  1. It's a shame his medication wasn't able to help him with dementia. Apparently he forgot his profile states his age to be 98 yrs old. But even if he's 88 I agree with you that that's quite a testimony to modern medicine.
  2. Thanks but, I prefer a cold one and pastry isn't good for my teeth. :) Hmm . . . I suppose the fact that all the newbies who happen to partake of the discussion here also happen to have "gotten out" of TWI years ago has escape your attention. I can't speak for all the other "ignorant" newbies but I for one didn't depart TWI 'cause I had better things to do with my time. I left (in part) because I didn't like what I saw happening. Apparently, you, like so many others can't seem to understand us. That's fair enuf. I have a difficult time understanding how someone could have gotten out more than 10 or 20 yrs ago and yet still have issues they're dealing with. I don't mean to be unsympathetic -- but -- either God doesn't exist or you've decided He's not capable of healing your heart. If I recall -- wasn't that one of Jesus' mission -- to heal the broken-hearted?
  3. So, satori -- What's heaven like? :)

    WIPE OUT!

That's a goat who also happens to be a fool. :) Just gobble the dude whole Eyes! ;)
  5. Bumpy, that's a tad bit rude, don't ya think? Psalm that was a very thought provoking piece! I have a niece who did a number similar to the one you shared. I admire people who put their hearts into such productions to bless others. I was especially touched when the audience began to clap and cheer when the girl was delivered. I don't think any of us would deliberately set out to live a life depicted in this production -- but sometimes it's so easy to get drawn away. I think Dot would really enjoy the piece. Thanks for sharing this.
  6. Yoo hoo. Hey Eyes -- "fresh meat". Come and get it!!! ;) Welcome to GS Doug. Just remember one thing -- darn it -- I forgot what that one thing was. Enjoy!

    WIPE OUT!

It never ceases to amuse me whenever some good soul resorts to this sort of bs. Either you have nothing better to do with your time or else you think most members of this board aren't bright enuf to figure out if someone happens to be a troll. And what is even more amusing is that when someone finds it necessary to make this observation that person is in fact feeding a troll. I, personally, think some people are over-reacting to Bumpy's topic. It's not as if what he/she is suggesting will ever really happen. God forbid that you should consider -- What IF?

    WIPE OUT!

