  1. Phewww... good... glad to hear that's all straightened out. Didn't realize that Mr. Diamond had written that tune for the Monkeys. Did he ever record it himself?
  2. Um... I was asking about that Beatles post you posted. There seemed to be two songs going on at the same time... bits of one and bits of the other... One was the Beatle song and the other was the Monkeys... Now I'm a Believer.... I thought it was done like this to show the similarities between the two. That's what I was talking about.
  3. Haven't seen any of her here... so I thought it was time... I heard she sang the National Anthem at the hockey game last night... only right.. Ottawa girl rooting for her home team. poignant lyrics... alanis... you gotta' love her for this! Here's last night's game...

    Guitar Talk

Hee hee.. NO WAYSIDER.. set your soul at rest.. I didn't go to the game.. I just heard from another spotter that she sang... SO, I'm stuck in town too... Ottawa is about 4 hrs away from me. Mr. Music Man, The price I quoted was for the Larivée guitar.. 1900 $. I thought that was what you were asking me about. I have NO idea what that Don Ross guitar costs. The Larivée guitar is mass produced you could say.. I don't actually know too much about them except that they used to be produced in Québec, but now are made in CA but all the wood still comes from Canada. And talk about confused... I thought I had posted the Alanis songs on the MUSIC THREAD, not the Guitar Thread. Sheesh... sorry guys and gals. :B) I realize Alanis doesn't have much to do with your guitar talk here... i'm moving it!
  5. Mini-corpse, Sheeshh....what a painful story. I read every word of it and my heart just broke. What a travesty. I'm soooo glad you are in a good place in your life. You're in school and you've sought professional help. Man, I hope someday your parents see what they have done to their own family (because of the insanity they've been taught and not so much that they willfully wanted to harm you or your brother) and leave that S**Thole ministry. You seemed to have had a disdain for TWI from the get go and held onto to that. That was the healthy part I believe, yet of course, TWI deemed it OFF and a form of possession. What was black was white and white was black to them in soooo many instances. I have a niece who's been pretty much IN all her life and still is in. Both her and her husband were MINI corpse as well. If they were to read this story, it might open their eyes and minds to some reality.. (but honestly I think that has to come from within). thanks for being here.
  6. Socks, Interesting??? was this dubed??? was this to show how close in melody these two songs were??? was it to show that perhaps one was pirated??? interesting.
  7. Mstar, I've heard Ry Cooder before but not much. That was lovely to wake up to! Thanks

    Guitar Talk

Mr. Music Man, The Larrivée I played was about 1900 $ if I remember correctly. The Martins and Guilds were much more than this. What a tone it had. A rich, deep tone. The other guitars all sounded tinny in comparison. Also, that Marc Beneteau guitar you posted, the one that looks soooooooooooooo wrong... had a sound like no other. Don Ross explained the principal behind it but I can't remember how it works. Maybe PB does or maybe it's explained on the site. And yes, I can vouch for PB... he was drooling the whole night! He and my husband were just awe struck... there eyes pretty much bulging outta' their heads! I think if they had had a chance to just 'touch' the thing, their lives would have been fulfilled that night!

    Guitar Talk

Haven't been in these parts for a long while. I was at that Don Ross concert PB speaks of. The luthier that Don Ross has make his guitars is Marc Beneteau. Here is his website. He has Don Ross' guitar on the website with the sideways frets...check it out! Marc Beneteau Guitars In his bio... this Marc Beneteau speaks of meeting guitar builder Jean Larrivée in 1974 which caused his career change from musician to guitar builder. I recently played a Larrivée guitar in a nearby guitar shop... I just didn't want to stop playing.. I was in heaven! That same day I played Martins, Guilds, Gibsons from all price ranges. The Larrivée was a better guitar. There was NO comparison!
  11. Bramble, Wow... he was probably kicked out on his keester for that one!!!
  12. MStar... wow... wow...wow.... Reminds of Don Ross somewhat and Pat Metheny... all mixed up into one. Is this Michael Hedge now deceased? What happened? Thanks for sharing this, I've enjoyed it! Dooj, I hadn't seen that one.. a Dylan tune.. how sweet! I love it!
  13. Mr. Music Man, Unfortunately no... this is a cover... it was the only I could find doing that song... but NO... it doesn't do the song justice. sigh... thank you for looking, very thoughtful of you to do so. :)
  14. T-Bone... what a GREAT pic! I love it! thank you so much for thinking of me.. PB... didn't recognize that singer or the song..but it was thoughtful of you to post a french song. I was actually looking for some HARMONIUM to post.. but wasn't able to find the one I wanted ... called POUR UN INSTANT...what a great song!

Chatty... yes anniversaire is used for both... anniversaire is birthday and anniversaire de marriage is wedding anniversary...but you can also use 'Bonne Fête' for birthday. thank you everyone. Dougie, I'm in tears here with that tune.
  20. This is way way too funny bringing up David Garibaldi's name... Hubby played in the Way Orch for years. And he has said many times, that the ONLY thing worthwhile during that whole experience was playing with Garibaldi. He was a consummate musician. Impeccable workmanship!!!!True story.... in 1987... my husband was working a summer job painting houses. All day the radio would be playing on this small portable radio a co-worker would bring along. That summer Gino Vannelli (home boy from Montreal) comes out with this big hit called "WILD HORSES". My husband comes home and says... Honey, there's a new tune on the radio and I'll bet you a million dollars... Garibaldi is playing on that song. He was right! I couldn't believe he could pick out one drummer from another (what did I know ). But he said, NO ONE plays like him!!! here it is... check out the drummer :
  21. Coolchef, they are called the King Singers - they do contemporary as well as classical. They did a whole album once of just Beatles's tunes. Dooj, Your body is a wonderland... every woman's dream!
  22. Sat, His name was Danny Hoeffer. I know for a fact that they went into the family corps as a couple (she was in the 10th corps) but they left.
  23. one of my favourite Mayer tunes:
