I'd be curious what message boards you went to...Ive been to most of the Red Sox and Yankees ones and most of them are really bad--(Yankees are better! Sox are better!..I hate you!! )<_< :blink: -----but the same things holds true for most other teams mesageboards that I have gone to as well.
I generally keep it down to two these days which although they can get alittle obnoxious at times both generally have some genuinely good insights that outweigh anything too obnoxious..
Like greasespot there is enough to keep me interested and I just avoid the BS without getting entangled.

Every fandom of every team has their bad apples...There was a guy in town here a few years ago that got killed in a bar fight over the ASU--U of A rivalry...Some people are always looking for a fight over who's better---Ford vs. Chevy; Catholics vs. Protestants; Curly vs. Shemp....One of those wierd human nature things, I guess...Cubs fans are probably ready to explode---it's only been 100 years...And fans know that their season can always turn on a dime...People forget the "curse of PFAL '77"...There we were---Cubs 47-22--enjoying life and and first place in June---only to have to go to that goddamn class...Cubs were 51-30 by the time we got out of there and ended the year 81-81...If you want to know how bad it has been historically for Cub fans, just tune in WGN during a rain delay and see how they kill time showing old Cub highlights...A few weeks ago, they showed the last few innings of Jim Maloney's 187-pitch, nine walk. ten inning no-hitter AGAINST the Cubs....
Some fans generally carry different reputations than others...The first Dodger fan I ever met was a guy in the corpse from LA...I remember how dumbfounded I was when he told me he went with his dad to Sandy Koufax's perfect game---but left in the seventh inning to beat traffic...Then there's those 450 or so Marlin fans who showed up to witness Junior's 600th homerun...
Baseball never was the crowd draw like it's been the last decade or two...In the old days, when Billy Williams was pitching mufflers on the radio or Ernie Banks was plugging Nickey Chevrolet, all home games were televised and were played during the day...And no matter how bad the Cubs stunk, the first question asked when you got home from school or work was "What'd the Cubs do today?"...
Looks like Willie Randolph got his walking papers in the middle of the night...Kinda strange that he was fired while on a road trip...I hope Manaya gives him a ride back to New York on his own jet...
I was just listening to an interview about this kid from Creighton who is a “switch pitcher”.
Pat Venditte was drafted by the Yankees in the 20th round and assigned to the Class A Staten Island club. He uses a specially made 6-fingered glove so he can switch from throwing righty to lefty without changing gloves. He said that when he faced switch hitters in college he had to “declare” from which side he was going to throw and then allow the batter to pick his side of the plate. During the interview, he mentioned that he sometimes pitched both games of a double header in college and has never had arm problems.
Given his position in the draft, he probably needs a lot of development before he would be major league ready, but imagine the possibilities...... how many innings could he pitch a year? 400? could he be a righty and lefty relief specialist?
Watching him pitch has just been added to my list of things I'd like to to do this summer.

The green shirts were to honor the Celtics btw, those good old Boston Irish Boys who play basketball , who just won the NBA title.
Its been a long drought in Boston --about a whole 6 months since the last championship of any kind, but alas the long months of suffering are over so it was only right to honor them with green....
I may be seeing the snakes this week coming up (Im in negotiations...)if so I'll let you know, I'll be wavin

My ticket 'negotiation' worked out --I got great seats to the DBacks and Sox Wednesday night, in a battle of 90 year old pitchers (Johnson and Wakefield scheduled as of now....). I would have liked to have seen Owings (mostly to see if they DH'ed for someone else in the lineup). Im about 15 rows up between the dugout and on deck circle on the first base side.....Ya gotta love Fenway--its as close as being at a darn high school game..

When Owings pitched in Minnesota last week, he didn't bat.
I'm thinkin' the pitcher gets the last choice ... makes more sense to me ... the batter stands up there to bat and THEN the pitcher throws ... so it is he batter that has to keep calling time out, not the pitcher ... he can't call time out forever ... can he?
Well Boston and St Lou have had their share ... and Chicago did have the Sox and the Bears and the Bulls ... but the cub fans have been so deprived ... they may need some special law passed for the mental suffering they have endured during the years of drought. Or maybe they could let them hit off a T till they win a championship ... I mean, it has been a century since they won a World Series ...

It's almost mid season.
The Dodgers still need help-like someone who can hit.
The Angels look like they're going to win the division.
The Red Sox are playing as well as expected-even with the big guys down-looks like JD Drew finally woke up
I gave the Yankees up for dead again, and suddenly they're right in it-why they're awful every April and May is a mystery
The Rays are for real and that's good for baseball, and bad for the Yanks and Sox-I'm liking the Rays proposed new stadium, with the 'sail' covering
The other color Sox are in first-I think the Tigers may still catch them
As usual, the AL is trouncing the NL in interleague play-who'd a thunk it once upon a time
I'd muse more, but gotta get to work
