  1. WayferNot! I thought it was "Function" not "Position". Do you mean it's really political? ;)--> I hate it when they throw that "there's nothing better out there" line at me. I want to ask when the last time was they actually looked to see what was out there. Have they looked or are they just taking someone's word for it? The honest thing would be for them to just put Craig back in charge and tell people what they already say in one-on-one situations: "Craig may have been 'off the word' in a few areas, but look at how much 'new light' and 'great research' he taught us. David was forgiven. Paul was forgiven. We should forgive Craig and let him keep on telling us what to do and how to do things." That would be the honest thing. I didn't know that the teaching started with him, but I do know I've heard it a million times and if I never hear it again, it will be too soon.
  2. I hate door to door and they still make us do that, btw. As a result of my distaste for it and remembering others are forced to do the same thing, when someone comes to my door I'm very polite, but I don't invite them in the house.
  3. If you have acquired the requisite permission to have a child, please make sure conception happens at such a time as to be certain that the child will not be born during the months TWI runs classes. Please ask your doctor about a scheduled c-section if the birth is going to interfere with any ministry function.
  4. Very good, Refiner! Thanks for sharing and please do keep writing.
  5. The WC are the only ones who know until the last minute. They don't want the devil to get an upper hand on any moving plans or which schools to beef up the attacks in. If your WC is staying put you will know about that though.
  6. I think the people are looking with rose colored glasses and don't we tend to gloss over the bad times sometimes? Those people would probably not stay very long after coming back because they would see the hipocracy and realize that TWI isn't what they thought it was.
  7. Resurrection Sunday instead of Easter "Why do they call it Good Friday since they teach that he died on Friday?" If I never hear this question again it will be too soon. "empties floating by" spoken of those people not born again.
  8. I'd trade those Singing Air Bags in tent dresses for country music any day of the week. I also hated Father Abraham. There is one song with the lyrics: "We're not gonna drag those who kick and scream." Our BC played that dang song at every fellowship for months pointing out that verse. I think he was trying to run people off.
  9. Herein lies the problem. Just because TWI teaches that abortion is not murder does not mean they have the right to require it - no matter how subtly or overtly - of anyone. Just because someone signs up for WOW, WC or anything else does not mean they have the big picture or fully know what they are getting themselves into. To assume that makes an @$$....well you know the saying. Just because other people left or made a different decision when placed in the same situation does not invalidate either decision. Just because someone thinks they have all the answers does not make those answers correct. I agree with whoever said better to keep your mouth shut....than remove all doubt.
  10. Dance recital Band concert Super Bowl party New Year's Eve party Graduation party "Game Night" (pretty lame at that) Neighborhood block party Apartment complex pool party You name it - TWI can turn it into a witnessing event and completely ruin the fun. They still do these things. They are going back to "coffee houses" with skits and singing and such, but they are so lame and frequently there's no one there but the faithful followers with their Stepford faces on pretending to have a great time.
  11. Explain the costs associated with running the classes. In your deposition in the P@@l@r lawsuit you said the $100 fee was just to break even. How much does it cost to put on each class and what costs does each $100 offset? You said TWI is a research organization with a research facility. Who does the research? How many people are in your research department? How are salaries determined? Are employees required to live in the dorms on campus? What if an employee wanted to buy a house? Would they be able to be an employee and have a mortgage? Finance a car? When did you quit requiring employees to live on campus if you have changed your policy? What is the average salary of a director level employee? What is the average salary of a regular employee? What and when was the latest research book published by TWI that was not a revised edition of a previously published book? Give several examples of US State Coordinators who have not completed the WC training program. Give several examples of US State and Region Coordinators who have not completed the Foundational, Intermediate and Advanced Class series. Do you have people attending classes or fellowships who do not give money? How many? How long could a person attend without giving money to TWI? Give several examples of people in the US who have attended for years without giving money to TWI (not children). You do have the "Blue Forms" to check for that, don't you? Who lives in the Corps Chalet? Who maintains the property? How are they paid? What bank account does their pay come from? How much are they paid? How is it decided who lives in the Corps Chalet? Did you provide copies of the lawsuits to your followers? Who is permitted to order books from your bookstore? What is the criteria? How long do you keep records on your followers and former followers? What kind of records do you keep on them?
