Actually, I think that particular scooter (1976) was a fully restored, 1949 Indian Chief. He had lots of bikes. Kick azz classic cars, too. They were kept hidden away from the eyes of the ABS-ing general populace.

You heard it here first, folks, The Way has cooties.

I think it's about being able to do this http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://themindperspective.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/bend_spoon.jpg&imgrefurl=http://themindperspective.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/the-brain-adapts-in-a-blink-to-compensate-for-missing-information/&usg=__n7dR6tTPw9rEi8SQvaFB1ngHEfk=&h=440&w=640&sz=68&hl=en&start=24&itbs=1&tbnid=VzjJvmde5uAeOM:&tbnh=94&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbending%2Bspoons%26start%3D20%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26tbs%3Disch:1 .

"What has the word cost you?" Isn't this really a euphemistic way of saying, "Your efforts to sell PFAL are currently substandard. Step it up"

I still speak in tongues. Only now, I don't give any spiritual significance to it. Here's an example. Suppose I have misplaced my car keys. I can speak in tongues and sorta zone out from what's going on around me. I can usually find the keys. But, and this is critical, it only works if I already know where the keys are but have forgotten. If I don't actually know where the keys are, it doesn't work at all. Another thing I use it for is to take my mind off pain. If I smack my thumb with a big hammer, I can speak in tongues and take my focus off of the pain. People have suggested I try other techniques, as well. But, why should I? I already know how to s.i.t.

I'm not interested in debating whether the record in Acts is true or not. I do think, though, that it's possible what this record is saying is that these cats spoke in their native languages but people in the audience who didn't know those languages were somehow able to understand them. I speak English. But, suppose I addressed a group of people who spoke French, Spanish, German, Polish, etc. (but no English) and they still understood me. That's what I'm saying. No idea whether that's what this record is trying to say. It's just something that has kicked around in my head for decades.

It's glossolalia. And it has a different effect on mental function than what we loosely call "meditation". It predates Christ (so much for proof of "Christ in you") and has been practiced extensively by non_Christian peoples. http://www.skepdic.com/glossol.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossolalia

Absolutely! Establishing a sequence of priority was one of the key elements of "the lift list". edit Here's some food for thought. 1.Leaders were supposed to be at the top of the list. 2.You were only supposed to picture the person you were "lifting" in a positive light. 3.Speaking in tongues has been proven to decrease your level of resistance to suggestibility. (Reduces your ability to think on a critical level) Now do the math. -
And there are still people who don't think it was a money grabbing scam???

Isolation and insulation. They've perfected the use of both.

And if they stare Just let them burn their eyes on you moving And if they shout Don't let them change a thing what you're doing

Abi's statement regarding "speaking in tongues" included a caveat. "basically harmless as long as it isn't interfering with your ability to function in life." For some people, it DID interfere with their ability to function in life. People used "speaking in tongues" to try to solve all sorts of real-life problems that needed realistic intervention. Things like cancer, depression, poverty, homelessness, personal safety and more. It went hand in hand with the "law of believing". And there is hard core scientific evidence that it suppresses one's ability to think critically, thus leaving one in a state of mental vulnerability. We used it in TWI to self delude ourselves into a misguided allegiance to a corrupt organization.

Sorry, dude, the "law of believing" is bogus. There is nothing Biblical about it. Maybe VP Wierwille watched Pinocchio one too many times. HERE

Now remember, you can't listen to this video by yourself. It just wouldn't be a very church-like thing to do.

Were you thinking about The Green River Laws, The Blue Laws, or just the part about dangling your toes in the creek?
-
Oh, limb leaders had "cleaning ladies", too, who assisted with various household duties when said limb leaders' wives were away on ministry business. (1970s)
-
And then there's Sunday School. It convenes on an impromptu basis here on GSC threads. I generally duck out the back door and head down to the creek to dangle my toes in the water.

That's like asking if B.G. Leonard ever took PFAL. As I recall, Calvary Chapel and Vineyard spun, in part, out of the work Jim Doop was doing.
-
In the early years of the PFAL class, the collaterals were not hardbound into volumes, they were individual tract-like booklets. One of those booklets was called The Synchronized Life. It was later incorporated into "The Blue Book" as chapter 4. This was part of the overall teaching on believing = receiving, confessing positives, etc. That particular translation of Agape appears there in a somewhat paraphrased form. My point is that, perhaps, an investigation of that particular chapter may unearth the original source.
