Hey there, longgone Life sure can throw some weird stuff in your direction when you're not looking. I don't usually try to assign too much deep meaning to any of it, though. Maybe that's just how I am. There was another poster here with the same handle a few years ago. He later changed his screen name to LG. I'm sorry to say, he passed away some time ago. I'm looking forward to your contribution to this wacky place we call GSC. Hope you like lemon meringue. (It's on the house.)

No one recognized this as La La Means I Love You? Sorry----free post? -
TWI insisted everyone fit their cookie-cutter prototype. Hell! You weren't even supposed to use the word "creative"! (Only Gaaawd can create, dontcha know?) For whatever it's worth, we're here and pulling for you.

PFAL syllabus/ page #1 THE WORD OF GOD IS THE WILL OF GOD John 10:10 THE GREATEST SECRET IN THE WORLD THE BIBLE IS THE REVEALED WORD AND WILL OF GOD Listening with a purpose/ session #1/ question #1 Q. What is the greatest secret in the world today? A. The Bible is the revealed word and will of God. Page #2 The Word means what it says and says what it means. The Word has a purpose for everything it says, the way in which it is said, where it is said, how it is said, to whom it is said, when it is said. Page #6 The Bible as The Word of God is "God-breathed" Page #10 GOD is the LOGOS-THE WORD CHRIST is the LOGOS-IN PERSON BIBLE is the LOGOS- in WRITING with, PROS= together with yet distinctly independent of Page #11 The Bible is the Living Word in action. This is how I remember it, as well. In fact, Wierwille, himself, stated, somewhere, that he had recently changed his stance on the number of days between the ascension and Pentecost, due to new research. I think he did that for "show". When people would question us about contradictions, we would parrot back this same line and incident as if it was proof we were willing to change our stance. -

Re: "There may be discrepancies and errors in the sacred writings, but those truths that God wished to see included in the Scripture, and which are important to our salvation, are placed there without error... the Bible is not inerrant in detail, but God has ensured that no substantial errors, which mislead us about the nature of salvation, are to be found in Scripture." The "reality" is that the Bible is a book that's been cobbled together from copies of copies of copies, ad infinitum. The inerrancy line of thought embraces the concept that God not only inspired their content but their very assemblage, as well. There is a similar line of thinking that is used to rationalize Wierwille's plagiarism. ("Yeah, VPW stole the materials from Stiles, Bullinger, Kenyon, etc., but God told him how to put it all together.") I don't personally share that opinion on either inerrancy of the Bible or Wierwille's works. -

Yeah. It smells suspiciously similar to the load of crap Wierwille was shoveling. This kind of thinking completely ignores the reality of how the Bible came to exist as a physical entity. -
Yeah, you got a point. Dr. Wierwille (You do know he wasn't really a "Doctor", right ?) never put anybody on the stretch rack or applied thumbscrews. He did, however, put date-rape drugs in the drinks of young ministry women so he could rape them on the motorcoach. I wonder how you would feel if he had done that to your mother.

Thought you might enjoy the original. :B)

When I first got in the word, I was very into the music scene. I heard dozens of these from believers who were trying to show me "the true" meaning of these things. Some are quite comical. was an invitation for the devil to posses you.Spirit (the band) adopted their name to reflect their true devilish nature. King Crimson was supposedly another name for the devil so that meant they were "seed". Santana sounded like Satana so that meant it was "from the pit". and on and on and on and on------ And don't even get me started on the Rolling Stones album, Their Satanic Majesty's Request

And Mr. Wierwille was oh-so eager to instruct you in the CORRECT interpretation of those scriptures that you thought held errors or contradictions. Step right up and plunk down your hard earned cash for another glimpse into enlightened understanding of the apparent inerrancy. -
Wierwille deliberately took John 10:10 out of context and misrepresented its message despite his insistence on understanding scripture in light of its context. Then he built an entire class/ministry around its misrepresentation. I'm not so sure I can interpret that as "starting out good". I have no interest in comparing The Way to the RC Church. The analogy is a "strawman" at best.
-
Still comparing The Way to the first century church? Reflecting on my years spent living in a Way commune has shown me such comparison is a cruel delusion.

There is a poster who frequents this site who calls them TVT's (TWI Verbal Traditions). He insists that any adverse effects of TVT's must be our own fault because we listened to them. Another twist of "blame the victim".

So did anyone try and stop the Cyclops' reign?
waysider replied to Bolshevik's topic in About The Way
He had armed guards and thugs that he dispatched to silence the naysayers. I think there must have been a reason for that. -
Some people see Wierwille as a guy who started out good and then went bad. I see wierwille as a guy who started out bad and then went nuts.

Many guys have come to you with a line that wasn't true and you passed them by. -
Yes, that's what Wierwille taught. It's like I said before, he conveniently pulled out the "counterfeit" explanation wherever and whenever it worked to his advantage.

From what I understand, dreams are merely your mind's method of dealing with unresolved issues. From that perspective, they have definte meaning, but the meaning is not transferable from one person's dreams to the next person's dreams. In other words, a red Corvette may mean something specific in my dream and something entirely different in yours. Have you ever had this happen? You're pushing a shopping cart through the grocery store and every so many feet you get zapped with an electrical shock. Why? Because static electricity builds up in the cart until it reaches a point of discharge. Same thing with your mind. It can only hold just so much "energy" before it needs to discharge. This is so much more comforting that TWI's explanation that "dreams are caused by devil spirits". So, in TWI, if you had dreams, how could you discuss or consider them when doing so meant you were confessing to devil spirit influence? It doesn't seem very healthy to suppress the reality of what's really taking place.

Yes to both questions. As part of the Fellow Laborer program, we were required to work full time at secular jobs while living in a commune styled compound. I think the inconsistancies were probably obvious to at least some of our non-Way coworkers. We frequently had to rationalize and justify our involvement to people at our jobs who had honest questions. I think, to some extent, it may partially explain why people can come to GSC after being out for several years, and still feel they have to justify the time and effort they put into a false endeavor back in "the good ol' days".
