Well Linda dear I see you haven't slipped by....

that Kit is a slick one, she knows EVEN tho you might TRY to pretend you aren't having a birthday......

BUT even tho you are older, its OK.

You have SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR.

A celebrated birthday OUT of twi-God is Good.

and think of how many years you have LEFT to say you are out, you can think on your own, you can live YOUR life as YOU want to.

besides 30 isn't so bad

so lets belly up to the bar, I'm buying.

Enjoy your day girl.

Suz

Have a happy birthday, lady! And may your even headed and well balanced approach to life be a shining example to all here, and be rewarded in the Kingdom to come.

Happy Birthday to a person who knows what, where and how to say something. I'm glad you've stuck around to be one of the sane voices around here. I know we're at odds sometims, but I have a heckuva lot of respect for your opinions and the way you state them and would miss you if you were gone.

Thanks for the GREAT photo, Jesse. You know I'm partial to those little terrier "muttski" dogs.

Oh, and Ginger, a belated thanks for the recipe. Perhaps I'll try it!

Wish I could follow that old custom of giving gifts to you all on my b'day...kinda hard to shove cookies through the modem! So I'll just say thanks to everyone for making GS such an interesting and sometimes rousing hangout, and a place where I know I can come for prayers and mutual affection and learning.

You're all wondermous!

Love,

Linda

It seemed like just another day at the GreaseSpot Café

Until the doors flung open and the place began to sway!

Then quickly Dorothy Owens pounded on her piano . . .

Her good eye winking wildly, singing in her soprano

To Linda Z a birthday song ? of this I am not lying.

The din began to settle as the crowd burst into singing

Plotinus played his zither as LarryP began to laugh

At My3cents and Mandii, both rooting through Litwin?s stash.

ChuckR fell through the swinging doors, dropping his homemade bong.

Jesse Joe arrived with Fido, who began to howl along.

Yeck came round the corner waving his arms right and left

Because the birthday girl was coming and Lord knows she isn?t deaf!

Kit Sober grabbed the microphone from Pawtucket?s outstretched hand

To announce the present would arrive in Groovey?s VW van.

The peace mobile had just pulled up, idling right outside.

?Come hither girl and 'cept our gift,? good George and Suzie cried.

?Yes, yes!? the crowd at GreaseSpot called, which swept away her pride.

Linda Z was smiling, tears spilling from her eyes.

Her crowd of friends with birthday wishes parted for her passing

And walk she did, her head held high, her tresses loose and streaming.

But wait, what ho? It cannot be! A man in business attire?!

What brought him here today, she thought, with whom did he conspire?

Was this that famous raconteur, the man whose every word did glisten?

To hear himself; believe himself, and nary stop to listen?

He walked, or rather swaggered, his charisma all aglow . . .

And Linda Z began to blush as the sweat began to flow.

Ginger Tea whisked up her special brew, a tonic to calm her

For Linda Z cried hysterically as his form came closer.

No frowns upon her face did show, for it was Aaron Brown! But no!

Only satori, incognito.

Linda Z let out a gasp when she saw it was satori

Bedecked in Brown?s frameless lenses, arriving in all his glory.

Satori smiled that smile of his and nodded at the bus,

?Your present?s inside that peace mobile. It?s yours from all of us.?

With halting steps she made her move, slid open the VW?s door

And bravely stepped onto that bus, inside its dark interior.

From deep inside the bus there glowed, already framed, a myriad

of Shin Hanga prints galore, some from the Edo period.

Now Linda Z cried peacefully, her birthday wish fulfilled

For all her friends were gathered near, and that was all she willed.

Now that our lame tale has been told, we hope you did enjoy it.

Happy Birthday from our hearts to yours, from Laleo and Ryebred.

Dear Linda,

On a follow-through of thank you's

Your kindness was a protection for so many

(my family especially I saw)

You helped Holy Spirit stay around that place.

And that, to my mind, is what a front-line soldier is all about.

You took the heat of fire of hypocricy and legalism and passed down the kindness of Christ.

Thank you, again, so very much.

We wouldn't be where we are today in God's heart without the kindness you showed.

May all your cake and ice cream be filled with good wishes and love (and no calories).

Sincerely,

Nice thread....even a month later!

I hope you get these good wishes...when once I ventured into the Cafe to post a b-day wish for the musical-toed Sockmeister, the cybergods zotzed it...sheesh.

Kit, I want you to know that what you said in your greeting was one of the nicest things anyone's ever said to me. To you and excath I say, I believe it takes love to recognize love...the real stuff, anyway!

Matilda, glad you could stop by for some cake, zeester!

And Rev. Mommy Ex, what can I say to you but that I love you, too. And I'm so glad you're back!
