  1. Waking in the morning with the love of my life snoring beside me. Thirty eight years with the love of my life snoring beside me. My cat Saucy...who is! Having son and daughter in law and grandkids living ten minutes away...finally! Life in general.
  2. Maybe this should be in Doctrinal..I don't know. Here in East TN we have been in the high 90's w/o rain for over 29 days. I don't know if it is available to pray for rain. I am aware of the time when Jesus stopped a storm and when Elijah prayed for rain, but I believe those were "Revelation Moments". We are in dire need of rain here, we are 1/2 of normal, and I can barely keep things alive in my garden. Can anyone give me insight. AsI said, maybe this should be in another forum, but this one seemed as good as any! Thanks for any help! Tracy
  3. Wow, Socks! What memories you brought back to me. what was the name of that bar in San Anselmo? The Lion's Den?? Ted and I were there a number of times when CM played there. Loved it!! You all really rocked! Glad you saw Tommy again, some memories are so sweet from those early days.

    Snooty Pans

Well, I am a snooty pans person too, Sushi! My first set was Revere Ware with copper bottoms. Then I graduated to the original Calphalon. No non-stick for me! A well seasoned pan will never stick! ;) I also will only have a gas stove. I always burn things I cook on an electric range. Of course my favorite pan is a cast iron frying pan....fried chicken...yum!!!!!!!!!!

    Age difference

I know this is opposite of what you are involved in Cowgirl, but Aquilla and I have a 17 yr. difference. He is older. It has never made a difference. Respect and love are what are important. Sure he likes Jazz, and I like rock and roll, but it probably would be like that if we were the same age! We have been together for 38 wonderful years, and I don't regret a moment!
  6. Here's to you sweet suda...and many more!
  7. Gotta put my 2 cents in here! When we moved here ten years ago, it was a tremendous change from Mill Valley, CA. We were just north of San Francisco, and it is a very beautiful area. Then as we searched for a place to retire we discovered East Tennessee. We live in West Knoxville, and it is gorgeous! We are close to a river, have a boat, live in an older subdivision with lots of trees. The home prices average around $180,000, and you get a lot of house for that. We are also close to the Smokies, and a lot of places are an easy 4-6 hour drive. The University of TN has an awesome school of Vetrinary, and is a big employer. The wages are average, and the people are great! Anyway, Dot, we have been here for ten years and still love it!
  8. Congratulations you two! So blessed to have known you both, and thankful you are still a fantastic couple!
  9. Thinking of them today. We knew them in CA. Anyone know if they are still in VA?

    Romantic Oldies

"Never My Love" by the Association. Hubby and I have been together 38 yrs. and this is our song!
  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! May you have a great dayand year to come.
  12. I took the class in December of "69 in Mill Valley, Ca. Jimmy Doop ran the class. We never smoked pot at any time during the class, although we did smoke at home before the class. We never smoked at twig, although we did in social situations. There are a lot of "urban legends" out there, just be sure of the source before you believe it all! We always made sure that we never smoked around new people, and only smoked with people who already smoked before they got in the Word. It was never a common thing in our area to have "pot smoking" classes or fellowships. Maybe we were the exception, but I don't think so.

    quirks

Dot, it's a quirk! I don't know why it just feels better! I also hate to stop under overpasses. I think that's from the earthquake in San Francisco when part of the freeway came down on the Bay Bridge. It weirds me out to sit there even though I live in TN now. Earthquakes aren't a big thing here.

    quirks

I always put my left sock and shoe on first. For some reason they seem to fit better that way! I also always count the eggs as I put them in that little plastic thing in the fridge...even tho' I know there are 12 in a dozen.
  15. Awww, Socks! We feel the same about you. I just realized that on one of our trips to Maui you and the Mrs stayed at our house and took care of our business. That was a "few" years ago!
  16. We are so blessed to have made great friends while in the Way. We still are close to a number of them, even tho we moved far away! We also like to think that Sox and the Mrs are still friends! Great pix of Maui, Sox.
  17. Hi Shell, What I do is add a can of Rotel mild and use panko Japanese bread crumbs along with an egg. It is moist and tasty w/o being too spicy. My grandson, who is the pickiest!, loves it!
  18. I am now "Johnny Slaughter".........guess I gotta get e s e x change!
  19. We usually go to friends on Christmas Eve, so it's whatever they serve. On Christmas morning I make Eggs Benedict and fresh squeezed OJ, but first we have coffee and presents! We've been doing this for 37 years, so I guess it's a tradition.
  20. NiKA, They are doing great! Have two kids, and are still catching the big ones! Jim is in TN with his son, and Karol is still in KS with daughter. They are still together, but Jim's had a job change, and since the girl only had one more yr of HS they decided it was best for her to finish there. Lots of frequent flyer miles being racked up!

    Stock Market

One of the best pieces of advice we ever received was to know our risk tolerance. My husband has been very successful investing, and we have learned a lot by reading everything we can get our hands on. You have to realize that it is not an overnite thing. We don't day trade at all, in fact we are totally in Mutual Funds. Diversification is another biggie! Don't put all your eggs in one basket is a truism that will always stand the test of time. There are many good books out there, you really have to research and decide how best to invest for you. Also, remember the power of compounding, leave your money to grow, and don't get antsy to make a killing! Best wishes to you, you will succeed if you realize there aren't any shortcuts, just a lot of patience and dare I say it, a little bit of luck! Priscilla

    Southern Heritage

Having grown up in So. Massachusetts, moving to SF in the hippie area, and now living in TN, I can say the south is the best. We moved here nine yrs. ago, and from the first I felt at home. I missed the change of seasons in Mill Valley, and the gentleness of a hot summer night. We lived in MV for 28 yrs, and I don't miss it a bit! I love rooting for the Volunteers, going down the Tennessee River in our pontoon boat , and hearing Lou Vuto do an awesome "dixie" in his Tribute to Elvis Show. I just don't want too many people to know how great Knoxville is! I am saying Y'all with pride and a slight southern accent, and I love grits! Thanks Sudo for this thread, it's fun!
  24. Suda, Thanks for those kind words. I also haven't always agreed with what has been taught in my 30 odd(!) years of studying the Bible. All I know is the fruit I have seen in the Hills, and also in their children. We all are human, and will all make mistakes. I know I have made a few in life. One thing I do know is that God is loving, kind and fair, so I'll let him judge. Meanwhile I will try to be the best for Him and look to the Word for truth. As far as the topic, as someone said,(was it dmiller?), who cares? I just want to be in the book of Life. That's what counts to me!
