  1. LOL, punctuation makes a big difference in how I might understand what you said about changing your mind or not. Really, it is not my intent to change anyone's mind. I really do not care, since it all happened before my time. That was one of those teachings I could never believe, and one which I never taught in all my years doing twigs and branches. It seemed to be a peculiar cherry picking of verses and contradicted everything I understood about science, life and God. Peace, take your time, and keep on keeping on.
  2. ok, maybe not a messed up translation, but how about failure to understand what is written in context? Try this- http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2010/10/19/rain-before-flood
  3. LOL Waysider, you were not alone in finding that statement out of line. Several others pointed out the fallacy of it in another discussion. I ascribe it to the fact that Vail was young and had not been in TWI long as an adult so he only knew what he had been told.
  4. While it is possible he has fled to Brazil, where one of his follower's has supported him before, he likely would have had to have left before the charges were filed since he was placed on the watch list after that. It is quite possible he is hiding out on an island off the coast of Washington. Does anyone know Craig Elmblad? That is the person who answered the door at the address on Barnard's driver license. Does anyone know if Mark Frontczak has left the group? He was known to have a business in Bellingham last year.
  5. Here is a good summary of the history of the group. http://www.startribune.com/local/256845191.html?page=all&prepage=1&c=y#continue
  6. if you know her real name, she does have a Facebook page.
  7. Is he still on the staff there? He was selling real estate with Adam Hirschfeld's mom a few years ago in New Bremen. Do they allow side jobs at TWIt City?

    Free Gesticulation

he may have been speaking a language...but he said the same 4 or 5 words over and over for 3 hours. Where have I seen that done before?
  9. This easy calculator may help people to have an estimate of what they will pay if they buy insurance through the health insurance Exchanges. It accounts for your income and the Federal subsidies you may receive to offset the cost of the premiums. This is only an estimate, based on a national average through all states. Your specific costs will vary by state. Enrollment on the Exchanges starts October 1st and will continue to March, but why wait? http://kff.org/interactive/subsidy-calculator/
  10. glad I could help. Please do review your medicare Part A/B/C/D coverages each year as your situations, coverages and needs can change each year. I still have a couple of years before I will need to really understand those, and maybe you can help me at that time. However, your Medicare Part A takes care of any requirements you would have under the Affordable Care Act.
  11. First of all, if one is on Medicare, I am pretty sure you do not need to purchase Health Insurance through the Marketplace Exchanges: http://www.medicare....arketplace.html Medicare recipients still have their regular open enrollment period and should do an annual review of their supplemental policies. In some states, information on those supplemental policies may be available at the same website as the Marketplace policies, but make sure you are looking at Medicare policies, not Marketplace ones. This page might help those who either are on Medicare now, or will be eligible soon- https://www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan/questions/home.aspx The answer to "where to get insurance" for others varies by state and depends on whether a state has moved ahead with the Insurance Exchanges or not. As for the "penalty tax" thing, that is a sliding scale thing based on income. If you have no income it will not be much of a factor to you. Even if you are working by that time, tax credits will offset much of the cost of the insurance you buy through the state Exchanges. (at least that is the way it is in my state). I suggest you might start at these US Department of Health pages and follow the links to the parts that apply to you to learn about the ACA and its requirements and benefits: https://www.healthcare.gov/families/ There is some specific info on the fee for not having insurance here: https://www.healthca...verage-in-2014/ As for Nevada (if that is where you still live), this is the website for getting specific information regarding the Insurance Marketplace and other options in the State of Nevada. http://www.carenv.org/index.php/en/
  12. I do not recall ever being asked to send a card to Vic, and certainly not any money, after any of the classes I ran. That page is missing from my instructor's manual maybe, but I just looked to be sure. If anyone wants to run a class I will loan you a set of audio tapes if you promise to send me adequate cash donations afterward. ;)
  13. funny DABA. @Twinky- when I searched the site for your printer and Win8 64bit it came up with the same driver. But underneath i is a link "No Windows 8 Driver?" That also shows on the 32 bit search though so I think it is always present even when it shows a driver for you, but it is confusing to see it (I saw that link first and almost thought it meant there was not a driver) I would give it a try. If it will not work I would think it would tell you when you try to install it. HP does anyway.
  14. Twinky, I am not sure if your spelling of Epson with an M instead of N was a typo or the reason for your problem, but Epson's site seems to show a Win8 driver for that machine. It may not be full featured, but it works on Win8 32 bit according to the site- http://esupport.epson-europe.com/FileDetails.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=lkuCfcvA9cw77whFcRdwis4JOQH9mtNd&id=375890
  15. It is my understanding that there will be a hearing, and provided he has not incurred blackmarks during his incarceration it is likely he will be released on parole followed by supervised probation. I cannot see the posts on the info site set up by the victims and have not found it on the official court docket yet, but I see the admin on that site and others have chattered about it.
  16. apparently he is up for parole this month sometime (October 2012)

