This cult classification thing is, as you noted, Ham, far reaching, even beyond the boundaries of religion. One of the more recent ones that's been growing by leaps and bounds is "the devotees of talk (read: hate) radio and TV". I had a customer try to evangelize me to Beck worship just last week. Most of what he presented was nothing more than parroted fragments of unsubstantiated claims. Kinda reminded me a little bit of myself trying to use 4 crucified to get a signature on the heralded green card. .

I never got very far up the TWI corporate ladder so my experience in this category is limited. One thing I always hated as a class instructor, though, was having to chastise late arrivals. (And by Way standards, "late" was anything less than 15 minutes early.) I'm not a very confrontational person by nature so it was always difficult for me to confront people with honest to goodness, real, professional careers for only being 5 minutes early for class.

There are differences. There are similarities. One thing I now for sure, though. We were "The Best!". (VP said so.) (You know he wasn't really a "Dr.", don't you?)

Maybe he just got a bad bowl of chili.

---probably where they got the expression "Life ain't no cake-walk."

Well, it's the cake you design on paper, using precisely measured ingredients, but never actually bake. (or eat)

Written music is not a recipe so much as it's an analysis. Recipe type scenario: I decide I want to bake a "killah" cake so I sit down with pen and paper. What should I put in it? Let's see. Usual flour, eggs, water etc.----1/2 cup of walnuts, 1/8 tsp of cherry extract, 1/8 tsp of anise, 1/4 tsp of eye of newt ----and so on. Next, I bake it and scrutinize the results. Analysis type scenario: I decide I want to bake a "killah" cake so I start throwing ingredients together as I'm inspired. A little of this, a scootch of that, a pinch of something else, etc. When it's finished, I reflect on what I put in it and commit that memory to paper. Written music can be either or both. I think, for the most part, though, that most written music is, in essence, more of an analysis of "what was" than a recipe of "what shall be".

Somewhat off-topic In the 1970s, the term being used was "tripped-out". And everyone "knew" you can't receive revelation when you're tripped-out. You had to be en-guard around them because they could poison your thoughts with their off-the-word conversations.

Smith County, Mississippi. I don't think I'd like to find myself trying to hitch a ride on one of its dark, deserted roads at 3AM because I'd just been "shown the door". From their website: "Any volunteer may be dismissed at any time and/or program cancelled (sp) at sole discretion of those charged with oversight."

I wonder if anyone's been kicked out yet. It's almost inevitable.

There once was a man who had no body. Yeah, that's right, he was just a head, connected to a pair of shoulders by a neck. Oh, he got along ok. Still, there was always that gnawing thought in the back of his mind that he could do more if he had arms. So, he prayed to God for arms and----- Presto! He had 2 perfectly good arms, complete with a full compliment of fingers and thumbs. And, he was thankful. But, he couldn't help thinking how cool it would be to have legs. Again, he prayed. Next thing you know, he's got a torso, complete with 2 strong legs and 5 toes on each foot. And, he was thankful. Still, there was always that gnawing thought in the back of his mind that he could do more with what he now had. So, he prayed to God for a skateboard and----- Presto! A skateboard appeared on his front porch. He was so excited, he hopped onto it and raced down the driveway, straight into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. Next thing he knew, he was standing at Heaven's gate, face to face with St. Peter. "Have you learned anything from all this?" questioned St. Peter. "Yes", said the man. "I should have quit while I was still a head."

I really don't have a dog in this fight because, honestly, I don't really care anymore. I am curious, however, what criteria you have used to make such a declatation.

Twi and Offshoots -- A form of "colonial christianity"
waysider replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
The following is an excerpt from the The Way Tree class, © 1974, that I have posted on a previous thread. I believe this may have appeared even earlier in the Twig Leadership Training seminars. "Each Twig is self supporting, self propagating and self governing in cooperation with its respective Branch as each Branch is to its respective Limb, as each limb is to its respective Trunk, as each Trunk is to the Root of the Way". There it is, in its original verbiage. Look at the context. Frequently, this section of the class was quoted in a truncated version that ended with the words "self governing". Read between the lines! The Way is not an organization that started out sweet and later turned sour. The cards were on the table as early as , if not earlier than, 1974. -
Thought you might enjoy version by the guy who wrote it-----Bobby Womack(From my hometown)

You talk about frog breath like it's bad thing. :P

I dunno. It seems like when you forgive someone, it's usually accompanied by the expectation that the transgression wont happen again. Otherwise, it would just be enablement.
