Name that Star Trek Episode

Recommended Posts

Well, DS9, obviously. The last soliloquy (by Quark, no doubt) is familiar, but I'm still not placing it.

George

That's a shame-it was one of Armin Shimmerman's favourite scenes.

"I'm sorry captain, but I'm an engineer, not a magician."

""They're not just names, we have to remember that. We have to remember that..."

"Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nog. They're a wonderful, friendly people — as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts ... deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers ... put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time ... and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people will become as nasty and violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces, look at their eyes..."

""We held."

"Those were our orders, sir."

""The communications relay, it was worth it, right?"

"I hope to God it was."

"..that's why the laaady is a scamp...."

The last quote was James Darren as "Vic Fontaine." That narrows it down some. It also had to be before the big break in the Dominion war (from the other quotes). It's not the one where Nog is recuperating from his leg surgery. I think it was the one where Sisko and crew take over a remote outpost.

Vic Fontaine never flubs his songs. That was Rom auditioning FOR Vic Fontaine.

George

Right.

"The Siege of AR-558."

("Platoon" in space.)

That's the one where Nog GETS the leg injury.

Aron Eisenberg thought his character was going to die in this one.

Your turn, George!

This might be a little tough, but I enjoyed the episode.

"Time travel. From my first day on the job as captain I promised myself I'd never let myself get caught up in one of these God-forsaken paradoxes. The future's the past, the past is the future. It all gives me a headache."

Presuming pawnbroker was right, and it's his turn...

Ooo. Good one.

It's "Space Seed."

Khan is being gulaged on Ceti Alpha Five with his crew and NO technology.

His reply as to how he felt was this line.

Kirk understood, and Khan was sent down.

The meaning was a quote from John Milton's "Paradise Lost."

The devil claiming he preferred to reign in hell than to serve in heaven.

Khan was now on a slab of rock, but now he ruled it as HIS slab of rock.

I loved the way Montalban delivered some of his lines, they were just

so...fun...

And Pawnbroker WAS correct. There was a lot of time travel in Voyager. This was a two-parter featuring Ed Begley, Jr. as a businessman who made a fortune on future technology that fell in his lap. Interestingly, Voyager at this time was orbiting Earth in the 1990's. All they had to do was "slingshot" around the sun, and they could have been home!

Ok,

in lieu of a confirmation from pawnbroker, I checked.

I was right, it was "Space Seed."

So, here's one I'm not fond of, but supposedly a lot of fans liked it...

"Remember, put away your shoes."

This one had an interesting cameo appearance by someone, in a role in this episode.

(AFAIK, it was their only appearance in any ST in any format.)

Gene Roddenberry had a voice cameo as the cook in the original series episode "Charlie X." I don't recognize this quote, though, so it could be another episode (or show altogether). Maybe it was when Kirk gives Charlie a judo lesson?

...it could be another episode (or show altogether)....

Well, this part was correct.

This seemingly petty quote will make a little sense once you know the episode.

I didn't just pick an obscure line. Somewhere, there's an obsessed fan who could have

id'ed it just from this first quote.

"The Inner Light"

Next Generation

Picard lives an entire other life while in a coma as 'Kamin'

this episode is haunting, especially since Picard remembers it all when he recovers, and has that flute as a reminder

there were times that NG went above and beyond, and for me, this is one of those episodes

It was right.

A number of fans really like it.

(Me, it didn't strike as "Star Trek"...)

Picard lives the lifetime of another man in 20 minutes.

His "wife" kept telling him to put away his shoes,

and I quoted her last words.

It was a subtle reminder he was walking in another man's shoes.

Patrick Stewart played Picard and Kamin in this episode.

Daniel Stewart played Kamin's son (Batai) in this episode, which is pretty appropriate.

I liked more the rare moments in other episodes that reflected this one,

like when he told this story to someone,

or when we saw him playing the Ressikan flute by himself.

(A very-happy fan bought that flute at auction for $48,000.)

So,

it's hiway29's turn!

"Of course...a child could do it !"

Nice quote, if I'm remembering right.

(And still nice if I'm not...)

Mc Coy, with a super-enhanced mindboost, preparing to return Spock's

grey matter to his noggin.

What WAS that episode's name?

"They Saved Spock's Brain?"

I think it was simply "SPOCK'S BRAIN."

(But the other title would have been funnier.)

Am I at least right on the episode, if not the exact title?

Uh, oh, I need a new episode!

Let's see....

"I don't know what to do. I don't know what to say."

"You're doing fine with me."

"You're different."

"No, you're different."

"But I'm not trying now."

"That's my point."

"Oh, good lord, didn't anybody here build ships in bottles when they were boys?"

"I did not play with toys."

"I was never a boy."

I love that second quote, myself..... :biglaugh:

Reminds me of "Booby Trap," the NG episode where Geordi generates a holographic Dr. Brahms to help him figure out how to get the Enterprise out of a trap.

George

Correct.

Geordi gets dating advice from Guinan.

And Picard's bugged that the others don't share his love of ship models.

But Worf didn't play with toys as a boy,

and Data was never a boy.

:eusa_clap:

Go, George!

ha-great quote

"The Way to Eden"-space hippies on a quest for the paradise planet where they can groove to their heart's content

'Herbert' being a deragatory term for straight laced, rigid, estblishment types.

Kirk was 'Herbert' Spock was not.

This was a really stupid 3rd season episode, that is so much fun that I tend to cut it some slack.

The original story was intended to be called 'Joanna'-, dealing with Dr McCoy and his estranged daughter.

The 3rd season producers balked, saying that Kirk and McCoy should be presented as similar in age, so McCoy could not have a daughter that old.
