  1. I do not recall when I heard about Elvis' death. I think that I would have just finished Navy bootcamp, and started at the submarine school in Groton Ct, at that time.
  2. As retired military, I usually salute. But then I wear a dress uniform in parades too :) I attend VFW meetings [where I am the post chaplain], and all vets there salute the flag. I was not aware that any such law existed to direct us not to salute.
  3. I like the adult moments, though more often I end up drinking rum.
  4. I worked harvesting Almonds and driving tractors pulling trailers filled with almonds [even crossing I-99 freeway] when I was 12. My first pay-check with taxes with-held was 15 working full-time in a hobby-store. Radio-controlled airplanes, cars and boats. Then a pizza parlor, and then an A&W Rootbeer and hamburger stand. We had waitresses in mini-skirts and on skates. It was fun!

    Your Avitar...

I was using my photo, but then changed it to my Kosovo Campaign Medal [killing Christians for Clinton] :)
  6. I do love those Australians :)

    Vegetarians/Vegans

Bluzeman- We have a very similar problem here. We have wild turkeys and beaver who wander across the roads near our home. We did hit a beaver once and lost the bumper and front end alignment. But it is the turkeys that are most often seen on the pavement. They are huge and when you hit them you are definitely going to lose a headlight, or ding the grill. But it is all forest on both sides of the road. Swerving means your going to go down into the ditch and right into trees. Around here you do not swerve. Now I have seen moose standing in the road. And I have always stopped for them and honked. I have been fortunate to have never hit a moose. Though I see it in the local paper routinely where folks do hit the moose. It pretty much always total a car, and commonly enough kills the driver. But hitting them straight on with speed, you have a chance of it coming down on your car behind the front seat and flattening everything on the rear half of the car, but only if you hit them fast enough. Still nobody recommend swerving.

    Pit Bulls

Wow, What a porcupine. Smoking what? No, really I have never thought of you as 'offensive' in any manner.

    Pit Bulls

I would only comment in that saying that "animals by nature are more cruel than humans ever thought of being", I think that perhaps you are forgetting 'female humans'.

