Oldies You would be surprised at what people will do when they believe that to "DISOBEY" is to #1 be out of fellowship, #2 be going against the will of god for their own personal lives. Radar

Fortunateone, I know YOU know this, I just gotta say it for the benefit of lurkers.......... "Unapologetic unconfession by LCM about his affair" IT WASN'T AN AFFAIR!!!!!! I just HAD to get that off my chest. ROR

ckeer, Oh, you missed all the DON'T GO NEAR THE INTERNET fun then! :D--> In 1998/99 (there were only a few sites such as TranceNet, No Way Out, John Juedes and surprisingly, just about the same time as Waydale started up) TWI came out with a completely ANTI INTERNET stand and directive. The limb/household fellowship coordinators in most states personally questioned every local area believer as to if they 1) had internet access, 2) used it for entertainment 3) had ever visited an ExWay internet site or had someone recommend to them that they visit and ExWay site. The former administrator of Waydale had formerly been on staff at hq in their computer services department and had "reportedly" tried numerous times to encourage twi to get PROACTIVELY involved in the internet, and purchase various domain names. Guess which "prophet" was right? ;)--> ROR ChasUFarley? Do you remember your internet interrogation? I only remember mine making me sick to my stomach.

Wordwolf, Lynn, Shoenheit, Shroyer, Waydale....those are all old news to them too, non are actively recruiting current wayfers. I just don't think this thread has active value. Just my own thoughts and observations. Radar

Yeah Oldies I was thinking the same thing. Whoever made up that original list certainly isn't very much "IN THE KNOW" because the number one on TWI'S most wanted list is ABSOLUTELY, UNEQUIVICALLY, Geer. In their estimation, he lit the fuse that caused the place to detonate. ROR

Eagle... So you are familiar with the geer encounter? Hmmmmmm.... Radar

JT, VPW and his wife spent EXACTLY one night in the Corps Chalet and he HATED it. He didn't like the "loft" aspect among other things. LCM and Donna were living in one of the small units on grounds trailer 4,5, or 6 and VPW decided that was not grand enough for the corps director/president elect of twi. ROR

Of course CG will be DRIVING THE GOLDEN CHARIOT! :D--> THAT WAS FUNNY, UH....good one! ;)--> ROR

Exxie, I see your point about it not being generational, but I still don't know how I really feel about all of that. In their age group, my aunt is in her mid 80s now, it wasn't all that uncommon. I can think of a few other men in their social circle that were similar to my Uncle. Maybe serial adultery transends all generations? Is it something buried deep in humanity and more socially acceptable at different levels and different times? I guess I do think my uncle was incredibly cruel to her, but on the other hand, he adored her, gave her every luxury life could think of and never once did anyone in my family hear so much as a squeek that he would leave her or that she would throw him out. Maybe it was all just convenience? I don't know, but I don't think I will ever really get an answer to this. Regarding physical abuse in twi. Like I said, amongst the leadership I knew of two cases. I am sure those cases were just a "sampling" and I thought it was stupid the women stayed but after that incident that happened in my own family when I was 8...I thought that to try and do an "intervention" was not gonna accomplish anything. If I had it to do over, I would have said something in both of those situations. Radar

I dunno Tommy. I was hoping someone here could help me put it all into perspective. ROR

Wierwille books on eBay - going for HIGH $$$

OM... Radar's response: _______________________________________________ Usually...in most types of collecting the "originals" will be of greater value than subsequent editions. NOT SO with the product of the CULT known as twi. ________________________________________________ Only that there are serious differences as to why a LATER VERSION would be auctioned off at a higher rate than an earlier version. That was your question wasn't it? ROR -
Joan.... I can't remember for sure...the number of the unit that it is. It was a unit that was laid out at a different angle than most of the others in the unit park. Any other questions....private message/topic or email me okay? ROR