    trefor haywood

hmm there is? I thought Open was where birthdays are most commonly celebrated and greeted.. I think that is where we are ;) Is there a special place I have not noticed in all these years? Oh, Bean was talking about the thread down in Archives. I always thought that was just stored threads from long ago (seeing as it says Archive) I didn't know anyone ever posted new stuff in there. Most new birthday threads are found here in Open. And if Trefor stops in here- Happy Birthday dude!
  18. was that the year a few TWIs were working at a restaurant around 38th and Kipling? I kept seeing green bumper stickers on cars there.
  19. LOL, true story from yesterday that immediately reminded me of this thread. I was in a golf tournament Saturday, a fund raiser for a friend's personal top cause. One of the other teams was made up of one of my longtime business customers and his friends. Over the last 20 years, we of course have known each other's political leanings. He is equally as strident in his views as I am in mine from the other side of the spectrum. Before the tournament, we got into a rather heated discussion and basically told the other they needed to google some things and learn the "truth". We attracted some concerned attention from others, most of whom knew nothing about either of us. After the tournament was over, dinner was being served. It was funny to see the reaction of those who had been concerned earlier when my business friend and I gravitated to the same table to eat together. I am certain they wondered if the earlier episode would be repeated. We both were all laughs and fun now, and even when he jabbed and I jabbed back, everyone at our table laughed. My business friend is hard of hearing and I made some little comment like He made a similar comment about Anyway, as we finished up dinner and the awards, and were departing, Brian shouts across the room to me, It just goes to show, even though we each despise the political views of the other, we fully respect each other and are happy to do business together.
  20. An interesting question, Linda. Probably 25% or more of my incoming FB newsfeed from friends is politically oriented, and I would guess about 40% of my own posts this time of the season. I can only think of one person who deleted me, and I really did not know her. We met on one of the game apps. I have numerous FB friends of all political persuasions, and mostly we stay out of each others hair and off each others status updates when we heartily disagree and only goodnaturedly jab at each other there. Some of my FB friends I knew in high school or before and some are business contacts. When we see each other face to face, we can talk amicably about politics or work or the weather or fires or whatever. We just (wisely I think) choose not to make a pubic ruckus on a Facebook page. I do control it a little bit by adjusting who gets to see some of my posts. When I am being snarky or sharing a particularly mischievous political post I adjust the setting to "Friends except Acquaintances.". Those who I know are vehemently of the other political persuasion, and most my vague business contacts are in the Acquaintance list. I may find the post humorous, and so will most my real life close friends, but I am not going to change anyone's mind by being snarky in a post on FB, so why tick them off? I post them (and read others) because those who see them find them funny and we share a laugh. All that said, I enjoy the discussions and we often have some stridently oppositional, but respectful, back and forth with each other as I participate on many posts nightly with my other FB friends. The discussions are much more respectful than I previously experienced in the old days here. I like it like that.

    TAKIT Band

Why does nobody ever ask about the band Breakthrough, which released at least one album by the name of "A Thought Away" in 1985 through Higher Ground Music. Their address at the time was in Canoga Park, CA. I have the cassette. I also have the Takit album but it is tucked away at this time and I cannot access it. I believe Socks however.

    Happy Pi Day

I am going to hold out for the real celebration in 2015 3.1415

  24. I do remember seeing that film, maybe at AC72 at HQ? Not sure really. But when you mentioned the furniture from the PFAL filming was returned, I had to laugh. I remember the Branch I ran had finally gotten a video class together around 1974. The problem was all I had was a 15 inch black and white TV. The limb's unit was already in use up in the big city or something. I was told to go buy a TV, use it and then return it. I felt slimy when I took it back. They charged a 20% restock fee, which I took out of the ABS from the class. I don't think God ever was bothered by the loss of the ABS. He likely was none too pleased about the theft from the TV store though. We did get to watch the Superbowl that year in style however.