Good questions! Larry slips into his previous TWI mindset and answers the question (concerning a "threat"). I wouldn't waste a moment of my time even bothering to read GS. The Word tells us to "redeem" our time because the "days are evil". My time would be focused on reaching and teaching those who sincerely want to walk with God. To that end any time spent here would be wasting it. So, I wouldn't consider GS to be a threat because God is bigger and the proof of that is -- Christianity has survived through two centuries of attempts to eradicate it. If TWI was to go away -- God would just raise up someone else to carry His Word to the world. And if no one would answer the call -- then I suppose God would have to start speaking through rocks instead. Larry now slips back out of his TWI mindset. :)
  12. I never thought about it. You could be right but, I don't see anything wrong in asking questions -- especially when something said doesn't make sense to me. Well, I think you're wrong on both accounts. You could easily show me some examples supporting your assertion but then that endeavor would turn this topic into being about me. Oh wait a minute! You're already doing that. Clever. Oh, I noticed (that you were "messing" with me). Did you happen to notice I was playing your game? Gee, to think that some people have to be taught what comes naturally to me is flattering. ;) I find it interesting to observe how people handle being questioned regarding the assertions they make. If you believe something to be true then why get defensive when someone probes you? Just think -- if you or others here would have done that early in your tenure with TWI you might have gotten out sooner and spared yourself a lot of headaches. In any case -- I didn't find an instruction manual posted anywhere on GS on what is proper modes of discourse here. Although some good soul occasionally thinks it's his role to act as the official GS instructor. :) Look. If my questions offends you (or backs you into a corner), you can always ignore them. I don't get offended when people make that choice. At times I will do the same -- not necessarily because questions offend me. Thanks! You do likewise.
  13. I'm not aware of the "bible" being able to think at all. ;) But your point is understood. When you speak of the theology concerning omnipotent and omniscient I think a case can be made (from the Bible) that God has neither attributes. I don't recall which philosopher first promulgated this theology but, I think it was one which has cause great confusion. I'm not sure God's plan is all that unfathomable. We may lack the resolve to have faith in His plan but, that's not the same as not being able to understand it.
  14. I'm not so sure that's entirely accurate. I don't mean to bog down the central discussion but, this cite states the following: And from this cite this: Obviously you're right in so far as cells (both normal and cancerous) will eventually die -- all living things (composed of cells) will -- but life, itself, is a product of cells growing and multiplying. That seems to be "life of itself" to me. The field of biology is a fascinating one. You begin to appreciate just how wondrous the human body is and how cancer (although life in itself) actively attacks and shortens life. Something that doesn't seem to be part of God's plan. Which brings up the question: If death is not part of God's plan, whose plan is it? But of course -- that's a question more appropriately asked (and answered) in the Doctrinal forum. Yet, much of this topic, itself, belongs down there imo.
  15. Calm yourself Tbone. You're not being graded on this. :) These questions are ones which any person seeking answers should ask. If two people have different viewpoints of God how will they know which is the correct one? Surely God cares. Otherwise why bother having a bunch of men write down what is claimed to be His word and will? What "screwed" you up was able to "fix" others. I can't imagine that you took the class in the first place if you didn't think you needed "fixing" up. At the time you took it did you feel "fixed" or "screwed"? Funny how are perspective changes over the course of a few years (and through the efforts and testimony of others).
  16. Why are you asking me? Sit through PFAL again and you'll have your answer. :)
  17. My, oh my! It's a wonder so many of us were able to escape the brainwashing we all were subjected to while members of a brainwashing cult. Matter of fact -- it must have been a miracle! A mass-healing of the sort never before witnessed. Maybe that's why God led us to TWI -- so He could work a miracle the likes of which were never seen before and then we all would go out to the world and proclaim how God is still in the miracle business afterall. :)
  18. :) You're NOT permitted to ask such questions. Or have you forgotten so quickly?
  19. Oh, I don't know. I've seen people who have sat through the class more than 20 times and still get some things wrong. I personally have sat through the class more than 20 times. I think there's a few things I've forgotten but, in reading some of the comments about what was taught in PFAL I don't think what I've forgotten surpasses what others have. It's a by-product of making comments which don't make much sense. ;)
  20. Dot, one of the first questions I asked myself (when I first became a believer) was: If God knew Lucifer was going to rebel why did He create him in the first place? It took me years to discover a satisfactory answer. I don't recall the specifics of that answer but, it was satisfactory enuf that I never questioned it again. I don't know why God took so long in answering my question. Some questions are still unanswered and I might die before they are. It may not be enuf for you to wait until you meet God face to face but, sometimes the questions themselves can cause one to lose faith. I think that was one of the lessons one can learn in Job. It wasn't until Job focused on others that God was able to turn his captivity and restore to him more than he had before he started focusing on himself.
  21. Well, that doesn't help me out one bit. I can see many examples of so-called "committed" believers who faltered or stumbled in their walks with God. Does their stumbling make them non-committed believers? And Paul's saying: "The thing that I would not, that I do . . .. " especially comes to mind. Was Paul a non-committed believer because he did things which he knew he should not do?
  22. I think that Jesus, when faced with difficult questions, went to a solitary place and talked things out with God. Sometimes, talking things out openly with others only leads to greater confusion. Just a thought.
  23. How can cancer die, if it isn't alive to begin with? I don't think plant life is excluded in the saying (and this also applies to cancer per se). Plant life has growth life and so likewise does cancer. I think that that is what is referred to in the syllogism. In the case of cancer, however, the question arises -- If cancer is a mutation of healthy cells what caused the cells to mutate? If a "spirit" being has the power to take a healthy cell and turn it into an unhealthy one (either directly or through a process of genetic engineering -- passing it down from one generation to the next) couldn't it be said that ultimately cancer is a spiritual malady having it's origin in the Adversary of God? That is not to say that cancer itself is an indication of possession -- at least not today or in all cases -- but it's very likely that it might have been when cancer first made its appearance in mankind.
  24. Dot, perhaps you should re-read the book of Job. And then read it again and again. There must be a reason why God would have had Job written. Perhaps it was written to address questions such as yours and therefore the answers are found therein.
