Dang Raf, I wrote a response back to you, but I used a "certain someone's" last name and it went into moderation. You can read it in ....what? A few days? ror

Raf, I understand where you are coming from, and in no way would I ever advocate frivolous or baseless lawsuits. That is the the paradox of our legal system, each side is called upon to present their case, then it will be dismissed, pursued, and judged on it's merits. In America we are privileged to have the right to "trial by jury," or it's equivalent (mediation, settlement, etc,) not guaranteed to WIN For me, it is the very fact that people and organizations are standing up and claiming that right that is comforting. Would I prefer that twim, allens, parker, peeler, roberge WIN? YOU BETCHA.....but it is the fact that they are pursuing what they believe to be justice that is helping me regain my own soul. Radar

Regardless of the merits of any of the lawsuits (past, present or future,) there is one important fact that the ex-way community should not overlook: Each and every one of these lawsuits are draining time, energy, reputation and MONEY out of the twi....for that reason alone......I say "KEEP 'EM COMING FOLKS!!!" More power to them. Radar

does THE WAY have a person of God for this our day and time ?
Radar OReilly replied to excathedra's topic in About The Way
God I hope not. ror -
Yeah, she is awesome. I will never forget how concerned she was that the corps was so legalistic. She use TO MAKE ME walk on the grass.....and appropriate Mrs O's cushman. She really, really took great care of me. ror

Exxie, VPW died in May of 85, I joined staff in July of 1985 in the switchboard department. I had been at hq from April -August of 1983 as well....in those days, I worked in the Advanced Class department for a friend of yours....you probably don't remember me, but she introduced us....I even visited with you at your home. I was on staff at headquarters from 7/85-8/94 so the state loyalty never played into my decison to leave twi. Like JustThinking, I left when and how I wanted to leave. THAT SAID, a couple of my jobs on staff at twi were "big picture" jobs, and I KNOW (as in ginosko ;)--> how concerned the trustees were about loosing mass numbers of people because their limb coordinators left. There were a number of limbs that the twi followers did not even know that their limb guy had left twi and was sending their abs to "some other" leadership than twi and the bot. There was even a limb that the limb guy was saving the abs money and eventually built his own CHURCH building. My best friend was that guy's limb secretary. Those were freaking weird times. Thank GOD, I finally woke up. Radar

I have no idea where she is now, but I was in the corps with her. The one thing I know about her is THAT GIRL CAN SING....and write! What a talent...I hope she is happy and is finding a way to use her gifts. Radar

disclaimer: I support God, Truth and the American Way. Doug McMullan is a singularly private and individualistic human....a rare American....he truly believes he has been called to this contest. Doug is not pursuing this for the possiblity of a $ settlement...not for the notoriety of the internet (he has NEVER, not ONCE, posted here at gspot, himself.) For Doug, this is personal, spiritual, and what he believes God has truly burned into his heart and bones. You and I may or may not agree....but I TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY SUPPORT his right to pursue what he believes is an issue from the lord. Then, of course there is the part of me that wants to jump up, show holy hands and proclaim that Jesus is Lord.....however it ends, I support Doug and Shannon. They are doing what they believe is SPIRITUALLY CORRECT, technically, politically correct? Maybe, maybe night....but they believe they have a fire in their bones to pursue this. Radar

Ex-Cult Minister Turned Nude Photographer?
Radar OReilly replied to Nottawayfer's topic in About The Way
Nah.....I am fairly certain that he didn't take any "frisky pix" of the current pres and the current "special assistant" to the pres. But overall.....yeah, this is a total " well, slap my face" moment as they say down here in the Carolinas. Anyone else feeling like we former cultists live in a parallel universe? ror -
Oak, You and I have hardly ever DISAGREED about anything regarding twi....but this is one subject that I completely disagree with you about. The difference between twi1 and twi2.....is huge! I survived them both (personally, I think we can do our own SURVIVOR: NEW KNOXVILLE show.) I have often thought of twi like this..... for those of you that believe in the "evolution theory of life, you will totally relate: Twi1 was Lucy (in the sky with diamonds) the beginning, humanity in it's earliest form. Everything that man would become was contained there in the package, just the rough form, very rudimentary. TWI2 is "man in it's present form," highly evolved, the ability to think, reason, and be more vile and evil than poor Lucy could ever conceive of. I have given this lots of thought, and can elaborate with you, want to do an exway blog? Love you Oak! You know I do, sorry to disagree. ROR