Oldies, This is not an "attack" on you personally...really it isn't. I hope you take this as it is offered, an indication of why you are so often "dissed." Usually...in most types of collecting the "originals" will be of greater value than subsequent editions. NOT SO with the product of the CULT known as twi. You have what your "memories" of twi are...such as they are. But...that is simply not what twi is or has been for almost 20 years. I can with great confidence say that TWI of the 90s was an entirely different animal from any thing that you EVER DREAMED. You insist on engaging in hand to hand combat with people that experienced and entirely different CULT (I am sorry OM but I cannot use the term MINISTRY) than you experienced. I for better or worse, experience both. I often watch you defend what you believe to be true and admire you for that. On the other hand, I KNOW that your opponents have no idea what you are talking about...and that you have NO IDEA what they experienced. In reality.....you might as well be defending Billy Graham...because in fact, your situations were so different. YOU ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT THE SAME CULTS. What you remember or think you remember....FINE....I don't question that you experienced what you experienced. What you do not seem to understand is that after 1989......it was entirely different....no matter what your friends or family members may have related to you. With respect.....I hope you understand that.....Radar -
Regarding Hills question, In my 9 years on staff and 2 in residence I only encountered two couples that had physical abuse (that I know of) involved in their relationship. One...he was VERY HIGHLY PLACED and to this day runs a north eastern US spin off. Their marital discord was well known...it could be heard from at least 2 or 3 "units" away. Ms Imagine....I think they lived in the unit you lived in a few occupants before you lived there. Of course, that is 'ALLEDGELY LIVED" in that unit a few years before you. The second couple, I know of no PHYSICAL abuse, HOWEVER, the wife just about had a nervous breakdown when her washer broke down. She was shrieking as she LITERALLY cried that her husband was going to be SOOOOO ANGRY. --> WHATEVER!!! ROR
-
Ms Imagine.....how wonderful to see you :)-->, your voice of reason has been sorely missed...at least by me. There will never be another Joan Wilder ;)--> I have been waiting for a thread to talk about this...and this seems like the closest that has come up in quite awhile. They usually turn into some sort of a lambast of Dorothea Wierwille, but I want to talk about the possibility that some of it could be generational. My uncle Louie was the light and delight of my life. He was the father my father could never bring himself to be...the man figure of my childhood and teen years. The father figure that loved me, took care of me, took me on trips to other countries & continents in real life, and other universes by way of his stories when I was a small child. He was a medaled officer in WW2, a leader in the world of mentoring, a city councilman and eventually mayor of my hometown. He has buildings and programs named after him in the town and area I live in as well as the Red Cross and Seabees of America. He married my aunt in 1941 and they remained married until the day of his death in 1994. My aunt worshiped the ground he walked on, she cooked his meals, ironed his shirts (in true military fashion,) and presided over his "impromptu" dinners. Today, April 30, 2004 she still deeply mourns his death. My uncle was a serial "hound." He chased and pretty much caught every skirt within eyesight. He didn't have a "type," it didn't matter if they were gorgeous or ugly, he was INTERESTED. I grew up knowing this about him. His behavior caused a huge family confrontation when I was 8 years old. I was locked in my granma's kitchen (she lived in an inlaw apartment) while my dad confronted my aunt about her husband's behavior. I can vividly remember periodically being shoved out of the way of the kitchen door that night as the adults came in for another bottle of real Kentucky bourbon, my dad yelled, and my aunt cried. I was always okay with my uncle's predatory behavior until my junior year at Encinal High School (for the benefit of MasterHerbalist, Socks, Jim and Kit) when my uncle "took up" with the hs secretary. I put my foot down on that one....it hit too close to home. I took the bus to his office and laid down the law. I didn't care who he F###u###c###k###ed as long as she didn't work at my high school. He immediately terminated the relationship, and that was that. My point is this, was this type of behavior generational? Was it simply that the wives and husbands were truly "soul mates" that had understandings between themselves? Was it just "one of those things?" I don't know. I think about it alot, because each time the subject comes up, I think of my beloved uncle, who meant the world to me. Any takers? ROR
