Well, aren't you little Miss Picky, then?

I had read bits and pieces of Karl Marx's writings (or at least the English translations) before I became involved with The Way so, when I heard Wierwille misquote it (Advanced Class, perhaps?), I knew the source, even though he did not cite it. Here, by the way, is what Marx actually said: "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people." - Karl Marx The erroneous point that Wierwille was attempting to make was that The Way wasn't a religion and, thus, it was superior to other belief systems. (The guy was a pompous azz.)

7) Keep trying to convince themselves and each other that there really is a Santa Claus.

You don't have to look any farther than facebook to find people still entrenched in that cliche-filled gibberish and TWI think. I don't know if they are doing it to proselytize new recruits or maintain a numbing level of self-delusion. I have my own theory on that matter.

What Was Your Favorite Treat When You Were A Kid
waysider replied to Human without the bean's topic in Open
We had a little grocery store about mid-way down the block called Pepi's. (Some of you guys would probably call it a "bodega".) Pepi lived in the back rooms and in the storefront he had cold cuts, cheeses, soda pop, dish soap and, best of all, penny candy. Red Hot Dollars, Bulls Eyes, candy cigarettes, fizzy sticks and all kinds of stuff. Once, my mother had a bunch of buttons sitting out for a clothing repair. Being just a little guy and not knowing any better, I scooped them up and headed for Pepi's. He let me spend them all on penny candy without batting a eye and later gave them back to my mother. That's how things were in the neighborhood. Everybody knew each other. It was like a little town inside a big town. (Maybe Opera Buff remembers the place. It was on Forestdale Ave.) But, one of my all time favorite snack type things to do as a kid was to follow the sweet scent of blooming honeysuckle vine in the nearby cemetery. You take the flower and carefully extract that stringy thing in the center. As it emerges from the blossom, it brings with it one small drop of sweet nectar. Better than any penny candy could ever hope to be. I still think of that when I smell it in the evening air. -
I found Waldo. Too abstract? See, I left when my son was born and "Where's Waldo?" is a thing you do with your kids. Get it?

I think I may have posted this in the wrong forum this morning. Sorry. ================================================== "God invented welfare for the Way-fers" fascinating concept I've known people who've been on welfare...not exactly living a "more abundant life", by any stretch. Whatever happened to the hype they used to peddle regarding John 10:10? "You see, kids, Gawd made the Moon out of green cheese because He knew, in His foreknowledge, when Way-fers finally set foot on its soil, after a long and treacherous journey, just how Gawd Almighty hungry they will be." Can I get an Amen?

For those who simply must know.

Very, very cool! Happy for both of you!

Yes, very convenient. Especially since it contradicts the essence of PFAL session #1. Remember? Wierwille said he saw the "unbelievers" living a more abundant life than the "believers". If it's "spiritual", what was it he was seeing? <_<

I just quietly drifted out to sea. No one seemed to notice I was gone. I had to adjust my thinking, however, to accept two key points. First, that the devil wasn't going to snuff out me or my loved ones for leaving what I later came to realize was nothing more than a cult. Second, that I wasn't required to give my money to TWI or any other religious organization to ensure my safety and health.

songs remembered from just one line
waysider replied to bulwinkl's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
That can't possibly be rap ..... I can understand the lyrics and there's no fake Brooklyn accent. :P Off Topic: "Bobby Rush been rappin' before y'all was born." HeHeHe -
OOPS! I guess that's good news, though. That will give you plenty of time to stock up on Ramen noodles and get an oil change for your W.O.W-Mobile.

SPONTOBEAT This is a guy who just makes up songs, spontaneously.....by the thousands! . He never covers any songs, not even his own. Some are "killer", some are just "so-so". Not everybody's cup of tea.... I understand. Fascinating, though. HERE is a link. Click on "videos" and watch the featured video. It has a definite Jimmy Reed flavor to it. and ENJOY!
