Jewel,

Are all the lines from the same song?

George

P.S. Sometimes I hit the tab key and it posts before I want to. If you want to remove a post, click the little eraser icon to edit the post. There will be a clickable text for deleting. If you hit it, it will ask you if you really want to delete. Click yes (or Post Now, I forget what shows up). Note that you can't indent by tabbing in these posts. Your best bet is to start a new paragraph by skipping a line.

Thanks George, I did delete one post, my son showed my how. These are two different songs. The first is one that my 18 years old son gave me and I thought it may be too hard because I really didn't know the song myself.

The next song is one that was popular and I think someone will get it.

The second one was popular enough-I was listening to it on

the radio approximately 24 hours ago....

Apparently, there's been some covers of this song

(Michael Hutchence of INXS in "Barb Wire"????)

and some disagreement over some of the lyrics

(like the muttered side-comments)

and whether it's "take that pearl" or "dig that girl"

or something else.

But everyone seems to agree that this song isn't called

"Hall of the Mountain King",

it's

"Spill the Wine",

and the version I heard was either by

"War",

or Eric Burdon of "the Animals" fame.

Me, I STILL can't make out all the lyrics, and I tried again

yesterday. icon_smile.gif:)-->

I always heard it as "take that girl", too.

In fact, the first time I looked it up, I was surprised the

line wasn't "Do I take that girl?"

Strange dream indeed.....

Ok, next song.

Remember, the TITLE and the artist, not just the artist.

The younger folks should have an edge on this one...

"But there are several other very important differences between human beings and animals that you should know about.

I'd appreciate your input."

"Yes I'm Siskel, yes I'm Ebert and you're getting two thumbs up."

Oh boy oh boy...maybe someone hear can help me.

I rally don't know this one...and have forgotten the website that someone gave for finding things according to partial lyrics etc....so....

This one is circa the 70s...lol...male singer, no group...it's about impossible to convey it not knowing the title or full phrases...

"...oh BABE...anyway...what would you say?"

I'm sorry...lol...this is pathetic.

I'll try to listen more carefully to the satellite loop when it comes on again and try and pick up more lyrics.

sheesh...I scare myself sometimes...

just say no to trivia...

...tomorrow

"What Would You Say" is by the Dave Matthews Band, but it's the wrong decade.

Therefore, you want "Oh Babe What Would You Say"

written by E.S. Smith,

originally performed by Hurricane Smith.

The year is 1972.

Yes.

The second quote is in all versions of the song.

The first quote doesn't necessarily get airplay,

but will remind you of the parts you HAVE heard.

To be specific, I think I have this version at home.

So put your hands down my pants, and I'll bet you feel nuts.

Yes I'm Siskel, yes I'm Ebert and you're getting two thumbs up.

You've had enough of two-hand touch, you want it rough,

you're out of bounds,

I want you smothered, want you covered by my Waffle House hash browns."

Ok, fine. Just give me the ARTIST.

I'll include the chorus now.

"But there are several other very important differences between human beings and animals that you should know about.

I'd appreciate your input."

You've had enough of two-hand touch, you want it rough,

you're out of bounds,

I want you smothered, want you covered like my Waffle House hash browns."

"You and me, baby ain't nothing but mammals

so let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel."

The band is a one-hit wonder-this is the one hit.

Fine.

Since this song was mentioned on regular television and so on, I was under the

impression that SOME of you had heard it.

The group's name is what people remember: "the Bloodhound Gang."

(After something from children's tv.)

The name is what nobody remembers: "the Bad Touch."

The chorus gets repeated a LOT in the song, so it's VERY recognizable.

Next upon the stand

Dixieland, Dixieland!"

man... I'm too old for this...

was it on Brain Salad Surgery?

I'm thinking the song was "Karn Evil 9" or something like that... first time I saw them... it was such a gas when they hoisted Kieth Emerson up in the air as he was playing the grand piano... and then started flipping him over and over while he was playing...

ah... those were the days... I hardly remember them...
