Technically, what they said was that if you didn't abundantly share, there would be a break in God's "hedge of protection", thus leaving you vulnerable to attacks from the adversary. Or, more precisely translated----"God made your kid sick because you were not 'abundantly sharing'".

If we're really living the "abundant life" (as portrayed in session one of PFAL) why would we need to worry about trivial matters such as how much booty wipe we use? Oh, wait! Now I remember.
