  1. From my friend in honor of Julia Child, a most precious chef!!!
  2. Received from a friend today:
  3. And another story of faith shown at the Olympics by Bill WIlson, a founding member of the Presidential Prayer Team:
  4. In a message dated 8/7/2012 9:40:57 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, ponytail6900@yahoo.com writes: They are giving away a few hundred military working dogs here on Camp Leatherneck. Everything from Labradors (chocolate and black), German Sheppards, and various mixes of breeds. Do you know of anybody that would want one (your parents, KP, etc..)? The military can get them to N.C. but it is on the individual to pick them up there. They are already trained and ...incredibly well behaved and smart. They are not attack dogs but rather, most of them are bomb and drug sniffing dogs. There is no cost and they will be put to sleep if people dont adopt them. Please pass this message on as we are trying desperately to find homes for these HEROES!
  5. Another nice Olympic hero:
  6. From ExCathedra in the "Marriage Equality" discussion Excathedra in the "marriage equality" thread raised the issue of God's love. However, it appeared to be applied as though God's love is a blanket acceptance of behavior regardless of how it is dealt with by the Bible, which I think is an error, but did not want to add that discussion as a sideline to the marriage discussion. So. . . I believe that God's love and grace must defined by the biblical standards in which they are found. I believe that it is love and grace which gives us the strength to do what is right and that following the standards of the Bible are vital to (1) retaining a conscience that can discern right from wrong and not become seared and (2) retaining a connection to the Holy Spirit as an ever present source of help, guidance, direction, etc. etc. etc. (Without that Holy Spirit I certainly am powerless to do anythng.) Is there any place in the Bible that defends acceptance of things that God has specifically condemned (such as sodomy and homosexuality, not honoring your parents, stealing)? I do believe that we should be accepting of other people right where they are at, wherever that is. It is literally true that some of those so very very close to me have been in homosexuality and I never did condemn them and always loved them. And am always so very thankful for speaking in tongues, which goes into those places of a soul's need we cannot even guess at. The phrase which has been so often uttered that it has become meaningless to many is still true for me, "Love the sinner hate the sin." However, someone else's standard does not detemine mine. For example, certain doctrines and theories were posed over in the "Marriage Equality" discussion which I tested by the Bible I know, which is all I have to stand on. Other people, vpee and so many others have proven their feet of clay, but that strength of the Bible, as supported by the Holy Spirit, my Lord Jesus Christ and God Almighty, has kept my head above water all these years and I trust will continue to do so. There are also many many God-fearing Christians, including Catholic religious men and women, who have lived their whole lives in service of the Lord and retained their Godly integrity by continually resisting sin. This is my best opinion as of 7/27/12, 4:11 pm pacific time. And is open to change. I am holding to the Bible for this minute.

    The Olympics!

Received this from one of my favorites, Max Lucado, and thought you also might want to take note of this historical event of the Olympics. Also wanted to have a place for posting other Olympic events or heroes you think are noteworthy. Results you think are noteworthy
  8. Received this in email today and it lifted another vp doctrine of confusion off my shoulders and I thought someone else would like it also ("Are the dead alive now" book only led to confusion and discouragement. I could never understand it. The following is something simple even I could understand.)
  9. I thought others would have some good notes from prior "Lessons in Living" mentality and other places picked up along the way. In addition to the article below, I remember from the "Lessons in Living" class from Grace Bliss that pumpkins seeds counteracted radiation disease. Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds
  10. Insightful article (in my opinion):
  11. Good idea waysider. At the neighborhood halloween party I'll come as the witch of endor with all my twi nametags. Wait a minute - No one would understand. The children would just think I was wierd, and they would be right. I have the name tags, too. Those 20+ years were not a vacuum. I did stuff, learned stuff, learned to love some. Name tags remind me of the beach I got to live near and friends God made dear. So sorry we were sold down the river for vp's "bowl of lentil soup," but Holy Spirit was there for us. Jesus Christ never left us forsaken. Like others have said, the more detached from the cult-wickedness-twi are our memories are the more we can assimilate them in a healthy manner.
  12. Redeemed how I love to proclaim it. Received this in email today and it was such a nice reminder of how we have been set free from the insidious wickedness of even changing the songs, which had been written from the heart with the hand of the Holy Spirit. Here are the original words to "Redeemed," written by Fanny Crosby a blind woman who rejoiced that the first face she would ever see would be that of her precious Lord when she saw Him face to face in heaven.
  13. I currently do not think that it is such a godly thing to cause division. Watching the movie "The KJB" about how the Bible was translated for King James and thinking that if only the Catholics had been included in the translation team what a different Christianity would be today. (KJV is my version of choice) Catholics have always been on the forefront of building schools, hospitals, orphanages, helping the less fortunate improve their quality of life. Divide and conquer has always been a standard method the enemy of our souls uses to destroy people. One wonderful thing about the "pro-life" movement against abortion etc. is that it is a unifying cause for all factions of Christianity.
  14. When long out of twi did I met people who were truly in love and had a taste of what marriage should be (except for the exceptional Jane and Howard of Alameda and Ralph and Joanne of Oakland). Have one ex-twi friend who is still involved in a "marriage" that has hurt both of them for many many years. In my opinion the twisted loyalty mind set and so much [overall c*r*a*p] of twi prevented people from ever forming that deeply rooted bond of affection which I now believe is what should be found in the marriage God has in mind. When Billy Graham came to Sacramento circa 1995 and Ruth was unable to come due to her sickness and he spoke of her and it was like a piece of him just wasn't there he just loved her so. There is stuff of a marriage people with cult thinking just can't experience because of the cult's "first place" in the devotee's heart (including those who haven't severed those ties even though they have "left). I never saw what I now believe is a marriage made in heaven in twi. Amend that: Jane and Howard and Ralph and Joanne just came to mind, but they were married long before twi got a hold of them. That's probably also why they were able to leave in one piece and keep their hold on their abundant life. These precious peole also were the ones who provided a home base to so many because of the foundation of kindness that was in their personal home.
