  1. HERE! marks the official start of the Christmas season. (For those who need a question, "What is the official name of this song?")
  2. Just to let you know, Notta, it never left. The sentence is from "If Life Is A Game, These Are The Rules", by Doctor (an actual PHD) Cherie Carter Scott. It is part of the "Ten Rules For Being Human". One of the things I like about the book is, it gives one a framework to live one's life by, without the religious overlay. For some who have given up on the 'search for God' it is a breath of fresh air. The way I see it, I searched for 'Him' once, now it's HIS turn .
  3. I thought the title of the thread referred to yet another drink preferred by the old Vickster, Scotch and Seven Up. But, I understand his chosen poison was Drambuie, therefore I was confused.
  4. So, which 'course' language are we talking about here? Abnormal Family Psychology 101?
  5. It would depend on what your goal is, Belle. There are times when only a hearty F U will suffice.

    Taco Bell

The only thing I have to say about Taco Bell is, they have a LOT of damn gall to call themselves fast food. I have literally been the only person in the place (and this is not specific to any one TB) and it STILL takes them ten minutes to get my order together.

    Chatting

    Yup, still here.
  8. Does this phrase strike anyone else as being more closely related to being a business buzzword rather than a Christian expression of belief? I am not meaning to denigrate your beliefs, Patrick and Sarah, but language does have the capacity to influence behavior. The language used by TWI, imnsho, reflects more a business attitude as opposed to one of ministering to God's people. For example, let's say I called someone a jerk (of course, this is merely a hypothetical construct, I would NEVER do that as a Joisey truck driver ) You might dismiss this comment as my having a bad day. If, on the other hand, I called someone an A HOLE, I would think you would be more cautious around this person. Of course, all this depends on what you think of me and my opinion. TWI, being the one big dysfunctional family it was/is, used 'loaded' language to its advantage. I think if you look at the language used by it, you'll find more business like terms than Christian ones. Of course, this opinion will probably be worth what you paid for it. Should you desire to pay me for it, feel free to email me with details of obtaining said funds.
  9. MY absolute favorite from his is: "The other day, I spilled spot remover on my dog, now he's gone"
  10. "I have a map of the United States, its actual size". "Last summer, I folded it"
  11. My apologies. Upon further investigation, I have reason to believe the 2.4% reflects the increase in their budget from the previous year.
  12. Well, from NASA's own budget, it's not GO-zillions. It is in fact, (if I'm reading it correctly) 2.4 % of our national budget But, it still amounts to 16.5 BILLION dollars.
  13. Perhaps, but Ralph Kramden would probably send you to the moon if you asked real nice.
  14. Perhaps you didn't mean to, LG. But, I believe the responsibility for communication falls on the writer as opposed to the reader. Would you agree with that? That being said, I'm sure you know the difference between the denotation/connotation of a word. True, the denotation of ignorant (according to the dictionary I have available to me): lacking knowledge and education in general or in a specific subject Encarta ® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2004 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. However, the connotation of ignorant tends to be slightly different than what you claim to have meant. If I said someone was ignorant and they kicked my butt (though, I wouldn't call what I did, a butt kicking ) for it, I really shouldn't be surprised. Your turn.
  15. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive my ignoble ignorance, LG. I suppose in the fray of going to work and raising a family, I somehow missed focusing my attention on the benefits of the space program. As for the rest of the article, referring to colonization of other planets, how many of you really think (if it were to happen in our lifetime) you would be the ones on the space ship? The infinitesimal part of me which is cynical, suspects it isn't going to be the average Joe (or, Josephine) hurtling toward another planet. That privilege will only be for the fabulously wealthy and/or connected.
  16. I would have to agree. Other than digital watches and the like, can someome tell me how the space program has benefitted the average person (you know, the ones actually paying for it) ?
  17. Would Larry Storch have anything to do with this show?

    Kaizersozay

Just want to say, this is NOT me. Therefore, if this person makes inappropriate remarks, they have NOTHING to do with me. However, if this person DOES make those comments, he/she will probably be in good stead with me.
  19. Abigail, of course, is the goddess. The one my world revolves around, anyways. (edited to say Abigail, for those unfamiliar)
  20. Belle, Dork ! BTW, I did get your card. Thank you, I needed it.
  21. I had the first good laugh for a while when I saw White Dove's tagline. "Whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed"
  22. "again, this is my first day..but i would like to know if anyone would like to comment on wierwille's "Jesus Christ is not God". who believes that Jesus is God now?" This probably isn't the answer you were looking for, but I'm not sure GOD is GOD.
  23. Perhaps 1968 was the year all hell broke loose, but, it was in the process for quite some time before then. I would say 1959 when I was born.