  12. They don't do anything without an ulterior motive. People in TWI don't know how to just have fun or get together just for the sake of getting together. Everything is a recruitment exercise. I recently attended a graduation party. Should be just a party to celebrate the graduate, right? Nope. Not at all. Any non-TWI people were cornered and pestered by TWI people trying to get them to sign up for the class. It seems they will do and say just about anything to get people to come back. What do you want to hear? The local leadership will say it, they just won't put it in writing for you. Those who have been involved before are the best targets to them because they've already been beaten down somewhat and are more likely to just follow without asking too many questions.
  13. "stubborn" and "rebellious" and we all know that: 1 Sam 15:23 I'm still called these things, but not to my face anymore. I've just "heard things".
  14. Goey, I don't know anything about the secret deal with the IRS and Scientology, but I don't think TWI has nearly the clout, pull or money to be anywhere near as intimidating or influential as Scientology. I don't think that it will be easy for TWI to get any new people no matter what changes they make. They target middle and upper-middle class white folks. These are the primary users of the computer and they will check TWI out online and find out more than they need to know about why to stay away. TWI will not even get a chance to rebutt unless someone just wants to play with them. The older crowds are pretty set in their ways and the younger crowds are pretty independent and wary of groups considered bad. But, then again, the cult list keeps growing and more and more people are coming out of cults - so someone's falling for the hooey we did. Still, I don't think TWI has any charisma or atmosphere left to attract dung beetles much less people with money. They already mention abundant sharing in 75% of their teachings and witnessing in about 85% (yes, they overlap). My vote is on them selling off more property to maintain the royal lifestyles they are used to.
  15. Very good observations, Kevlar. It's kind of like the elephants that are trained from birth that they can't go anywhere with that big chain around their leg. Then when they're older they don't even try to get away when there is a piece of string tied around their leg. They know it's useless to try. This is how the people in TWI are today. The controls are still in place and it's exactly as the people in control want it to be. It's not broken. Just ask RFR and DM.
  16. Just remember that they add to their notes that you called to ask. ;)-->
  17. AMEN, OAK! (((Abigail))), thank you for sharing your heart and life with us. Steve!, TheEvan, Tom Strange, Rascal: RIGHT ON!! Well Said!
  18. We just need someone who is M&A to try to order something from the bookstore and ask for the response in writing. I'm still in so I can't help.
  19. AMEN Some really good comments on this thread. The biggest fear I learned in TWI and had held over my head was Job's "That which I have greatly feared has come upon me." Right after I took the class I had noticed that the company I worked for was in financial trouble and things weren't getting much better. I knew I would have to start looking for a job in the near future. I started cleaning out my office bringing a little stuff home each day. I started working on my resume and checking the want ads. I mentioned it to my HFC and he freaked out. He said I was so afraid it was going to happen that it WAS going to happen. I told him it WAS going to happen regardless of what I believed. When it happened he gave me his best "I told you so." I was merely acting on the obvious - WTF!! BUT I eventually convinced myself that the whole bloody company went under financially and tons of people lost their jobs because of MY unbelief. -->
  20. leadership "standing in the gap" for us. We should be so thankful because we're not worthy. (said in best Wayne and Garth imitation)
  21. I think I remember having to sit through a tape of at least an hour or so of him talking about his family, his heritage and the coat of arms he designed/altered to be "more accurate". Maybe it's CRS creeping up on me, but I swear I know more about the man's "heritage" than I do of my own.
  22. Mercedes, That about sums it up. What's left to miss? All my friends are M&A; the teachings are SSDD; the rules are the same b.s.; the good leaders are all gone. There's nothing left to miss about it when I leave.