  15. Here is something on forgiveness of God to us from my all time favorite Max Lucado:
  16. "Heaven is for real" was given to me by a new non twi internet friend. What a treasure it was for me to read that. Made so much sense. Thanks for the reminder. I have so many people I have offended during my twi time, and "Heaven is for Real" is one book that might help overcome the wall of separation which my twi time built between me and family and old friends. (saving for Christimas presents)
  17. Thanks Skyrider for the link. Sounds like nice brain food. I signed up for their newsletter. Thanks, again.
  18. So very long ago my then young son said the same thing, and I pooh-poohed him away into obedience and destruction of self (Can God ever forgive me to the extent He can correct my wrong? I don't know but I pray daily for the restoration of his soul.) What Skyrider said at the beginning, and the points so many others have made -- so very perceptive. If only we had seen it then. If only we had been able to avoid the snares laid for us. So many tortured souls, wasted lives. It will be good to see God's justice for these most wicked sins perpetrated upon such precious people. I believe that the Nicolaitanes who God hates committed this very self same act of overcoming people (Nike-victory, laos-people). And that we will get to see a performance of God's perfect justice, I have no doubt.
  19. Here is today's Watchman Nee devotional Before twi's input of semantic confusion in attempt to dismantle our obedience to God's so very simple command, bow down before Him, love and adore Him were simple concepts along the line of and heart and mindset responses in harmony with "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." vp in particular and twi in general needed to cloud and dismantle simple obedience to God Almighty because vp's goal was obedience to himself rather than to God Almighty, in my opinion. In my opinion, teachers and leaders who yearn to see people in close relationhip with the Lord will include this basic concept in their "message," and those people who want to see their covenant with God established in their lives will simply fear Him who is most Awesome Majejsty.
  20. Here is a place I would like to go for a vacation. Good fun. Good fellowship. Ron Gillespie. See you there. Redneck mud park
  21. IMHO (Is my hearing aid on?) When you see His face, however that is, everything does pale in comparison -- the years of troubles do not compare to eternity with Him. You'll see. He does make it all worth while. A wonderful guy, Txx Helxxr, gave us this on "The Way" yahoo group (used to be "One List"). I saved it because it sounded to me he mined and cared for precious gems fromall that Bible stuff, pondered and filtered by Holy Spirit corroboration for all these years. For me this compares to the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" as a reality in that we will get to see the kindness of God our lives brought into the earth, and that playback will last a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGG time, with no shadow of darkness in the playback.
  22. Cobb Salad Los Angeles's Brown Derby closed its doors long ago, but this classic salad, invented in 1937 by the restaurant's owner, Robert H. Cobb, lives on. Found in The Los Angeles Times California Cookbook. FOR THE DRESSING:<br style="font-weight: bold; ">3⁄4 cup canola oil<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1⁄4 cup extra-virgin olive oil<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1⁄4 cup red wine vinegar<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice<br style="font-weight: bold; ">3⁄4 tsp. dry mustard<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1⁄2 tsp. Worcestershire<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1⁄4 tsp. sugar<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1 clove garlic, minced<br style="font-weight: bold; ">Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste<br style="font-weight: bold; "><br style="font-weight: bold; ">FOR THE SALAD:<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1⁄2 head iceberg lettuce, cored and shredded<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1⁄2 head romaine lettuce, chopped<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1⁄2 bunch watercress, some of the stems trimmed, chopped<br style="font-weight: bold; ">2 oz. blue cheese, preferably Roquefort, crumbled<br style="font-weight: bold; ">6 strips cooked bacon, roughly chopped<br style="font-weight: bold; ">3 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and cut into 1⁄2" cubes<br style="font-weight: bold; ">2 medium tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1⁄2" cubes<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1 boneless skinless chicken breast, cooked and cut into 1⁄2" cubes<br style="font-weight: bold; ">1 avocado, peeled, pitted, and cut into 1⁄2" cubes<br style="font-weight: bold; ">Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste<br style="font-weight: bold; ">2 tbsp. minced chives 1. Make the dressing: Combine the canola oil, olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, mustard, Worcestershire, sugar, and garlic in a blender. Purée the ingredients to make a smooth dressing and season with salt and pepper. Set the dressing aside (or refrigerate, covered, for up to 1 week). 2. Make the salad: On a large platter, combine the iceberg and romaine lettuces along with the watercress. Arrange the blue cheese, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, chicken, and avocado on top of the greens in neat rows. To serve, drizzle salad with dressing, season with salt and pepper, and top with chives. Alternatively, toss everything together in a bowl. SERVES 4 – 6
  23. Just saw "War Horse" and thought it a classic for sure. Steven Spielberg, in my opinion, put the same heart he put into "Shindler's List" into "War Horse." The true-hearted hero of this movie, the War Horse, shows the strength and courage for enduring the rigors of war -- going to battle with hope and vision of victory, finding a war bride, enduring death of loved ones, becoming a prisoner of war, losing his true love, and yet fighting on with all his heart and soul and mind and strength and ending defeated. The apparent "victories" of the enemy, however, become insignificant in the overall scope of things because God is there and with Him is always true and enduring victory.I think Steven Spielberg should be proud of this creation, even if it did not win an oscar.
