests and agnostics to cut of my limb. With respect to TWI, take a personal inventory and ask yourself what was it in you that motivated you to join. I aint saying it was all your fault. It just it always was my view that doctrinally they kinda wanted to appeal to the flesh by saying a lot of stuff was ok when it really wasnt. The other thing is bitterness. Are you folks sure your not just angry at God because he wouldnt do what you thought he oughta? Personally, I kinda think you are. (Dont wack at me to hard I cant say it any nicer.)
  17. Abigail: Your comment: The sin of idolatry has never been completey wiped out. I'd dare say all of us are idolatrous at some point or another in our lives. Me agree. Its covetousness. It's very sneaky too, disguises itself with self rationalization. It's a faith numb(er) also.
  18. Here's my biggest reason for being a Christian: 1) God always always loves me. I cannot fathom this. Even when I haven't pleased him, he loves me. Even when I need a rebuke or correction, he loves me. His rebuke or correction is love, if he didnt care, he wouldnt do it, for I think it's difficult for him in his heart to be disappointing to me. I cannot walk away from this, His love for me is what gives me hope to live.
  19. dmiller: yur comment: Sky -- true. But some say that since Paul says in Galations 1:12 that his gospel came from Jesus Christ, that it supercedes the gospels. (not my opinion) And thats down right funny because why look for a conflict in the two. Thats like saying Jesus opposes Jesus, kinda humorous really. catch yah on a nother thread :D-->
  20. Eagle: your comment: There was nothing in the word "apostle" that indicated anything about "new light". I think your right about that eagle. Interestingly, the Apostles were some of the most abused men in history. What it would mean today I dunno know, but I doubt it would bring any bragging rights with it.
  21. Well it looks like this thread and topic have been done did circumcised. THE END ps IT WAS KINDA FUN WASNT IT?
  22. But this stuff can get really weird Nimrod was a mighty hunter before the Lord. Esau loved his pottage. But did he eat curds and whey too? It says we can eat meat, so we might as well. (Meats for the belly and the belly for meats)
  23. just thinking: Sorry master, I was cleaning your outhouse. It's done though. May I have another? ;-) Or shall I just build you a chalet? Now thats more like it, and next time you'll get a peek at the geek of Greek. eeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
  24. Just thinking: your comment: Tell what to do with my life? Can I move to your house, watch your kids and generally work for nothing? Just tell me vague spiritual sounding sound bites and I'll be happy, oh greek master. ;-) Ah yes my child, and I will appoint a prophet & priest for my king dumb, but then you could not think no more and that would be sad , but oh child, I your guru shall think about your offer, and if you pay your tithe, I may let you oh child on board still no comment from yah, dang, and just when I thought I had yah.
