  1. well, it DOES still cost $$$$$ to get into the stadium... the expression, I think I used was "practically within walking distance." I have, in practice, actually ridden my bicycle to the library which is right next door to the stadium... so, I might ride up there to take in a game... but it still would be more fun with another baseball fan. Did you see the item I have posted (in a pic) on my page on another web site? It's something that came in yesterday's mail to commemorate the first day of spring training games...
  2. Indeed, teams that suck during spring generally suck in the regular season. And... the best way to guage whether we'll be able to make it out to Surprise is for you to make a trip to AZ... then we'll have to! My understanding is that a Mr. D.C. has been planning a trip from Chitown... and would probably like to see a game (or more than one) in Mesa... of course, I'm practically within walking distance from Giants spring home games... and auto fuel has risen about a quarter a gallon in the last two weeks... so, the closer to home, for me, the better. A Giants/Rangers game in Scottsdale would be a good thing. :) But I haven't checked the schedules to plan any specific games to attend yet.
  3. Cactus League schedule, Feb 27 I haven't found any scores yet, however. I guess the reporters need warming up also! Cactus scores and standings Looks like Colorado and Texas won their games today.
  4. Play BALL! First pitch of the 2008 Cactus League season takes play in about 25 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to have one... certainly not that old. I bought mine new in the early 1980s... used it for a little bit of target practice in the desert a couple of times... a had a couple of others, but had to travel light in Aug 1981, so, I sold all the firearms I had at the time... I enjoyed shooting that rifle...
  7. You won't "get it" by anyone sending you a "PM". You either have a sense of empathy, or you don't. Which are you, OM?
  8. I KNOW what that's like... I've been to football games at Sun Devil Stadium... in AUGUST. Even a night game is too hot. If anyone wants the heat, but A/C for the stadium experience watching baseball, there's always Chase Field (formerly known as "The BOB"). 'Cause he's RICH?
  9. Excellent observation.
  10. Dave Dravecky (Dravecky was playing for the SF Giants that season)
  11. Wash n Wear had it right on the mark... You're the sweetest Greasespotter!!!
  12. I'll be p1$$ed if the Dbacks games -- which except for when they'll be on ESPN or FOX (Saturday afternoon) will be on Fox Sports Net AZ, which only rarely broadcast in HD last season -- are NOT in HD this summer.
  13. Actually, that's too IMpractical and certainly, IF implemented, would NOT work. What MIGHT help is to put some serious incentives in place to bring JOBS back to the US... be they tax breaks for hiring, for business capital investment ONLY in the US, or trade tariffs, just SOMETHING that would stem the flow of our jobs to China, India and the Phillipines.
  14. You wouldn't be the first person to write his own obit. Might you not want to include some specific highlights of your journey? Accomplishments or other events that have been meaningful to you or things you'd want people to remember about you? One of the reasons people who do their own obits do so is to specify what they'd like their legacy in this life to be/to have been. I would also hope that you're not planning for this to be published anytime specific time too soon...
  15. Does your sarcasm reflect your willingness to forego said rebate this year? And here I thought it was WALMART where we could get the best deal on extruded plastic in various shapes made in Chinese factories... shows what I knew! btw, anyone see the link on Drudge to news of massive impending unemployment in CHINA?
  16. Yes, we can! Please let us know, Washn'wear, what you're Mom tells you! Thanks. :)
  17. For the Dbacks... 22 hours, 12 minutes! Moving on... to the 2008 BASEBALL (pre)season!
  18. It was visual... maybe he'll have available for viewing on his web site... I'll check.
  19. Letterman had an interesting take on the hearing with Clemens... anyone else see that besides me?
  20. It was in the mid70s today... some clouds, but still calm and still a lovely day... rain and wind and colder expected tomorrow... Dbacks (pitchers/catchers) report in... just about ONE day, 16 hours... Friday NOON!!!
  21. Try again. NO such announcement has been made. NOBODY here has ANY right, moral or otherwise, to DEFAME a young person who wants to enter Christian ministry. NOBODY here has produced ANY documentation that said young person intends to carry on, or carry out the legacy of the founder of TWI. This is NOT about ME or ANY ability (or lack thereof) that I might have to see Ham's point of view. This is about IDLE speculation ONLY because the name of this young person stirs emotions based on what this young person's grandfather did, NOT based on ANYTHING ANYONE has shown to be AT ALL related to what this young person HAS said or done, intentional or otherwise. There should be NO question in ANY reader's mind, if said reader still holds ANY respect for what is in the Bible that what HAM and RHINO and GEORGE ST. GEORGE have posted in this thread. Further, even for those who reject completely ALL of what is in the Bible, it is STILL morally despicable to put forth such idle speculation about the intentions of that young man before that young man has even begun his Christian ministry. And WordWolf, IF you actually read ALL of what is written in this thread, you will easily recognize it as NOTHING but slanderous idle speculation to defame someone who had no choice of which parents to be born to nor did he have any choice in the name he was given at birth. You make ZERO sense. Your ramblings do not even deserve to be addressed on any kind of point by point basis. Prove this claim.
  22. From: Regarding corn gluten The term gluten in reference to the cohesive, elastic protein mass remaining after starch is washed from a dough goes back to Beccari in 1745. Strictly speaking, gluten is found only in wheat because it is difficult to wash a cohesive protein mass even from rye, the closest relative to wheat, let alone from barley or oats or anything else. Unfortunately, a misuse of the term by the corn industry has become common in recent years. It has become fairly common to call corn storage proteins corn gluten. Personally, I think there is no justification for such usage. Corn may contain prolamins, as does wheat, but not gluten.
  23. Okay, you're so smart...(?) name that logical fallacy (the one YOU committed). It IS a logical fallacy and you should be able to name it. And I am NOT talking about your clumsy grammar.
