  1. Yeah, you are right, it was the Anatole Wyndham, not the Renaissance......the Westin Galleria was still better!
  2. Well, hmmmmm, uh........, cough, cough. I don't think they have a better idea. I went to Dallas over Thanksgiving in 1998. The hotel was nice, I had recently had double knee surgery and most of the dang place was marble flooring. I was on crutches, except for those moments I was completely vain. The hotel gave me a complete suite on the second floor, not far from the meeting rooms at the same rate as a double room. Just for the record....I asked them if they gave copies of our room service tabs to twi (back to the beer conversation.) During 98-2001 I spent quite a few 3 week stints in Texas for work, mostly in Houston at the Galleria Westin. This Renaissance wasn't a bit nicer. I think twi must have a really good contract in place, that combined with the fact that the Renaissance must not have much of a Turkey weekend rack reserve. The hotel is very business class.....probably most of their regulars are there on business only, and don't spend their Thanksgivings there. Don't even get me started on how hard the Dallas/Ft Worth airport is to navigate while one is on crutches and shlepping ones own luggage ror
  3. Dave, Yvonne married John Fortmiller of the 7th corps. I have no idea if they are still married or not....but Fortmiller has got to be an easier name to google :D--> I knew her when she was on staff at Gunnison...I liked her. I hope you find her. radar
  4. Whoever said there was no observance of Christmas at HQ and the root locations, obviously never lived at one. It was called Household Holiday and we were forced to endure one of the cruelest, inhumane experiences that twi every dreamed up: THE HOLIDAY PARTY Gawd it was awful, beginning with my first one in 1982 thru my last one in 1993, I was forced to dress up in a formal, get a date and then sit through the most ridiculous parties ever held. We were tortured with songs such as SPEAK IN TONGUES, SPEAK IN TONGUES, DO IT EVERY DAY, sung to jingle bells, and occasionally events such as LCM doing his rendition of Tom Petty's I won't back down, while Debra Olthouse, Claudette Royal, etc swayed in the background, crooning "I won't back down." One year, right after POP, John Kish was responsible for the holiday party and hq decorations. He did the entire thing in PEACH AND EMERALD decorations. Oh boy, was that weird. I believe it was in 1987, I told one of Mrs. Wierwille's sons that he just HAD TO BEG HIS MOTHER TO CANCEL THE HOLIDAY PARTY. He looked at me and said "Then both of parents would be ....ed off at me!" Just a wry little joke about POP. Radar Jane Wilder----I see you in the blue box. What are your favorite Holiday party memories? What about you Exxie?
  5. Yeah, this one is troubling. Especially the part where she moved him (in the freezer) from Arizona to MA. Did she move him so that she wouldn't be found out, or because she wanted to be sure he was close. The whole thing is troubling. ror
  6. WWJLA, I have a *coupon* wallet, and I work out my menu and monthly needs in advance. I keep the wallet in my car, especially on the weekends. I tend to do my large shopping and grocery shopping REALLY REALLY early on Saturday or Sunday am. Some people think it is *too much work,* I think of it as *Celebrity Poker*!!!! I make it a game to win as much as I can back from the system. On the other hand, if I loose an occasional hand......so.......S C R E W EM!!! ror
  7. Well, First I do the coupon thing. I remember being in line in the check out line in the SafeWay in Reston VA. The guy behind me was SO ....ED OFF that I was going thru my coupons with the clerk. At the end, after the clerk said that I had saved $45 dollars, I turned to the guy in back of me and said "I am sorry that you had to wait, but $45 dollars was worth it. He looked at me and said "NO S H I T." I learned a big lesson that way. I also do the Entertainment Coupon book. The first thing my friends and I do is to swap out the coupons we like and dislike with each other. The second thing I do is pull out all of the coupons I know I WILL NEVER USE and give them to people I know will use them I have friends that have 5 year old twins. I am diabetic, so I know right off the bat that every ice cream or dessert type place----needs to go to them, along with the bowling and kids type places. I also have a gas credit card for the cheapest gas company here in the Carolinas. I ONLY fill up my gas there. It gives me rewards as well as helps me regulate my gas $ One of my best friends here in town is a Chiropractor. I watch her pets when she goes out of town in exchange for chiropractic care and first class nutritional supplements. I have also done "pet sitting" for my dentist, hair dresser, etc. Since I am a volunteer for a pet rescue association, that fulfills my inner need to work with animals and my more immediate need of having my teeth cleaned. As far as entertainment events for kids and families. This past weekend my office sponsored our annual "Parade of Paws" fundraiser for a local animal shelter. A number of my friends brought their kids out to help do the 2 mile walk with a number of dogs that were up for adoption. The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. The adults knew that it was teaching the kids invaluable lessons, and helping the adoption cause. I work from home. I turn around all of my used fax paper and use it on the other side, " a ream saved is a ream earned!~!" I have a large garden in my back yard. I grow tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, squash, beans, luffah, cucumbers and every kind of herb you can imagine. Last night was our first hard freeze, so it is time to till and work the garden area. I have had finally pick them all and face reality, it is now winter. For me, my garden has been the cheapest and most profitable form of therapy. I would grow my garden even if it was only stupid weeds....but thank God, it has all been edible since May! Radar Oh yeah.....AND TURN OUT THE LIGHTS!!!!! Belle, check out tightwadgazette.com
  8. Yes Cathy, you are right. That was the complete mind set.....the standard....and at this point in my life, WRONG. ror
  9. I find this statement REALLY ODD, and I do not have any children. What I do have is a lifetime of experience with a cult, and what that has taught me is that there is no such thing as BLACK AND WHITE with God. If you are the type of parent that is so sure that what you have been taught, that you would choose that over your own flesh and blood.....God help you, God Save you, God forgive you. The one thing I have learned is that there is no such thing as an absolute.....you can ALWAYS BE WRONG. Your family, your children...they are the true constant. Radar (not speaking from parental experience.)
