  1. Firstly, you are wrong about what Greasespot is for. Nothing in it's design has anything to do with whether one is a "believer" or not. Many of us were never kicked out of the ministry....we just left on our own for a variety of reasons. In my case it was because of the hypocrisy. Secondly, ya know Shiftthis, in your profile you talk of your "interest in outrunning cops"? And yet you look disparagingly at people who don't want to do the "Word". I have known people killed by others recklessly speeding away from cops. Finally, if you insist on posting your hypocritical BS here, learn to use the "Enter" key once in awhile.
  2. hmmm those instructions were written and posted about 2 or 3 changes ago. Do they still work? I find the ignore feature this way: click on your OWN name at the top right corner a list drops down which includes Manage Ignored Users Click on it and you can add or subtract users from that list. I used to use the feature, but gave up. My morbid curiosity always got to me and I had to turn it off to see what dumb stuff they were saying NOW!
  3. and just think.....according to another site, TWI has become kinder and gentler these days. Just think about what that means about the meaner and tougher old TWI. Shell, you know our care is for you and K-girl.
  4. sad sad and gut wrenching. let us know what charges they bring.
  5. soooo...... what exactly has he said with all those posts? :D
  6. He might have been the first in Indiana to adopt an afro-american child, but not likely the first ever.
  7. I dunno Chockful, those are NOT my sentiments, so perhaps you should say SOME of us here at GS. You do not speak for everyone, and of course, neither do I.
  8. I had a CW mortgage on one of my houses, which has of course been switched to BofA. I do have them collecting the Escrow stuff for prop taxes and insurance on that house but have not had that problem as yet. However.... When they finally rolled the CW online access into their BofA online access I found it a bit disconcerting. CW had a great site, with easy to read statements and much more info as to the loan specifics. BofA does not, and their site is cumbersome, slow and poorly laid out. With that rollout of their online access, some things are getting slowed down in processing. I had one payment that cleared my bank 2 weeks before it was posted to the BofA account. They TRIED to add a late charge, but I went up the ladder, AND got a letter from them certifying that the payment was on time. (to protect my credit score if they tried to report it as being late). The back of the check shows they received it 3 days before it was paid by my bank and 10 days before the Late date. I have 2 BA credit cards and I think they were trying to find a reason to raise the interest rates on them. I don't know if this garbage will continue, but so far I am unimpressed with BofA's ability to handle the extra load of accounting they took on with the CW accounts. I did not have one problem with CW for the 3 years they had the mortgage, and fortunately this is the house we hope to sell this spring. I will not be using BA for any more financing but this one was out of my hands.
  9. that is positvely great! Thanks for bringing it David. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have stuff like this happen everywhere now and then? It might make the arts more real to people. I saw another youtube for, I think, Sound of Music in a train station by a troupe awhile ago. These things would be fun to be a part of, and oh the memories to tell!
  10. when pigs fly (in a July snowstorm) Changed????? within the last 6 years, (and that is recent enough for my caring) I have known two people who were asked not to come to twig anymore since their lack of believing was a drag to the fellowship. Seems one of them was unable to believe for healing of a degenerative eye disease in the 25 years or so that he had been slaving away for his local fellowship. Local soup kitchens do more to inspire faith in God and the Lord Jesus Christ than TWI does. I will take Christian action over book learning any day. Especially when the books are based on fabrications, deceit and perjury. thump thump thump doesn't cut it for me anylonger. Is there a new move to come back or something?
  11. The first time I remember hearing this idea was probably in 1973. I can remember Victor saying from a stage (maybe AC73?) that as he looked out over the audience he saw many "who have told me they would be dead now but for the Word I have taught them, it makes me cry out for joy". (or something to that effect). I remember thinking to myself that there must be a bunch of weird people in that group. Thinking back on it years later, I figured he made that up, and was planting a thought in our minds about how wonderful it was that he was around to "save" us with his teachings. Sort of "we owe our very living, breathing souls to him". Yikes, it went downhill from there. I was never one to doubt better times were around the corner, I wasn't about to check out of this life early and didn't understand those who would.

