  1. Hi folks, First, an update on how Undertow is still going strong since its publication five years ago (and a little more). It's been sold around the USA, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, and who knows where else through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and The Book Depository, which offers free world-wide shipping. As of 12/31/21, there were 1,475 copies (incudes paperback and ebook) that had been sold. So, I send a big thank you to Greasespotters for helping me get that story out. It's two stories in one, as Frank Schaffer described it on the front cover of Undertow. The two stories are: my personal one, and one about The Way organization that shows the devious Wierwille at work, up-close. TODAY cults are still in the news. Diane Sawyer did a special program that aired last night about Heavens' Gate. Here's a link to info: In Exclusive Interview, Former Cult Member Reveals She 'Never Stepped Foot Out the Door' | PEOPLE.com So, more people are asking questions about cults. I know you can tell them some good answers. BTW - some grown up kids of my former Way peers have been contacting me lately, thanking me for Undertow that gives them important and healing info their parents do not or cannot tell them. They are thankful. Some are mad. More voices may be coming here with stories of abusive Way leaders, but also of wonderful recoveries from the darkness of The Way. I'm humbled Undertow has helped them on their journeys. Stay strong. Charlene https://charleneedge.com

  2. I think I posted a Venn Diagram about it on your Malignant Narcissist thread. Psychopaths and secondary psychopaths were included if I remember right. Antisocial personality disorder often the sociopath. All under the same cluster B.

  3. Interesting video. For me, at least, it reinforces the futility of trying to come to a complete understanding of what the authors of scripture meant to convey. Using interlinears and word studies to attempt this is like trying to explain quantum physics to a 5 year old. Yeah, I know, there will be people who will say if you pray about it or speak in tongues more, the eyes of your understanding will be enlightened. I guess you can convince yourself of almost anything if you're driven to do so. On a side note, I used to work with someone who was born and raised in an Asian country and for whom English is a second language. I am a casual student of that particular language and culture, so I used her knowledge as a sounding board to try to increase my linguistic ability. It was often frustrating for her to explain my errors to me because she said that to switch between languages, required her to think in two radically different ways. One of the big differences she cited was that, in English, we tend to think in terms of "I' and me". Whereas, in her language, even though it's quite possible to express yourself like that, it would be considered egotistical and rude if done more often than necessary to establish the context. So, I think the point I'm trying to make is that this concept goes beyond the way specific words mold our perceptions.

  4. Its been a few years. I was surprised that my old account and password still worked here. How is everybody? What have you been doing for the last few years? What's new? Anything? Hopefully we are no longer the same.. and need reintroduction. I have been instructing math classes for the last 12 years. Still a Ham Radio operator, callsign KB8PGW.. but always getting involved in new activities. The newest is Traffic Handling. I pick up messages via radio from a digital board and deliver them the last mile to recipients. And relay outgoing messages to the National Traffic System. Still get involved in contests and Field Day. Still construct radio projects by hand.. Net Control operator for QMN, the Michigan Traffic Net. Nice bunch of people there. I will get to meet them in a couple of weeks at the annual picnic. What else. I loved Real Analysis, but it was the bane of my existence (stunk at it). It's taken me over ten years to figure a lot of it out.. I said once if the light really came on with Real Analysis I'd go back for the doctorate.. we will see about that. Still live in a town of otherwise nice people, they are pretty anti social. My best friend here is the cat of the residence, Samantha. Now have seven grandchildren. Six boys, one girl. Still believe in a God.. despite the world's best or worst efforts.. Exercise the best that I can. Getting older, problems with one knee.. but keep moving the best that I can. What about you? What is new, or what's not new?

  6. Thank you Lizzy, To have known Rumrunner as I did was a real priviledge for me... He was my best friend for 50 years and I still have not absorbed his loss... It's profound to say the least...