Just a comment (or five) regarding the Wierwille family standing with twi. I feel as "empowered and informed" as anyone else on this subject....maybe more. This topic means different things to different people. VPW did indeed say that the vitality of the ministry depended upon the Wierwille family staying involved, and the decline of "the ministry" would correspond to the involvement and support of the Wierwille Family. What some of the posters remember, is a video made in celebration of the 40th Anniversary, it was made for the way corps...it was called " A Day with the Wierwilles." The paradox here...is the difference between what VPW described, his views, his wishes, his visions.....and WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. Whether or not whoever is reading this believed what he said is true......what he said is NOT WHAT HAPPENED. I was on staff from 85-94.....during which 1987-1994 I worked directly for A or multiple members of the Wierwille family. I have countless notes of meetings or teachings (private or public) in which lcm constantly referred to how important it was to have members of the Wierwille family stand with twi. As twi became more bizarre, as lcm became more of a heathen.....the wierwille family members seemed to distance themselves from the twi establishment. It is a lot of very personal, deep, heart wrenching, concepts to understand and process. Please don't crucify me and what I have said....I am trying to be as honest as I can.....and put it all in perspective. The Wierwille kids, Mary, Karen, Don, J.P., and Sara...it was kismet.....that I knew them and know them and love them. They are unique humans with their own crosses to bear. Their crosses are not bigger or heavier than ours. Just more public and (perhaps) more representative than ours. ror

Exxie, Me too...sometimes I feel so guilty because of my "thought-life" regarding the older corps that had "tripped out." Like you said, UGGHHHH...enough already. radar Alfie, Yes, Karen Martin edited Dorothea Wierwille's book....I have to just say here, that Karen Martin is one of the most genuine, kind and real people I have ever known....in twi or out of twi. Her work as an editor is genuine, she is trained and is excellent at her job, she did it because of her love and respect for her parents, not because of any allegiance to twi. Regarding the Sommervilles. John (and by extension Mary) were at odds with vpw, probably for a bunch of reasons, but the reason most sited, and the reason most vocalized by John Sommerville was because of his open disagreement with vpw over aspects of the "bible lands." ror

JT, Now that you mention it, I NEVER, NOT ONCE, heard either RFR or DM address the issue of homosexuality during the great "fag years." As a matter of fact, during those EXACT YEARS, I remember distinctly, the two women that wayferNot mentioned, living in rfr's basement and Donna spending quite a bit of time with an openly admitted "reformed and delivered" lesbian that had been placed in a highly visible corps position. I remember thinking (WHAT AN IDIOT) that Donna was "working with her" to "CONFIRM" her deliverance. Add that to the category of: THINGS THAT MAKE YOU WANT TO GO....HMMMMMMMMMM????" Radar

I am completely amazed that more of you (any of you??) are not as disgusted as I am at the entire debate mirage. THATwas NOT a debate. That was a perfectly timed, perfectly choreographed, perfectly disgusting simultaneous press conference. How do we prevent this travesty from ever happening again? That debate was paid for by the American tax paying public, but the two parties made up all the rules without consulting us. THEY had 32 pages of rules and agreements designed to make themselves look good, play to their individual bases, and minimize their individual shortsuits. This morning on the Sunday morning circuit, it was brought up (on more than one channel) that the second debate is in jeopardy because the Bush camp wants "soft Bush, and soft Kerry" audience and questions, not a truly open town hall audience. It was Bush that brought it up, BUT, it could have just as easily been Kerry. I am getting sick of all of this. I want to see BOTH candidates, in t-shirts, jeans and sneakers, with NO MAKE UP, on a stage of OUR CHOICE, in front of an audience of OUR choice, with lecturns of OUR choice, with lights of OUR choice, with pens, pencils and pads of OUR choice, bottled water of OUR choice, with camera angles of OUR choice, answering QUESTIONS OF OUR CHOICE. THEY BOTH are acting a little too big for their britches and it is time THEY BOTH realize that they serve at the convenience of the American Public. We the American voting public are at voting blind when we are voting on a "STAGE PLAY." Have any of you ever read either the "Making" or the "Selling" of the president? Hasn't changed since the 70s....damn them all. We deserve whatever we get. Radar (It is okay with me if any of you ask me if I am pms-ing, or posting in the light of my being a female " You woulda hadda been there ;)-->

