Here's another strange twist of logic that popped into my head. Since we weren't supposed to actively seek "happiness", we started to accept that it was OK to not be happy. We accepted this false sense of "joy" that was supposed to come from "doing the work of the ministry" as a viable substitute. Now, of course, there will be those who will say "Joy is a fruit of the spirit." "Joy comes only from God."---------- Funny thing is, though, that's the kind of stuff they used to use to justify the work we did.

THE "wolf" is not dead. THE "wolf" is that parcel of insidious thought and behavior patterns that were drummed into us in TWI. Wierwille was not THE wolf, he was just one of the pack who had aspirations of maintaining the alpha male slot. THE wolf is still very much alive and menacing.

Hi, Lisa Here's an example of that "wacky" logic: When I was in Fellow Laborers, I happened to find myself on a work detail assigned to clean the limb BRC one day. We had visitors from Int. HQ that day.----(Side note: VPW never once visited our program in the whole three years I was there.) One of the visitors asked me how I felt about mopping the floor. I responded by telling him that, although I didn't enjoy mopping floors, it gave me a sense of satisfaction to know that people would be "blessed" by my efforts. He shook his head in a display of disapproval and chewed me out for not renewing my mind to enjoy it. He said some day, maybe I would "get it" and then turned and walked away. Now that's "wacky".

To the best of my knowledge, Macy's has never sent armed thugs to anyone's door to warn them not to speak evil of Macy's.

We were taught early on that "happiness" was a shallow natural man emotion and we were to seek, instead, after "joy". The problem is, TWI indirectly defined "joy" as an emotion you derived from doing things that were beneficial to the advancement of "the ministry". Sure, there were tapes and way ragazine articles and teachings about joy in the Bible, but it was understood you couldn't have joy if you were out of fellowship and you couldn't be in fellowship if you left the safety of the household. So, in essence, it was supposed to be "normal" to not experience happiness. What a twisted mess of wacky logic the whole thing was.

I don't know about the upside down tomatoes but my Dad always planted his tomatoes in a furrow. You lay them down horizontally and cover just the roots. Then, after they right themselves vertically you mulch around the base. That's supposed to make for a strong stem base. I don't know if it really makes that much difference but it never seemed to hurt them.

Hi, Kimberly The Way has people whose job it is to monitor GSC and compile information that will allow them to identify various posters. They are laughingly referred to as the "WayGB". (A play on words referencing the Soviet KGB) I'm sure by now they know who I am, even though I was a basic "nobody" during my time in the organization. I did know some of the "old-timers", though, and that is why I make that statement. If you would like a bit of insight on the process, go to the home page, find the main menu, to the left, and click on radio. Once you are there, go to page 2 where you will find episode #2 called Conversations with Belle. Part of what is discussed is how she interacted with the WayGB as she was in the process of leaving The Way. (short cut) http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/radio/...with-belle.html It's good listening for anyone, really. I hope that information is helpful.

Do you remember how, when the auditorium was being built, it was not acceptable to abbreviate the name? Geeze! Talk about a red flag!

"Taking it private" is a euphemism for "the lockbox". It's not respectable or the right thing to do. It only perpetuates the sort of secret agenda that permeated TWI.

Yes, I read her post. Did I see another incident with Wierwille? No. I did see "virtually unscathed", though. You see, Oldies, the issue is now, not whether or not she had another encounter with Wierwille but, the fact that you erroneously drew that conclusion from the omission of any reference to it in the body of the post. I fail to see anything moronic about that observation.

And you know this-----HOW?

Well, now I'm confused. First you said it wasn't sexual in nature and now you say it IS sexual in nature. What has changed that has suddenly caused the reversal of perception? I mean, either it was sexual or it was not.

So what's the problem , Oldies? When it involved a woman you didn't see it as a sex act. Why would it now be homosexual? You said yourself it was just an innocent back rub. I would think you would be honored to give the man of God something as innocuous as a back rub. What's the difference?
