  1. My savior Lives/loves, My God he was/is-Aaron Shust
  2. library is now part of Emporia State University. btw my hometown of Valley Falls is NW of Emporia near Wichita, Leavenworth, and other cities in NW KS on state route 4, just off I-35
  3. Praise somgs/choruses are like the fight song while Worship inspirational songs are more Alma Mater/hymn like.
  4. the problem with Praise music(or part of it) is repetetion of choruses like He is exalted; Great is the Lord; Show me your ways; Lord, I lift your name on high, etc. some of Hillsongs and Casting Crowns do a much better job. If you add old gospel songs, negro spirituals, bi-lingual hispanic/latino, carribean, and native African hymnody, and Jewish Messanic Praise, all for variety then you can have a more exciting worship experience. All lot of this includes singing in tongues together by entire congregation during instrumental only sections(I do mine softly and quietly under my breath). Traditional European hymns such as plainsong, Lutheran Germanic chorales, Scandinavian, Baltic/Slovak, Dutch, French, British, and Taize(which can become monotonous and boring with too much repetition) usually uses pipe organ with infrequent instruments like strings, brass, handbells, recorders/flutes, and timpani on rare special occassions for traditional, liturgical/ritualistic worship for Catholics, Lutherans, Episcopalian/Anglican, and Moravians. Hymns usually describe doctrine of denominations better than theological commentaries.
  5. from the brothel in the red light district in Calgary. Wierwille knew exactly what and where he was. that should have set off spiritual alarm to Leonard right then and there.
  6. BA, hate to throw water but Good Seed did a C&W version of How Great Thou Art, plus I have a blues version from a Lutheran group called Bread for the Journey; Black gospel, and hard rock. btw the direct English version from the Swedish starts of O Mighty God.
  7. Clay, hope you read the entire thread. We do 2 services at Holy Cross Lutheran. Early service is praise style with rock, pop, jazz, Country/Western-Bluegrass, with hispanic and native african thrown in adds variety. the later worship service is more typical European, organ based hymnody and more structured. When doing Contemporary, we use the 3 year revised common lectionary with suggestions from Sundays and Seasons from Augsburg/Fortress, and Prepare from Abingdon/Cokesbury. You may also want to look at my other thread Way Musicians and comparison of styles from secular and CCM artists and styles/genres.
  8. Final post: Back in 1975, I re-wrote some hymn texts to fit into TWI's theology such as Built on the Rock the church shall stand; The church's 1 foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord, we are the new creation by spirit and the word(Bible/Holy Scripture); Spread, o spread God's mighty word, spread the kingdom of our God; just to name a few of them. Sent a copy to Wierwille, received a reply thanking me and that with the next edition of Singing Along The Way that they might be included. Proably after reading it, he most likely threw it in the trash.
  9. maybe He ought to listen to Steven Curtis Chapman's song Dive, teehee
  10. why did I take PFAL? looking to promote harmony with my family, and give me peace in my life, i.e. no more stress. Wonderful ideals, unfortunately TWI didn't really/actually live up to that. Wasted time that should have been focused on college and my major, and possibly destroyed any romance/dating or potential marriage. Too bad I can't rewind my life, would have been happier never hearing about The Way International or Victor Paul Wierwille.
  11. still think Ted sounds like Roy Orbinson(Pretty Lady), remember he was a night club singer/crooner and in another life might have worked in Vegas or Branson.
  12. Alleluia! Christ is risen! The Lord is risen indeed, alleluia! The peace of the risen Christ be with you! And also with you.
  13. Alleluia, Christ is Risen! The Lord is Risen indeed, Alleluia!
  14. Your mileage may vary. Have always been a Christian since my father was a Lutheran pastor and didn't have much choice. Lutheran before TWI, during and afterward.
  15. guys, you aren't supposed to seriously and literally take those emoticons as fact Did I nail the styles down or not? Please discuss if I am right. Socks this includes you.
  16. Ohio State in Columbus would have been a better choice, or Capital University in nearby Berkly(with Trinity Seminary, but maybe they thought it was full of voodoo, lol) or Wittenburg. But since the last 2 are Lutheran, the institutions might have nixed any plans. btw, what was the manifestation emphasis for that Saturday(or was there any)?
  17. meant to add Paul Baloche to Brian's style of singing, and Claudette Royal to Aretha Franklin, Mahalia Jackson, as well to Tom Lepinski to Elvis. So did I match syles and genres correctly or not? I also posted this at ExWay Vision. <_<
  18. Anyone remember the AC in 1979 which had a session open to any foundational/intermediate grad? This was at Ohio University in Athens(or was that Marietta?). This was for 1 night only.
  19. I know we have talked about this before but thought it might be worth chatting . Pressed Down has been compared to the Eagles, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Seals and Croft. Ted to Elvis, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Frank Sinatra. Good Seed to Chicago and 3 Dog Nite. Dean Ellenwood to Herb Albert; Stevie Kay to Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton. Paul Vergilio to Sly and the Family Stone. Brian Bliss to Chris Tomlin. Would Way Productions evolved into styles such as Hillsong, Casting Crowns, Kutlass, Toby Mac, etc. had Wierwille, Martindale, and Rivenbark stayed out of music decisions?
  20. in honor of Easter(gasp!), my favorite top 10(both traditional and contemporary)I will arise-Chris Tomlin; Celebrate Jesus- Gary Sandler; My Redeemer Lives-Ruben Morgan/Hillsong; Redeemer-Nicole Mullen; Hallelujah, Jesus Lives-Ron Kenoly; Jesus Christ is risen today/Christ the Lord is risen today-Easter Hymn/Lyra Davidica; I serve a risen Savior/He Lives!; Up from the grave He rose; The strife is over, the battle is done-Victory; Thine is the glory, risen conquering Son-Judas Macabeus, plus many more.
  21. I thought the Advanced Class was on revelation, discerning of spirits, healing and miracles. Something VPW, LCM, and RR never had a clue about.
