    Cataracts

What Happens During Cataract Surgery? Cataract surgery usually is done on an outpatient basis. You may be asked to skip breakfast and avoid drinking liquids, depending on the time of your surgery. Also, do not wear eye makeup on the day of surgery. Upon arrival at the facility, you will be given eye drops to dilate your pupils and perhaps a sedative to help you relax. A local or topical anesthetic will make the operation painless. (Click link to play this part) The skin around your eye will be thoroughly cleansed, and sterile coverings will be placed around your eye and head. Under an operating microscope, at least one small incision is made into the eye. The surgeon will then remove your cloudy lens (the cataract). This procedure can be performed using an ultrasound-driven instrument that "sonically" breaks up the cataract (phacoemulsification) as it is suctioned (aspirated) out of the eye. In another surgical method, special instruments are used to mechanically break up the cloudy lens into small pieces (phacofracture) and remove them directly from the eye through a small incision. The surgeon will insert a plastic or silicone IOL inside the eye to replace the natural lens that was removed. Most incisions used for cataract surgery are self-sealing. However, on occasion, incisions may need to be sutured. When stitches are used, they rarely need to be removed. http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/cataract-surgery.htm

    Blondie

Ain't nuttin wrong with rockin' the babies, that's for sure.
  7. Great stuff! I'm quite fond of the Donald Byrd version as well. Ironically, the original version by Duke Pearson, the writer of said piece, leaves me cold.
  8. anyone have a picture of 5/6?
  9. I'm not so sure I would be quite as tough on the whole system overall. There are some behavioral tenets that parallel common sense, such as "Treat others with respect", "A soft answer turns away wrath." and so forth. On the other hand, there are the doctrinal tenets that deal with such things as people being raised from the dead, limitless supplies of food staples, miraculous healings and that sort of thing. Maybe it would be helpful to make a distinction between the doctrinal tenets and the behavioral tenets.
  10. Definitely food for critical thought and closer examination, Steve.
  11. See? This stuff is what makes it so implausible that everything fits like a hand in a glove, every word is God-breathed, yada, yada.----"Follow me."/"Don't follow me." The contradiction is obvious.
  12. The guy to my left, I don't recognize. The guy between Norbert and Larry is, I think, Bruce D!ll. (Not a very good picture of him, if it is.) Answer to the other question is Cathy Dech@nt. Lots of faces missing-----must have been some other function going on that day.
  13. Once again, I was incorrect in thinking this would be easily recognized. It's by The Association.FREE POST!
  14. "I took the Advanced Class in New Knoxville around 1972 or so... Victor taught that homosexuality was a devil spirit in that class. delusional pea-brain" I'll bet that hot root we had to chew at the initiation into the inner sanctum was really some kind of magic potion to ward off debuhl spurts. Too bad VP didn't chew any of it.
  15. Yes. I personally think this is the point in time when The Stones were at their peak. (Before the unfortunate demise of Brian Jones, the heart and soul of the original group) BTW----That's Nicky Hopkins on piano and Brian Jones on mellotron.
  16. Jack is smokin' on what sounds like a Musselwhite tune!!
  17. The word you're hearing is not "Angel" but you're on the right track.
  18. Oh, but surely you DID wear such a dress. :P
  19. The only things those guys are likely to change are the burned out light bulbs on the fountain of tainted water.
  20. Have you seen her all in gold? Like a queen in days of old She shoots colors all around Like a sunset going down Have you seen a lady fairer?
  21. Every time I think that I'm the only one who's lonely someone calls on me.
  22. Might be interesting to extend this to favorite album. My first choice is Rubber Soul, with Revolver close behind it. Edit: The reason I put this out there is because each album is like a work unto itself. Thematic, in a sense.
