  1. Gimme the sermon I heard in church last Sunday, any time. I really think that many of these people at R&R started out with a desire to love God, but got sidetracked along the way, fell into the ego tramp, and now they're climbing the greasy pedestal. Mary likes to hang about and talk to people, especially newbies. Is that because it gives her the opportunity to show off her supposed knowledge? It'd be nice if one or some of them spoke about the six months or year or more that they had spent volunteering daily (or at least weekly) at a shelter for homeless people, or for battered wives, or helping drug addicts, prostitutes, child laborers, and such like. You know, the ones with no money and a hard attitude to life. The ones who call "do-gooder" hypocrisy for what it is. Some place these teachers get their hands dirty in the sh-t of life. Fab opportunities to see people really turn their lives around; it's a very slow process.

  2. What does that mean. Dukie? LCM was insane, and caused so much pain and hurt? Because that's the reality. I suffered much because of this man and his perverted teachings. It has stolen many years of my life. It was painful. It isn't now. You will probably find most of the posters on this thread think similarly. We post here of our experiences, not because we hang onto the past in an unhealthy way, but because it seems that many still don't know or understand. It sounds rather like you are one of those people.

  3. That's fairly common in twi and in ex-twi communities, though. You might hear criticisms of people who volunteer and help others, but exhortations to help them are not nearly as common. They exist, but not in every group, and not all the time. The rank-and-file may already have more impressive track records on that sort of thing. When I was in college, I was in a service organization, and logged some 40 hours of community service, etc per semester (sometimes more.) After a few years of me doing that, the ex-twi group at the time discussed, at the leadership level, the idea that it's good to do that sort of thing. Shocking for all the twi-trained people. For me, the mention from a local leader that this sort of thing was good was in the "and the water was actually wet?" category. I agreed, mentioned I had a few YEARS of experience with that sort of thing, and offered to advise them and pass information if he needed any. He was polite, but his face was easy to read. You'd think I was offering to perform a necessary surgery for him in a garage or something. The idea that I might have actually gotten experience and training they lacked and needed, and got it from a secular source, that was either shocking, repugnant, or shockingly repugnant.

  4. Responding to WordWolf (sorry, i don’t have the “quote” thing down yet) - I do think there’s a style for everyone - meaning, he did appeal to a group of people, although much smaller than vp did. I’m not saying I disagree with your analysis; that’s all true, but a lot of people liked him and believed in him (misguidedly). Cult leaders are able to keep a certain number of followers, even if small, for a reason. But, to answer your question, it’s old wayfers with no group. Just listening to him specifically. And I don’t think he identifies with vp so much anymore. I think in his mind, he moved past vp in the 90s because I don’t remember him talking about vp much. I would guess he’s never stopped thinking of himself as THE man of God. WordWolf, just an observation, for what it’s worth: your post seems angry. LCM doing “phone hookups” upsets me because of all the people he’s messed up. Do I detect a similar feeling from you?

  5. Just a guess on my part but it would make sense that he probably negotiated an NDA. Again, that's only conjecture.
