  1. Hiway29, Sorry if I sounded whiny to you. I was just thinking few would see the post. sudo
  2. He sounds just like his father which makes this a Nostalgia thing for me. Few will see this post probably but can anyone tell from the singing style who daddy might be?? Click HERE! Pretty cool song, no?? sudo

    Happy Beltane

Nottawayfer, Yeah... but only with clothes on. I don't want the blame for causing anybody eye damage! Hee-hee! sudo
  4. Highway, That's a really good analogy. If things weren't so good at the beginning for everyone who got into TWI, they would have never stuck around would they? I'm sorry about your friend. sudo
  5. Hey guys, Here's a new composition I got today in e-mail. We're down to so few folks that maybe this is almost a private thread now-a-days. and of course this isn't really nostalgia as it is a recent composition. Folks might be surprised at who wrote and conducted it, though. Click HERE!for nothing more than a pretty good march. OK.. I edited the file so it shouldn't be too hard to guess who wrote it. sudo
  6. Kimberly, I live in the Sunny South (the Memphis area) as well but unfortunately many around here will buy those abominations passed off as 'tomatoes" in supermarkets. Thanks for the information. I've heard that placing the degenerate "tomatoes" in a brown paper bag may help but only if they are at all green. But ahh! the pure epicurean delight of a truly sun ripened tomato picked fresh off the vine at its height of ripeness. I'm counting the days until I can get my hands on a true fresh vine ripened Southern tomato. sudo
  7. Groucho, No one's really answered your question. YES! Every dang time I see a picture of Benedict, it reminds me of the Vicster. Poor pope.. he seems to be a decent fellow and can't help that he resembles a known charlatan. sudo
  8. George, Those are some pretty ladies but I'm not that good at picking out who's who. The lady in the middle in the Betty Grable pose is Jill St. John, no? And to the far right in the yellow bikini.. there's a lady showing a famous naval, I believe. sudo

For Tech Heads - The Woz

bfh, I guess one thinks this is really cool history or not. I think its fascinating. My brother and I spent many hours sitting around in a Shakey's pizza joint drinking pitchers of beer and putting quarters into the pong machine. sudo

    Atheists Corner

Seth, There used to be such a corner long time ago. Seems it was called the agnostics corner or some such and was started by a lady who no longer posts here. It was somewhat popular for a while but then faded away. So few unbelievers I presume. Or those who will admit it. sudo
  11. Thomas, Shucks.. We're just having fun here. I really ought to post a link to some other Ray Stevens' songs, huh? sudo
  12. Thomas, Re:"..you aren't from Ole Miss are you?" I don't know about Ham but personally.. in the words of a Marxist philosopher.. I resemble that remark! sudo
  13. Rottiegrrrl, The only thing you can get over the counter that would really help would contain what's been mentioned already.. oil of cloves or what is properly known as eugenol. I'm not familiar with a lot of proprietary names so Dent-temp that Shellon mentioned may contain eugenol, I just don't know. And eugenol works only if you have a cavity in the tooth so that you can actually get some eugenol deep so that it gets in contact with the pulp (nerve) of the tooth. If you have, say, recurrent decay underneath an intact filling you are just out of luck because slobbering any kind of medication all over a tooth isn't going to do diddly squat when the nerve is hurting and you can't get to it. Swishing with salt water isn't going to help either. Recent studies have shown that antibiotics don't help with painful toothache either though they would help with swelling due to bacterial infection of the dental pulp. Narcotics (and maybe whiskey?) help a whole lot though. :( sudo

    Song of the moment

CMAN, I'm running on DSL and I can't tell any difference. That's cool about choosing the menu options. Maybe those with dial up it makes a difference? sudo
  15. Happy birthday Hap! And who knows... maybe we need an eco-nut around the Greasespot! :P sudo
  16. George, How 'bout that.. Your birthday is the first day of Spring! Does that mean you're always sprung? Happy birthday my man!!! sudo
  17. I just got back from a seminar with most of my office staff conducted by the guys in this video. Both of them are dentists and they had us all in stitches we were laughing so hard, so I'm posting it here. Some of it is 'dental-speak' that most won't get ("My crowns are a little high.. little low") but you'll get the idea. And everyone thinks we dentists have it made in the shade!! sudo
  18. Happy Birthday Kathy!!!! Long time no see, girl, but here's thinking of you and wishing you a great day!! sudo
  19. How about the most famous hair twirl in the movies? Click HERE!! She had a not so happy life after this movie because of the way she drove men wild. sudo
  20. George, Ohh.. that was good!! I could recognize about half of them as fast as it was going. Hollywood had some real beauties however, why anyone thought Sophia Loren or Joan Crawford was good looking is beyond me. I'll look around and see something I can post. sudo

    Lunar eclipse tonight

Rhino, These things are so cool but unfortunately we will almost assuredly be under a full cloud cover. The next one isn't until 2010, I understand. sudo
  22. Hi Pirate! Hi George! I've got nothing myself at the moment. Has it really been nearly 7 years, Pirate? That must at least be a record of some kind. Lots of folks have participated here. Lots of years we were really hopping with many folks posting stuff but then folks lost interest. You want to know what I think was a big culprit with people losing interest?? Being able to post YouTube clips. Seven years ago it was a big deal to click on a link in a post and hear music. It took a lot of time to teach posters how to do it. But now, anyone can post a YouTube and you get both music AND video so just linking to a song isn't nearly exciting. That's what I think part of it is anyways. sudo
  23. Cowgirl, Re:"I also believe that the major reason for 99% percent of sicknesses and dieases are a weakened immune system...." I think you just pointed out the real difference between medical science and alternative medicine. The belief system. See, you believe what you just stated and work from that belief.. you strengthen your immune system in ways that you believe will do that. Medical science however accepts something only after its been proved. Its the empirical method. That's not to say that a scientist won't get a bright idea like, say, that bacteria causes diphtheria. But the way the system works is that the scientist has to prove the hypothesis before he comes out and claims such a thing. George gave several examples (the laetrile one was a classic) where the alternative medical folks will jump on something based on gut feel or something. That's not to say there aren't problems in medical science but I see no other way to prove something. sudo
  24. Goey, Here's a couple of links (lots more if you do a Google search, of course) showing 1: That cholesterol components are predictors of mortality HERE! and 2: That statin drugs (for whatever reason) lower mortality HERE! sudo
  25. George, Here's a clip I found of Buddy and Vilma Ebsen singing and dancing with none other than Eleanor Powell. Vilma could dance but she sure wasn't much to look at... especially next to Powell. I think she looked like Buddy, too. Poor thing. sudo
