  1. Speaking of "some devilish rumor mill..." that concept was, as I recall, endemic in the culture of twi in the 1970s and 1980s. Case in point, microwave ovens destroyed all of the nutritional content of food cooked in them. I mean, who's bee-HIND did they pull that stuff out of?
  2. Life is NOT about being perpetually chained to a group because one doesn't want to lose God's "hedge of protection." If you want to stay attached to twi because you genuinely love the lifestyle, more power to you. But if you harbor hidden cognitive dissonance, you CAN break free and won't be in any more danger from the trials of life if you go. This brief discussion of (emotional) antifragility may help. There is light at the end of the tunnel. There are communities where people understand and relate to what you've been through.
  3. We agree there's a difference. I don't agree with the characterization as a distortion.
  4. Both of my parents had cataract surgery in their early 50s. So did I (in MY early 50s, not theirs ;) ) At the time of my cataract surgery, the VA implanted permanent lenses under my corneas. That procedure meant I ONLY needed reading glasses but not distance correction lenses for the following 12 years or so. Now I get updated prescriptions every year.
  5. No, it doesn't... even though colonoscopy prep can feel like roto rooter treatment. https://www.nia.nih.gov/health/prostate-problems Benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH, is very common in older men. It means your prostate is enlarged but not cancerous. Treatments for BPH include: Watchful waiting, also called active surveillance. If your symptoms are not too bad, your doctor may tell you to wait to see if they get worse before starting treatment. Your doctor will tell you how often to return for check-ups. Medications. Medicines can help shrink the prostate or relax muscles near your prostate to ease symptoms. Surgery. If nothing else has worked, your doctor may suggest surgery to help urine flow. Other treatments. Sometimes radio waves, microwaves, or lasers are used to treat urinary problems caused by BPH. These methods use different kinds of heat to reduce extra prostate tissue.
  6. The MEDIUM presents an incomplete message. If it's distorted because a person does it intentionally, that's something else altogether. What you don't get with social media is body language and other nonverbals, like inflection for example. It's always going to be easier to read people face to face than here. That's why my avatar is actually a picture of me.
  7. As if that's Twinky's responsibility? No, If you believe YOU have been unclear, it's YOUR responsibility to clarify your message.
  8. I started taking saw palmetto in my early 40s. Helps for a time. There's a medication, "tamsulosin" with a brand name of Flomax. That's very helpful too. The roto-rooter treatment comes in when meds no longer work.
  9. Exercise. Modification of dietary intake. Anyway, you cogently make the point about aging. I very much relate to what you said and how you said it. I have recently had to get some physical therapy for aging related changes to my leg and back muscles. My prostate has been an irritant for most of the last 25+ years. A nurse practitioner recently told me she considers prostate issues to be essentially male menopause. I went to my local community college fitness and wellness center to work out earlier today, got home about an hour ago.
  10. I can't (and don't) speak for T-Bone but mySELF is here because I am here.
  11. What do you mean by that expression?
  12. TWI is a closed society which has informal government, a totalitarian government of, by, and for the unwritten laws which serve "leadership."
  13. That's WAY too small of a box into which to stuff free speech. Free speech is about uncomfortable artistic human expression. It challenges any and all societal norms and mores. Some of which (norms/mores) push back and survive, some fall by the wayside.
  14. To whom are you addressing this question about concerns with the Bible?
  15. Movie opens before Christmas. Director Sarah Polley talks about it with Stephen Colbert. I figured there might be some women survivors of twi who might find this story resonates.
  16. Isn't that what we all could (and maybe should) do with our twi experience?
  17. Posted on TikTok by @stew904 and on Twitter by @AuntBunny and retweeted by @RexChapman is the wonderfully awkward way productions doing "The renewed mind is the key." Maybe this link will work... if it doesn't, GSC doesn't like an emoji included in the tweet. try this... after twitter dot com insert the following without the quotation marks. "AuntBunny731/status/1597219864867131392" The twitter code doesn't work here, the following is from YouTube... but many of you have seen it on YT. But if you are on twitter or TikTok and want to see the masses making fun of twi...
  18. You pay him no attention, but you make allegations without being able to back up your claims. THAT takes it outside the boundaries of acceptable on GSC. His focus, if you had read Sapiens, is history. And he's hella smarter than me or you.
  19. I'm flattered to be included in the group of folks this wanker criticized. But flattery will get him/her nowhere, really. I also wonder about the dates of the blog posts. Nevertheless, I wish him/her peace.