Georgio, In normal circumstances I would 100% agree with you. Someone's sexuality is their business....... EXCEPT when it comes to twi or any other organization that preaches one thing and lives another. If I didn't know (personally) wonderful people that were labeled as *fags* and run off in the dark of night, if I didn't know people that had their entire life decimated, their reputations ruined, their dreams shattered because of FALSE WITNESS from the twi leadership....I might agree with you. TWI and it's leadership reveled in the false witness.....telling lies, making up lies...spreading lies about people within its ranks that did not conform to their idea of EXACTLY how people should act. Just a reminder to all of us......THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS is one of the ten commandments. Radar

Okay, this may be open to a thousand pyscho babble interpretations, but for years after I left twi......I had horrible nightmares that I received an "assignment" to go back on staff. Just for some perspective, the 1995 *directive* that all way corps needed to go back on way pay almost sent me over the edge. There is something about actually taking a paycheck from an organization that makes you an integral part of that organization. I cannot fathom someone that has been on *the field* accepting a corps assignment that would take them to hq now. It would be just toooo creepy, to slimey, toooooo devilish. ror

JT, Steve is correct. Does anyone have the old waydale threads? That one in particular "Is Donna a Lesbian" or something very similar to that? The thread author might be Karl K..... ror

Recent outies (last 5 years) - why did you leave? (I'm curious)
Radar OReilly replied to Steve!'s topic in About The Way
Steve, I think I have told you why I left, but since my five year anniversary is rapidly approaching (December 1, 1999) I have been reflecting on it. I was a totally committed "dog soldier" for twi. I spent all of my teens (okay, I was 14 not 13) and my complete and total adult life in TWI. I did everything I was supposed to do, and after the corps I spent 9 years on staff at headquarters. I left staff after the rock in 1994, and left on 12/1/99. It took me five full years of working and living in "the world" to finally make the break. It took me that long to realize that even active church go-ers don't act "en mass" and "vote en mass." The real God fearing people, real Bible believers were able to have their own minds, their own thoughts, their own privacy. TWI had done a magnificent job of "scatter-feeding" their followers. Beginning in March 1989 and following, each and every month had been more consumptive of the twi followers minds and hearts. The last few years at twi, a number of my closest friends and I all realized that martindale and his crowd were wacko, delusional and dangerous. For the sake of "the ministry" we were willing to wait it out, until someone got rid of him. As time went by, I realized that no one would ever get rid of him as things stood. He was the embodiement of evil and they were willing to just let him keep being the mog. When I finally left....it was like a new life for me. New air to breathe, new beauty to see, new things to learn. Radar -
LOY CRAIG MARTINDALE L. CRAIG MARTINDALE CRAIG MARTINDALE if it walks like a duck......... ror

Jeanette, Your last post was honest and welcoming. Your statement "we just walked away didn't we" summed up YOUR experience, and I am glad you are learning that wasn't EVERYONE's experience. I was 14 when I was introduced to twi at the "Way Presents" in Oakland California in December 1971. I left on December 1, 1999. It was, in fact, my whole life. I did just everything offered including spending 9 years on staff at headquarters. Just "walking away" was the LAST thing I was able to do. It literally took me years to leave, once I had made up my mind.....I had to move to a different state to do it. It is vital for exwayfers to realize that we all did not have the same EXACT experience, and not to dismiss every experience that was not similar to our own. Welcome to the club J! I think you have figured it out :)--> Radar

Whopping 5 Students Graduate from WC Training This Year
Radar OReilly replied to Belle's topic in About The Way
The fact that even five people graduated from wc training brings tears to my eyes. How many years til they wake up and find the truth? How much pain will they endure? How many lies with they live with and tell? How will their children make it thru? five or five hundred......it is still a tragedy. radar -