    Relics

I remember him selling some of his pocket knife collection to do his part to raise money for the Auditorium. Those of us who bought them likely considered them religious relics. I think I did anyway. The one I have was duller than a butter knife. So much for the idea of "right cutting" with it.

    Christmas Music

For our Hanukkah celebrants there is "Oy to the World", and "Silent Night (i should be so lucky)" -(courtesy of the Car Talk guys)
  14. I never participated in it, but I always thought it sounded like "Outward Bound", which has been measurably more successful in achieving it's participant's goals.
  15. I wouldn't assume that, but I have no idea who they are. I think it answers how to reach them and probably whether they are still involved with TWI however.

Happy Birthday mister! Treat yourself to a day to dream, a day to grow, and a day to realize just how many people you have touched in your life. May today be a day filled with your favorite tunes. :drink::drink::drink::drink: (All those guys are on a liquid diet too)

    JFK

you're a poopyhead, Rum :B) We lived in VA at the time, and were busy getting ready for a rotation to AK the next month. The talk of it possibly being a communist thing made our move a little more intimidating. All I knew about Alaska was that some part of it was 20 miles from Russia. A few months after we got there, the big Alaska earthquake hit. My first thought as the ground shook and rolled on that army base, was that we were under attack by the guys that shot Kennedy. Thanks Paw for the thread.
  18. We are all antipodes, but for we in the USA, pretty much all of us are antipodal to a place in the ocean, which is why we are unfamiliar with the term. It is used primarily in the Brit isles, to refer to roughly Australia and New Zealand, (and occasionally to South Africa). The places where they sent orphans to be slaves and sex objects, and took diamonds back when THEY were the imperialist warmongers. (JUST poking fun at you Twinkie!!!!) BY the way, the Brits got it wrong, because they are antipodal to a spot in the ocean too., but close counts in empire building as well as grenades I guess. Here, you can find the antipode of anywhere you want. http://www.antipodemap.com/
  19. found on another site: Iris has asked that anyone seeking to contact her do so through headquarters
  20. There ya go George, summing it up in one sentence for us. This has been a good discussion, and can be applied to how we interact with different people. Having said that, a person who fits the description in the very first post, does have some voice here in the blogs, and I have seen them admit they needed other outlets other than JUST what GSC has to offer anyway. That fits in well to George's "not all things to all men".
  21. hey wait.....those are MY drinks, not Dad's
  22. the link does not work
  23. constructive criticism is not trashing, however, trashing IS trashing. both have occurred on this site on occasion. It is not that hard to tell the difference. Can we get back to the constructive criticism now? It has been a very rare time that I have seen a newbie trashed by everyone who responds. Mostly, a few people might get a bit gruff. Others will make suggestions on places to find more info on this marvelous site. Still others will try to "cover the back" of the new adventurer. All have their own reason for doing so. I don't find that so hard to accept. I think it is inaccurate to say that "we (as a whole)" don't give people a chance to move at their own pace. If you come here looking for answers or help, for gawd's sake, take those responses that help, and absorb them. The others.....cast them off. We have no method on this internet forum to judge what your reaction will be to the way we said something. Some folk here are so incensed by the treatment they got and the loss in their lives due to their TWI experience, that it is pretty hard for them to be told they should STFU. Others really don't G-A-Sh@t, and can try to cuddle the inquirer. Which of these are we to tell to "keep their silence"? People come here in all stages of their life journey. They are met by others in all stages. I don't think that can, or should be, changed. I came here not searching for anything other than people I knew. I do not recall learning much that I did not know before from other sources, other than what things were like in the late 90s. I was not angry, bitter, or even defensive about my time in TWI. I didn't really care, and still don't. Be who you want to be, take what will help you, leave what will help others, ignore what doesn't appeal to you..... Most of us are in the last third of life's journey and hope to leave the world a better place. We differ on just what that might look like, and how to achieve it. What else is new? Undoubtedly most, but not all of us, hope at least it will be a place without a controlling cult known as The Way International. Anyone that comes here expecting something other than THAT is in for a surprise. They might like it.....they might not.
