  1. Ricki Lake as Donna Anthony Perkins as Dr. Don
  2. MJ, it's called cognitive dissonance. I said and did a lot of things I disagreed with. Yes, it was a lie, but I really thought they were right and/or that I was going to have "God's protection removed" from me if I didn't obey. I'm not saying it's right, but I'm saying it's all I knew to do and all I had the guts to do at the time. I know better now and I'm stronger now. It's not as easy as you seem to think.
  3. It's scary to think that anyone who knows about VPW, LCM, the lies, the abuse, the manipulation and horrific treatment not to mention the doctrinal errors in TWI would even consider returning.
  4. My impression is that it is merely a formality and not being advertised and non-TWI people are not being encouraged or told that it is available to order things from the bookstore. It's not dealt with as a big deal and they do not give the reason for opening the bookstore which indicates to me that there are less than honorable intentions behind the move.
  5. When I started going to things they would talk about how we were called a cult and that for people to be attacking us so vehemently we must be doing something right. The adversary didn't want people to learn the truth so he was attacking us through bad publicity and lies and rumors. After hearing that and loving the "truth" I was being taught I simply dismissed anything negative that was said. If someone had insisted that it was a bad group I probably would have gotten very ugly and rude. I'm so glad my family didn't try that because I would have quit talking to them.
  6. Garth and Rascal are correct. TWI teaches that a fetus is not considered a human being until after it takes its first breath. They have not changed their stand on this. If a baby is stillborn it is not considered ever having been a baby or soul life because it never took a breath on its own. Rico M*gn*ll* taught about how the nurse weighs the baby's lungs to determine if the baby was ever alive if it is stillborn. That procedure or something related to it is the same word for I think "nephesh chai" - can't remember the spelling and I can't really remember the teaching all that well, but I remember being impressed by it at the time. :(--> This subject was taught again at the last AC Special. Maybe someone else can pitch in on the details.
  7. I heard on the news this morning that Steak & Shake is filing a lawsuit against Burger King for naming their new burger something with "steak burger" in the name and Steak & Shake says they own the term "steak burger". Burger King says it's a generic description of a hamburger. This will be interesting to watch as it's so similar to the TWIM vs TWI lawsuit.
  8. JT, you are absolutely correct. LCM spent no small amount of time and spittle explaining how the people Paul and the apostles witnessed to in the epistles were at minimum upper middle class folks and that should be our standard. The direction I'm talking about above is TWI III. The new and improved whited sepulchre (sp?) of a ministry.
  9. Oh. Thanks. I was really confused. :)-->
  10. This was actually about 6 years ago and it was Way Corps who told me. The only place to go from there was the Region Coordinator. I've gone to a higher level before about something a WC person did or said and I was the one who got reamed and yelled at. Maybe it wasn't like that when you were in, but WC will protect WC at any cost. There's no point in going higher. It's been proven too many times to count by too many people to mention. The WC does no wrong and if you aren't WC don't even think about pointing it out. Today would I get the same response? I don't know. They pretend to be all "warm and fuzzy" these days, but it's sort of like watching Stepford Wives. They don't really mean it and if someone or something crosses them the claws come out. They still slam other churches and religions, they just smile while they do it and it's sometimes very subtle, but they haven't changed. They talk about people outside of TWI with pity in their voice and concern for their well-being (because they are outside the walls of Zion). They don't openly discourage people from "speaking the word" to lower class people with no teeth, education, cars or money, but it is very clear that they do not want these people in their homes and in their ministry. Things "appear" to have changed, but really the only thing that's changed is how they go about enforcing the unwritten laws of TWI.
  11. Qami/Satori was a covert innie? How did I miss that????
  12. I was told not to invite my Jewish co-worker and friend to fellowship. My HFC went so far as to say in his presence that he was going to hell because he didn't believe Jesus was the son of God. It was also strongly suggested to me that I need not waste my time being friends with him and I sure as hell shouldn't be "fully sharing" with him because we can't trust "empties". Is that good enough for you, OM?
