  1. I guess this is an example of how time and place had an effect on the message. During my time in The Way (70s-80s), the lowest of the low were those who were born-again of the wrong seed. And boy, howdy! Wasn't everybody who had achieved a high level of success in the world? But here's the catch. Supposedly, this is the only unforgivable sin. So, even though homosexuality was considered to be a very base form of spiritual corruption, there was supposedly hope that it, unlike the unforgivable sin, could be reversed. Needless to say, I have a very different perspective on both issues today than I did back then.
  2. I think you might develop a much different perspective on life if you stop trying to figure out how Satan does this, that or the other thing.
  3. Work, schmirk----Just have some fun. What's the hurry? I'm not sure if you can ever totally get over it. But, hey!----So What? There are plenty of people here who can relate to your experience. And don't forget, there is more to Greasespotcafe than just the forums. You can use the P.M.(private message) service and there is a chat room, as well. Plus, there is a ton of very informative "stuff" that you can access from the home page.
  4. Not exactly my cup of tea but here ya go TLB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc8y0DL8Hr4

  9. Word Over the World----W.O.W. Ambassadors
  10. I think, at some point, one needs to come to grips with the reality that it was the program, itself (whichever one you were involved with) that was corrupt at it's core.
  11. You'll know you are "getting a life" when you finally accept that Pollyanna was a fictional character and life doesn't always go on "happily ever after". But you learn to make the best of it anyway.
  12. Now that's something I've never thought about. People still want to compare him to David and Paul, while it is quite clear from his dying words (If we can really believe the story.) that he considered himself to be much less.
  13. Hey, there, Balanced. Isn't it amazing how, when you were still in, people would tell you how much they "just loved you" but forgot you ever existed after you left? Oh----and welcome to GSC,
  14. I have to believe there are ex followers of The Peoples Temple who could tell you about good times they had back in "the good old days". But look where it all led. Likewise, I'm sure people from the various Way programs can recall events and experiences that were pleasant. I know I can think of quite a few. What bothers me, though, is knowing that we were unwittingly being used for deviant purposes. The bottom line is that Wierwille used us as an unpaid sales force to hawk his wares. And they were ultimately proven to be faulty wares, to boot. I guess it's just easier to remember how much fun it was to race down the freeway at 100 miles an hour with the wind in your hair than to think about the tortuous agony of the family in the car that crashed and burned when you ran it off the road.
  15. NOPE!! You don't even have to tell me it "blessed you" and you "learned a spiritual lesson from it". In fact, please don't!
  16. And don't forget about angels of the morning.
  17. A little welcoming "gift". (You don't have to give it back.)
  18. Is that verse exclusionary? Does it mean that's ALL we should speak of?
  19. "David was a man after God's heart" The thing that's important to understand here is that this is in reference to a period in David's life BEFORE all the doodoo hit the fan. Wierwille made it sound like this categorization of David was made in spite of his egregious errors. A proper understanding of the chronology involved sheds a whole new light on the issue.
  20. Actually, this subject has been discussed at great length here on GSC, though I can't recall any threads from the past year and a half or so. This stuff was very, very popular in the early twentieth century and saw a resurgence of interest in the 1950s. HERE is one guy who brought an awareness of it to the masses.
  21. And here I thought she was winking at ME!
  22. You could always start a singing group to promote your product. Instead of The Singing Ladies, you could call it The Swinging Babushkas.
