    Christmas

Hmmmm, they say Jesus was born on 9/11, and the World Trade Center went down on that day...............
  2. Speaking of detective shows, one I really liked was Ellery Queen, with Timothy Hutton. At the end of the show, they would tell you all the clues were given, and then would go to a commercial, so you had a chance to put it all together.
  3. I can name that show in seven notes, Sudo.

    Andrew and his dad

Oh sure, just insult the kid, why doncha?
  5. Yes, you're right, GT, but this isn't really about religion, per se. I would say it' s more about how our childhood perhaps fostered a predisposition toward joining what's known in the psychological field as a "high-demand" group. It just so happens, the group we belonged to had a religious veneer. But, this can happen in any sphere of endeavor. Remember the black Nike crowd? Or, Scientology, for that matter. I don't claim to know all the answers (just a lot of them ). I was just throwing this out for consideration.
  6. I’ve been thinking about this for a while, how our upbringing influenced our decision to become a part of the evil empire known as TWI. When we were young, our parents were as God. We were dependent on them for our very lives. Most of us, (correct me if I’m wrong) had parents whose reality checks did a little bouncing (more for some than for others, to be sure). This is not meant to be a diatribe against our parents, just an exploration of how the child rearing practices of our parents may have contributed to our becoming part of the organization (I refuse to call it a ‘ministry’ anymore). John Bradshaw calls this phenomenon “going home”, of how we tend to repeat the experiences of childhood throughout our adult lives. I would venture to say, most of us had at least one of what I would term ‘drill sergeant’ parents, i.e., “you do it NOW, and don‘t you roll your eyes at me, I‘ll give you something to roll your eyes about”. At one time, this was the most effective parenting style around. But the drill sergeant sends a very specific message to a child, one which says, “you can’t think, so I have to do all your thinking for you”. Perhaps this is one of many factors leading up to our involvement in TWI. What think ye?

    New Law in Ohio

I guess I would like to read the actual law as passed before I form a final opinion, but as stated, it won't hold up. ***Posted by Abigail**** BTW, hi Bluz!!!!!! Long time no see!!!!!
  9. "Sushi, I'm posting this in the guitar thread also, thought you wouldn't mind." HOW DARE YOU!!!
  10. Wow, impressive. At the least, Wordwolf uses his powers for good instead of evil.
  11. I'm pretty sure it's not Andre` the Giant, but could it be Mia Farrow's father? Or am I totally out in left field on this one?
  12. You don't mean , do you? Or, for the full version, HERE!
  13. When I got to Michigan about five years ago, I remember being outraged that gas was 1.70 a gallon. Ah, to return to those halcyon days.
  14. One way to save a little on gas is to fill up early in the morning, before the sun gets its day rolling. You'll get more for your money.
  15. I didn't watch the clip, nor do I plan to. More than likely, it will fall under the "if it's too good to be true (and, having Jesus here on earth would qualify), it probably is" category.
  16. Just as an aside, if you want to understand the words for "All Along The Watchtower", not to mention some great guitar work........... HERE!
  17. "hard day of smelling horses" Like there's an EASY day of smelling horses?

    Science vs. God

My point in posting the article was, perhaps Ron didn't have all the facts at his disposal.

    Science vs. God

I beg to differ. Would this HERE, qualify? (Hope I'm not being an a hole, Rick...... )
  20. Four years and a 40,000 dollar fine. I'd say that was a pretty 'stiff' sentence...............
  21. POSTED BY ABIGAIL AND SUSHI Dot, I'm no medical professional, but I do know taking antibiotics without a prescription for the bug you have, and without the proper dosage for the proper length of time, may lead to a more serious illness not only for your husband, but potentially one for you as well. If he is fighting something bacterial and he does not have enough medication to kill it off, the bacteria can mutate and become resistant to the type of antibiotic he is taking. That is very bad for him and anyone he might potentially pass a resistant bacterial strain onto. So, as a non-medical professional, I strongly urge you to insist upon taking him to ER or an after hours clinic tonight.
  22. I also think we should wait until more facts come out. People confess to murders for a myriad of reasons.
  23. Hey, Y, you would faint if you saw my bills for oral Tinactin.
  24. The difference between an acquaintance and a friend: An acquaintance will help you move. A friend will help you move a dead body.
  25. deleted because this was supposed to be from Abigail