  13. John, :D--> ;)--> :D--> Well said! diazbro, This will be very interesting. TWI is the most non-Christian organization I've ever heard of calling themselves Christian. (Well, technically, TWI doesn't claim to be Christian or religious or a church....so I guess it fits that they shouldn't be doing anything to really help people.)
  14. Some of the first books I was told to buy and read (besides the collaterals and Christians Should be Prosperous) were the 13th Tribe and the Myth of the 6M. That speaks highly to me about the position TWI took on the Jews. I also remember quite a few teachings about not marrying inter-racially. Vickles, what can you remember about the situation you mentioned? Just because VPW put something in writing and said a few things doesn't mean squat, imo. What he did, allowed and didn't allow speaks louder to me than any of his words. Also, my Bible says there is neither Jew nor Gentile, but ALL are of the body of Christ and ALL are of the SAME BLOOD. So, now that I don't have my TWI-goggles on anymore, I'm wondering what's the big deal and why did TWI harp on it so much? Ever notice how people who aren't racist never mention someone's race or religion when they talk about someone? My friend did this and that.... vs. My friend, a black woman, did this.... This Jewish man in the store said.... vs. This man in the store said..... TWI was always pointing out the religion, color or status of people.
  15. Meganpenworthy, those things are selling for BIG BUCKS on Ebay. Check it out. You deserve something for your time in TWI. Take the $$ and run with it. :)-->
  16. That's not quite right, according to TWI legend. Remember Paul said everyone had turned against him? 2 Ti 1:15 This is included in the "remnant" teachings that justify why TWI has shrunk so much. Everyone else has copped out; caved in to the pressure of standing for God; been tricked by the adversary; given up the fight; loved this world more than God.... You get the point. TWI is proud to be small. They only want the faithful, hungry and obedient to God. Their website confirms it. --> --> --> -->
  17. Welcome NPLH and HaR'in! Put your next cup of coffee on my tab. :D--> ;)--> :D-->
  18. johniam and OM, TWI taught you well. You should go back. They need more people like you (remember to bring your money). I support Raf's excellent assessment of the situation and your baseless spin... Have you never heard of "cognitive dissonance"? We were taught in TWI that many things we took as the gospel truth were not. More times than I can remember VPW and LCM totally contradicted what I was taught as a child growing up. I distinctly remember being taught that references to adultry in the Bible referred to idolatry and infidelity to God and "the ministry that taught you the Word". It was very clear that TWI did not consider adultry talked about as being wrong in the Bible. If you are shown things that you never believed before such as: throughly vs. thoroughly, the 4 crucified, 6 denials, 3 days & 3 nights, abortion is okay, etc. It (your duty to service the MOG) becomes just one more thing that you were taught wrong or not taught at all as you were growing up. It doesn't feel right and it doesn't seem to be right, but they've been right about so many other things that didn't seem that way too. You either change your actions or you change your beliefs. When someone you implicitly trust with your life is the one telling you something different from what you believed to be true, then most people are going to go with what that person tells them and not with what they "feel". Remember, too, that TWI teaches feelings don't mean a thing - they're just icing on the cake and to be controlled. Really, you should contact someone on the BOD. They are desperate for people like you to come back to the fold.
  19. Rascal, I wouldn't waste my time responding. I've put Oldies in the "Mike" category....to be ignored
  20. I'm really amazed. Is that Stiles book really that hard to find? Who are these people paying so much money for these books and mags, are they TWI people "protecting" their precious information?
  21. I suppose anyone who tells the truth about TWI is on their list. Anyone who has seriously impacted their wallet would also be on that list. I'm surprised Hope and John aren't on there.
  22. Did TWI win against The Way Christian Ministries? Who else are they suing? How much of our abs is going toward these lawsuits?
