I read it years ago, though I don't recall if it was mandatory. It's no wonder VPW recommended this guy's work. He probably saw him as some sort of role model.

soul searcher I hope you know we're funnin' with you. "Private interpretation" is at the heart of all that is "evil" in Wayville. -

Oh my God! By TWI standards, you've just committed blasphemy! :P "Knowing this WHEN, class?-- FIRST ---NO prophesy of the scriptures is of any WHAT, class?--PRIVATE INTERPRETATION. Dat's Riiiiiiggggghhhhht! God's Word has a purpose for everything it says----where it says it, when it says it, how it says it and to whom it says it. You see, class, it fits like a hand in a glove, with scientific precision and mathematical accuracy. In this class on power for abundant living I'm going to teach you to be able to understand it in a way that you'll "know that you know that you know", beyond a shadow of a doubt, what it really means. And, if you still don't understand what it means, you just write to me, "The Teacher" and I'll TELL you what it means." disclaimer: somewhat paraphrased and condensed on account of my memory ain't what it used to be. -
Well said, Groucho Sad thing is, I remember when Gary D. went off grounds in 1973 or 1974 and was killed in a car wreck. All the buzz around the ministry was that the reason he died was because he defied revelation from the man of God. ----Sick, Sick, Sick

If anyone could put it in the correct perspective, I knew it would be you.

Good point, excie. And there were those, also, who died trying to prove the law of believing was real.

I doubt you'll find many here who read I Ching during their TWI years. That sort of thing was considered to be a "counterfeit from the pit of hell". Reading that sort of thing was thought to be an invitation to the devil to sneak in through the trap door of your unrenewed mind. (Fallacious Spirit)

I'm sure there are probably people who are alive today because of their Way involvement, though I can't think of any specific examples. On the other hand, there are also people who are dead today because of their Way involvement. For those, I can think of specific examples. But, my point, really, was that the expression, itself, became somewhat of a pledge of allegiance to the organization. Except in specific, verifiable cases, it was really just a parroted phrase that perpetuated itself down through the years as a rallying cry to remain loyal to the cult. People repeated it without any real concern for it's veracity.

Well, here's the kicker for you. In The Way, you might have been labeled as having a "Spirit of Slumber"--Romans 11:8 (can't see the truth of God's Word)-----from page 20/AC -

Here is what Wierwille taught in the Advanced Class. Page 19 A born-again believer may become afflicted with evil spirits. The spirits may affect or possess mind and/or body, but not spirit. A daughter of Abraham (believer). Compare Luke 13:16; Romans 4:3,11,16; 9:6-8. Illustration. (a) Natural man of just body and soul would not murder. (b) Spiritual man of body, soul and spirit would not murder. © Thus, one in whom a spirit of murder dwells is the only one who would murder. Disclaimer: I personally believe this stuff is a load of horse crap but you wanted some scriptures so there ya go. EDIT FWIW---This verbiage is inconsistent with Wierwille's phrasing (he would never interchange the words "evil spirit" with "devil spirit" unless he was quoting someone.), leading me to believe he swiped this from one of the multitude of sources he plagiarized. -

Seriously, though? Wierwille frequently pretended God was talking to him. Much of the information he expounded regarding conspiracies and world events came straight from information pipelines he had established with white supremacy groups, such as Liberty Lobby. That didn't stop him from leading us to believe he was getting this information via revelation from God. He had already convinced us, with his "snow on the gas pumps" story, that he had a hot-line to the divine.

"when a woman has her menses, the blood is not fresh, but is already old, so to speak, which is why it is being discarded." This is not consistent with our current knowledge of female physiology.