  10. MY POINT EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! See? we can agree :)--> Going to bed now! swak--- ror
  11. Mark, Of course NOW is using this tragedy to exploit their platform, most, if not all political organizations will. My personal view regarding this....it is not about the rights of the unborn. This is a domestic violence case, the most extreme, ugly and heart breaking kind. The most common kind. What is wrong with our society today? HAVEN'T THESE CRAZY MEN EVER HEARD OF DIVORCE???? Sure, it is alot more expensive financially....but......... ror
  12. Hi MO :)-->, Daytimer is an official brand (check out franklincovey.com) and day planner is the generic version -- kind of like Kleenex vs Tissue. ror
  13. Okay HotShot aka Mark ;)--> Go back and check out the case law on that 70s law. See how many cases were tried, and what the results were. The murder of Laci Peterson and her unborn child has finally brought to the forefront of American realization, that the number one cause of death in pregnant women is murder. There are different studies in that, but overall, on the national level, domestic violence needs to be addressed by the American public. ror
  14. Steve! Veda married Edgar Ibarra, and their last known sighting was as country coordinators in Mexico --> Regarding daytimers....thank God for pdas. ror
  15. Mark, The 2nd degree murder conviction was made possible by the "Laci Peterson" Law which George Bush signed into law. ror
  16. Thanks Shell! That Mercola site is one of my favs. ror
  17. sKY4IT, Help me out here! I don't understand what you are talking about. I am not much of a researcher, I don't quote scripture and I am lost!!! Radar
  18. Sky4it, What do you mean? Radar; With all due respect, to adhere to old TWI doctrine is "chilling." Radar
  19. Oh Song, Believe me, I saw the list, most probably I saw the list before you ever dreamed of the list. While working in the trunk office, I might have even helped ASSEMBLE that damn list. I don't doubt the pain that all of the m&a caused. Last night, I had a nightmare about those days in my former life....it was creepy and included an infestation of cochroaches. I woke up this morning and rearranged my freaking bedroom and sewing room because of that dream. John Shroyer has been gone from twi for nearly ten years. He has become a different person as hopefully, I have, and many of our fellow twi *** --- hole--- idiot, contemporaries. My point in addressing you is just THAT. We have all moved on, changed, grown, hopefully, matured. *Forgive* me. I was hoping to inspire you to personally handle this with a person you believe has wronged you. I am an idiot.....I have no business putting myself in your pain. Radar And another thing, that dream I had last night is nothing new. Just different in perspective. Shellon, Catcup and Rascal can probably remember a recurring dream I had right after I left twi....that I lived at Camp Gunnison and the twi safety dogs were constantly following me wanting to rip out my throat. I might be opening up a pandora's box here but it wasn't only the "twig members" that were sacrificed and suffered as a result of twi. It was 99% of all of their followers, pfal grad to clergy that were totally B *** U *** TT F *** U *** CK ***ED.
  20. So be it. I was just adding my thoughts. radar
  21. Yeah! What Shell said. Mj---In my opinion and 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old needs to be in a different category. Most of us know what a child molester really means, really is. Radar
  22. I haven't been able to really address this thread until now.....too painful, so I am going to do baby steps. Every Tuesday, I go to a training class with my boss. The instructor basically teaches half baked imitations of Dave Bedard doing Christian Communications, or Bill Mays doing Dale Carnegie. I completely freeze up.....he might as well be sitting in front of me speaking polish! I always drive myself home from the training sessions saying "PEOPLE DONT CARE WHAT YOU KNOW UNTIL THEY KNOW YOU CARE." Secondly, we hired another girl in the office. The other day, I went into the bathroom and she had folded the toilet paper in "hotel folds" just like they did in the OSC. I flipped out. I went right over to her desk and told her under no circumstances was she ever to do that again!!!!!! This thread is too hard!!! Radar
  23. Song, You are a good man, I have never made so much as a mean or hard hearted comment toward you. I am IN NO WAY associated with CFF, I don't financially support them, attend their fellowships, send anyone associated with them so much as a birthday card. That said, I completely believe that John Shroyer is a good man, and does all he can to be a good minister. I have seen many sides to him, good, bad, ugly and indifferent. I believe that he is a good man, not that he has never made mistakes. I do not personally know you song.....but over the years I have read your posts. All I am saying is that if you have something within you that you need to clarify/settle with John Shroyer.....it is my opinion, that he will be willing to talk it out with you. John is the kind of man that really, really, really, wants to do the right thing. After all is said and done, doesn't that count for something? Two men (you and John,) two different points of view, trying to reconcile their differences? I am in no way degrading you.....just hoping that there can be a resolution for you. Radar
