    After Facing Cancer

I am also really glad to hear that good news, Tommy.
  2. I am aware of one person I knew very very well who has never left, but has remained. As long as she knew where to go for meetings, she's attended more or less faithfully but not nearly with the same vigor she used to have. Many years ago this person tracked me down and asked me all about the lawsuit and a few other things and I explained to her in detail what I knew. I know more now than I did then because of these web sites. She went back. Even after knowing what was going on. I can't explain that. In the recent past, we reconnected again and this time she invited me to go back with her telling me it was nothing like the "old days". What happened? I don't know! I am sure, though, that I don't want any more of that business. I guess she forgot that conversation we had!
  3. I do like the way you think Skyrider.
  4. I'm so thankful that I'm free. I don't have to walk between the lines, so to speak. I don't have to eat frozen fruit for breakfast on a bleak cold February morning. I can wear a cross if I want to. (gasp!) I can go shopping alone. My Wednesday evenings are my own. I know you've figured out where I'm going with this. Happy New Year. Happy New Year Mr. Linder.
  5. I threw everything out thoughtlessly. I wish I had paid more attention to what I was heaving on the garbage pile because there were some really good things in there. I've actually replaced some of those items. It is a personal thing, however so of course ymmv. I'm going to download and print or keep on a cd some of those important articles such as : the one from John Judes site on "Believing" and quite a few others. From here there is one that Raf did, I believe, on PFAL and also, I believe he did one on the errors in the Blue Book. We're presently having a discussion here and the topic of "believing" came up. I couldn't remember all the nuances so I had to go back to the site and get it. If there is a discussion with someone else, face to face and I'm trying to have them understand why the "Law of Believing" is NOT the way to follow, I want to know that I have all of those things at the ready. I want to have access to those things for those who are newly out and are looking for ways to shake loose from twi thinking. Twinky if you need the space, you need the space. Can you go through some of it to keep out the important documents. The individual threads may not be that important now, but some of the other things might be necessary. For me, I know that I want to be around to warn anybody who's thinking about them, and to help however I can those that want to get out. Having accurate copies of some of this stuff is important to me for that reason. But that's me. You have a totally different life in another place so there's no need to do what I do
  6. Nero I'm sorry about your mother getting sucked back in. I've had a number of people tell me the same thing i.e. it is a quieter gentler organization. A number of my close com padres left but all they did was slide into a splinter group so they weren't really "out". They kept bugging me, but they got nowhere. I've been out almost 12 years so perhaps I was less vulnerable having straightened out some of my mind by that time.

    Rearragngemerents

I sorta get the gist of what you're saying....but I will have to take your word for it.
  8. Waysider, your post reminded me of the book....."Who Stole My Cheese"?"
  9. I guess I wasn't clear enough. I never intended that any of the organization's goals and practices were transplanted into the world. WordWolf, you get the prize for analogy and simile. Your Nazi and Anne Frank is astounding!
  10. WordWolf is right.....and yet - - Here we are...scattered abroad. And we impact culture a little bit at a time as we move along and live our lives. Who else in my school building had their teacher pray for them before a big exam??? And....each of us in our own right did something similar. That wasn't what vp had in mind. But that, nevertheless did and still does have impact in the culture in which we live It's there....just not the way we were taught it should be there. Do you understand my thoughts or should I rephrase them? Do you agree at all or not. Be frank and let me know what you think because I really want to know.
  11. Right you are excathy! I wasn't there in the thick of it, but I've heard that there was a discussion at hq between vhs and beta.....which one to go with....and they - - those that supposedly knew about the machines.....that beta max was a better product (I'm talking about the machine itself, not the tape going in or out) and so that was the machine twi selected. Then....the "adversary" chose to promote vhs to leave them (twi) high and dry! And eventually even twi had to go that way - vhs - - . That may be true or it may not be....it is simply what yours' truly was told. As far as "word in culture"....one will have that to the degree that individuals in the culture - authors - musicians - artists - etc.... themselves, have it in them and hold it in high regard.
  12. Even though it was necessary to get all the info out about the plagiarism, and the rocking motion in the coach (and other places) and the other negative and evil things that have come out on these and other boards, I frequently felt a bit embarrassed about it, since I knew his kids would be reading it, and who wants to read that kind of junk about your parents?.

    Computer Virus

I was thinking about this as I was performing some serious maintenance yesterday....and my evil twin (:D) thought - Good for you, then! You don't wanna learn the simple basic keep away from attachments that are questionable! OK. I'm gonna get you every time - - only this time I'm gonna take some cash to bail your a$$e$ out!
  14. Thanks everyone. This has been one of those threads where as I read it and thought about what was written, parts of my understanding were pushed into place such that I have a much fuller understanding of sanctification; what it is, and what it isn't. I remember some one taught me in my early days that sanctification meant that I could stand before God without any sense of sin, guilt or unrighteousness. Of course that means I have to be doing my job too. I'm not trying to return to twi thoughts and contrivances - - but those words in light of this thread help put it together for me. This falls right in line with what my mother would tell me when I was out of line....You're 9 years old (or whatever age I was at the tine) now act like it! I'm sure I had the only parent in the world who spoke those words (not)
  15. With what I know about vp's penchant for plagiarism, I wouldn't be so sure he wrote it.
  16. You're absolutely right. I did misunderstand and I'm sorry.
  17. Anything that allows your thoughts to be muddled would cause you to NOT be sober. I think it's just like with driving. You're drunk with wine or impaired with drugs. If that's how your mind is....you're not sober and somebody else is gonna grab your kids.
  18. I don't really doubt that he studied there. The point is, how long....and what degree did he receive? Obviously he never received any degree otherwise it would have been on a wall behind some glass in his office or coach. As a matter of fact, I studied there myself! Yes I did! I spent 2 weeks during a summer studying hand bells for my former church. But I did study there!! Same with him - - who knows what or for how long. Means nothing.!!!
  19. I like that line too, Steve. It just never stops!! ha ha
  20. I like the way skyrider thinks. Who agrees with me?
  21. Attention Zbrick: I can't speak for Skyrider, but I think I am a regular, and I'm going to tell you that you've missed the point. We skwak about twi on this site as a warning for anybody who hears about it AND as a light in the belfry to anybody still in it....that it's safe to get out. We're not bitter over a bad divorce. We are more like watchmen who've found a big pot-hole in the road. We are waving a bright light at night so the traveller doesn't damage his tires (like we did) falling into it. Zbrick - you don't know very much about this site if all you see is people speaking out against twi. There are many forums here. Those forums is us, "playing" with one another about food, regular stuff, musical games, discussing doctrine (non twi stuff). Open your eyes and take a look around.
  22. I've used them once in a while. I liked the fact that it focused my mind on something godly in the morning. It was short and sweet, but I would reflect back on it sometimes during the day. I think the reason, or one of them, that they hated them was that they distracted you from the real thing (ha ha ha) they were pushing that month, like the blue book, or the SNS or whatever. They were the only ones allowed to control your thoughts doncha know.
  23. A teacher with a gift ministry of Teaching, would be teaching, expounding etc the truth. Maybe we cannot determine it's veracity at the moment, but at some time it will be shown to be true. I believe that such a teacher would also know what his students need taught and would address those needs. A "gift ministry" Teacher would not be plagiarizing .
