So that's what his "Rise & Expansion" book was about? (Ok, that was cheesy) I actually bought a copy but only read the portions we read as a group. Didn't the AC grads have reviews of some sort of his book? My memory is kind of fuzzy but I seem to remember there was some mandatory thing about his book. Anyone else remember that? JT

Last straw? It wasn't anything dramatic at all. It happened one night which was like so many others. A room of dispirited folks going through the motions. Blah, blah, blah, moving the Word, blah, blah, blah... I finally got honest with myself and admitted that my heart wasn't in it at all. It was a sham that was hurting people. Not news now but I was definitely a hard core wayfer at one point. Death by a million paper cuts, I guess. JT

TWI's web site seems to be full of the same jargon they used 20 year ago. Phrases like 'lap into', 'labor", 'what is available', etc. are, in my opinion, still ways of being "different." Different, in their minds, makes them special. Other than better packaging and marketing, it looks the same. As an aside, I did my best to look at everything without prejudice. However, even the styling of the them poster's artwork looks like 1992. The religious version of the The Land That Time Forgot. JT

You have to 1. Vacuum in one straight line starting along the wall. 2. Pick up the upright (canister won't work) 3. Move it over so that each row doesn't overlap the others 4. Continue across the room 5. Repeat process but perpendicular to original lines The key is to step in the squares while pulling the vacuum towards you. That way you remove your footprints from the carpet pile. Funny how I haven't thought about this in years. Repressed memory, I suppose. Maybe that's why stringing chairs didn't seem so bad? JT

When you get yelled for not vacuuming the LC's house incorrectly. After getting there at 7 AM to clean HIS house! Rrrr... And my house did NOT get cleaned because he lived an hour away. For those of you who are not spiritual enough, there should be a checkered pattern in the carpet fibers after vacuuming PROPERLY. Like the lawn on a golf course. No, really. I am NOT making this up. Who knew? JT

Ham, I have to agree. You could put that sticker on everything they did. Promise a lot, deliver nothing. You pay for the class and you do the work. My first region meeting, I met a very gay corps person. Nobody seemed to notice but me, the new guy. ??? Turns out he later came out. Didn't need the AC to see that one! JT

I wish I knew who came up with the idea of going, listening, reviewing, etc. God knows and he's probably still mad. <Warning: Rant on the horizon> AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! Such bad memories!! Mind numbing boredom beyond belief. This was part of what finally got me to wake up. I brought a friend one night and it was a surprise event! Something fun? No. Something interesting? No. Something outside, involving food or anything else people equate with "surprise?" NO! We're going to watch the SNS video from the anniversary! Woopee!!!! And then we would review and discuss the video. We had ALL been there for the event! (How does one "review and discuss" musical productions?) :wacko: My friend got a "phone call" 15 minutes into it and never came back. We NEVER discussed TWI again.