    Pit Bulls

Some nations do not hesitate to eliminate breeds entirely. Our eldest son has a pit bull. His Ex-girlfriend gave it to him, and she made such a huge deal of it that he felt really compelled to accept it. Now that he has had it a year, he is attached. Though training has been difficult, and trying to understand the dog's personality has been a real stretch for our son. I have told him many times of the dangers of pits, as well as difficulties. But now that he has had it for so long, and feels attached to it. We wait and see. :)
  11. By freely giving us his home phone number and e-mail address, and openly inviting anyone to speak with him and length; he seems very willing to me.
  12. I find it hard to imagine that this will discourage anything.
  13. Has anyone else seen this? Ouch http://www.gwinnettdailypost.com/index.php...hange_well_id=2 ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia Supreme Court has turned down an appeal from a teen who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for having sex with a 15-year-old. In a ruling released Friday, the court denied a motion for reconsideration filed by lawyers for Genarlow Wilson, who was 17 when he and the 15-year-old engaged in consensual oral sex. He was sentenced for aggravated child molestation. Wilson's case was one of two cases that were cited earlier this year when lawmakers passed a law that otherwise strengthened penalties for sex offenders, but reduced the penalty from a felony to a misdemeanor for some teenagers convicted of sodomy. Presiding Justice Carol Hunstein noted that in easing the penalties for teens, ''the Legislature expressly chose not to allow the provisions of the new amendments to affect persons convicted under the previous version of the statute.'' Hunstein added she was ''very sympathetic to Wilson's argument regarding the injustice of sentencing this promising young man with good grades and no criminal history to 10 years in prison without parole and a lifetime registration as a sexual offender because he engaged in consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old victim only two years his junior,'' but said the court was bound the by limits set by the Legislature.
  14. Shellon Fockler-North - LOL This is so weird, today, earlier today, I was on another board and advising a high school teen [who was saying that she really wants to go into social work] that it is a field which leaves a lot of dis-satisfied workers. Maybe she should keep looking and find something else to pursue. :)
  15. I am so happy that my experiences in foster-care, was able to help you to describe why you find social work to be a poor career choice. In Ct, we found that the young fresh case-workers, were often put into group homes filled with predators and 'zoo animals' children just to dull the shine in the young case-worker's eyes. So by the time that they finally got onto the street, they were no longer the idealistic 'save the world' do-gooders, but rather very sour folk.
  16. Chrages are filed. It goes before a judge. No judge is going to rule without the recommendation of case-workers [besides not nearly enough government money has been spent]. So he will assign DCF [Department of Children and Families, or whatever that state calls it] to investigate. DCF case-workers will enter the home to 'investigate'. If the family is nice and willingly opens their home to a complete investigation, ??? Case-workers will take their notes and recommend that the child see a therapist [because they are not qualified to make psychiatric diagnosis, and not nearly enough government money has been spent]. The therapist will ask a bunch of in-appropriate questions, of a nature that the child has never considered, and the child will then begin to focus on those topics. The therapist will label the child as sexually active, possibly sexually-abused. Which will go back to the case-workers, so a permanently open-file will be started for the family, and on the recommendation of the therapist a second sexual-abuse investigation will be started on the family. The courts will get all of this back into their lap, and will reason that since the child is now labeled as definitely abused and possibly of a nature to become abusive, he may or may not decide to remove all children from the home. and that everyone needs therapy. :) Did I mention that we have spent over eight years as licensed foster-parents? [2 in Ct, 4 in Wa, 4 in Ct again] :)
  17. Well that is just a bunch of horse poopie.
  18. We were involved with CES for a while. I went on a tour with them to Israel it was great. I carried the lights to every site, to allow for the filming of each teaching. I did not take notes, as we all knew that the video would soon be out and so I just enjoyed the teachings. A bunch of us worked on that project to get the filming just right. At each 'correct' location. That was in 2000. When I have asked about the video, I have been told that it is on a back burner and all but forgotten. John S. has an incredible in-depth knowledge of the 'Holy Lands'. He is capable of delivering wonderful teachings, at the correct sites, explaining what happened at each location. Would anyone be interested in watching these videos? Sure they would. But they would rather focus on visions about spiders. Our eldest son was tired of living in locations where there were no other like-minded believers, so he moved out there to be near CES, to be near a large group of like-minded believers. He took with him his own copies of PFAL on DVD, so he is very much familiar with exactly what doctrine is taught in each segment. He attended CES fellowships, and was troubled that each fellowship they would spend time, running down: "the evils that were taught in that other ministry". He spoke up numerous times, as they would launch into making up stuff that VPW 'taught'. He found that some of the CES fellowships have taken doctrines that WC taught to hurt folks and CES presents it all as taught in PFAL. He tried to fellowship with them, but he could not stomach the heaping of lies. [by all means there may be some error in PFAL, that topic has been debated endlessly. There is no good reason to make-up lies and attribute PFAL for other errors that folks came up with on their own.] We did list our fellowship on the CES list of fellowships; for a while when CES was a group of 20 committees, and very un-organized. But then they came out with a document that they wanted each fellowship coordinator to sign and swear to; before CES would further list your fellowship. I was given their 'code of conduct' contract to sign, and it was explained to us at that meeting. The leadership wanted their children to be able to travel and enjoy fellowships, and they wanted to ensure that the leadership's adult children would not be tempted to form any personal relationship with anyone not of CES leadership' choosing. So to protect their children from illicit adult relationships, they wrote their 'code of conduct' for fellowships. I love to pray with folks; to study the Bible with others, to share the Bible with others, and to love and assist others. I have already sworn oaths to our government to uphold the UCMJ, as well as the constitution. I swear an oath of allegiance to our National flag. I see no need to swear an oath to protect CES leadership' adult children from experiencing life. CES does appear to have some wonderful people involved with it. We will continue to pray for them. 19. We homeschool. We have been very active in churches. And our household has supported itself, very nicely over the years, thank you very much. Why would there be an assumption that having lots of children should cause one to become dependent on welfare?
