    Guitar Talk

I interrupt this thread for this announcement!!!! I made the hospital newsletter with a picture of me and the Gibson guitar and honorable mention for the photos that I took that they used!!! Ok, back to talking about guitars.
  5. Welcome, copenhagen. Was it worth it???? Well, I don't know. I went wow the first time (75-76) a couple months after taking the class and one year after graduating from high school. My wow family consisted of a precious young lady who was 17 at the time and 2 guys. One left that was from IL. The other was our coordinator. Kathleen was younger than I but was more 'rooted and grounded' in the Word. I still think of her and what a blessing she was to my life. I was a hillbillly from Kentucky and she was raised as the daughter of a doctor in a very upperclass society, which I didn't know at that time. I just knew that she was special. This is the only year in my life that I did not spend Christmas with my family. I went back home after the wow year and attended fellowship. The second year I went was 1977-1978. Again, I was sent with the daughter of a doctor and she was 17 also!!! And 2 guys, one from Il who left the field, and one from NY who posts on GS occasionally. I was the coordinator, but not a very good one, IMO. We were sent to a small town in MD and we were the only 'believers' there. We never did get a class together. This wow year I was able to go home for Christmas. After this wow year, I returned home again, and stayed till I was transferred with my job several years later. I moved around for the company that I worked for until 1996 when they closed our operation down. I am now back in my hometown and do not plan on moving again till after my parents are no longer on this earth. Then hubby and I may move to FL in a few years, but I would just as soon live here the rest of my life. I am proud to say that I signed VERY FEW people up for the class in my 19 years of involvement with the way international. Praise God. My biggest regrets are all the years that I wasted sitting thru boring fellowships when I could have been working toward a college degree and all the money that I donated to a CULT.

    Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Greasespots!!!! In a couple of hours, Hubby and I are headed to Milton, FL, and then on to San Destin. We will return on Sunday. Since marrying hubby, we spend Thanksgiving with his family and most of the rest of holidays with my family, which includes my mom and dad who are still living, Thank GOD!!!! Hubby's parents aren't, so we made a pact that as long as mine were still around, Christmas would be with them. Actually, this is the first year in about 20 years that Dad will be here, as he used to go to Brooksville, FL, every winter. He will be 84 next month so he sold his trailer in FL last March. I am thankful that he won't be on the road for that long trip by himself any more!! Be safe and have a great Thanksgiving holiday, wherever you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Paw, I don't have enough room on C drive which is why I bought the external hard drive. Anyway, I went to their troubleshooting site. It recommended as you did about the C drive. Also checking the Devise Mgr, which I did and all was ok. I finally had to change the quality of the video to medium. I think I will like this once I learn more on all the gadgets that come with it. I did add the Happy Birthday thingie at the beginning, and music also. It is not bad for my first project. Thanks again for the input.

    Belle

Happy Birthday, Belle. You brighten my day many times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep on posting.......
  9. The movie is jerky, due to the dropped frames. Now I have to figure out what setting to use to keep it from dropping frames.
  10. Got it figured out finally. Thanks again for your input.
  11. Thanks for that info, GT. I have an external hard drive that is USB so I can't unhook that. I have changed the settings so many times that I do not even know what the settings were originally. I have actually been able to use the "Instant DVD recorder" and it did record the DVD's. But I have 2 different 8mm tapes that I am trying to combine onto one DVD and then make several copies. I will keep trying. But it still says the thing about the input signal. I would be glad to call you if you had the time to help me.
  12. Please, somebody help me. I bought Pinnacle Studio and have installed it on my "J" drive which has 200 g's. When I try to capture from my camcorder, it says 'a valid input signal has not been detected'. When I try to continue on and play my camcorder tape and start capturing, it drops frames. I tried to change the settings and it still drops frames. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? I am trying to make dvd's for my family of my mom's surprise 80th birthday party, and I am about at my wits end. PLEASE HELP.... THanks......

    ! Update

Thanks for the update, Cindy! You all will be in my prayers for God's will to be done in your lives. That is how I pray nowadays, and things go so much better, 'cause HE is in control and HE knows our future and what we need more than we do.

    End of the Road

What has helped me the most is moving back to my hometown and reconnecting with family and friends that have known me since childhood and later. Even though we had friends that we hung out with in Memphis, it is not the same as being home. That is just my opinion. In fact, I miss my now 6 year-old godchild immensely, but I would not trade anything for being back home. I know DMiller has family near here, but I don't know about you, sogwap. I have read your posts and am sorry that you were caught up in the lcm mess. You can pm me anytime and I will give you my email addy and ph numbers. I live in the central time zone, which is moving back time tonite. DMiller's hometown says the same, doesn't it, David??? Anyway, my prayers are with you.

Hey, Belle, Great picture of you. And Vixen is cute too. (Though I am not an animal lover!!!)
  18. Roy, thanks so much for sharing your story. I almost cried reading it. Kids can be so cruel, as can adults. But I am thankful that you have kept on no matter what the odds. Also, I knew Larry and his wife Gina. They lived in Madisonville many years ago and had a daughter, if I recall correctly. Havent seen or heard from them in years. Wasn't Gina a teacher?? Keep looking to the Lord, he will carry you thru. I love that song and it is appropriate here!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless you, Roy.
  19. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LINDA Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From your favorite HAT LADY
  20. Hey, Chas, yes, I have been to many Catholic barbeques. In fact, one month ago, my mom and I went to St. Agnes Catholic Church in Uniontown, KY, to their annual barbeque. The weather was beautiful. You stand in line & pay for your barbeque, then you are directed to a table where you stand and eat. The servers come by and bring barbeque, cole slaw and bread are on the table, as well as baked beans. You pay for your soft drinks or beer separately, that way you can drink all you want. Then when you are finished eating, you can play bingo or other games. If you win, you get a choice of a homemade pie or cake. They also sell barbeque mutton and ham by the pound. My mom was raised Catholic so she has been going to barbeques for 80 years now except when she was married to my dad, and neither did we, but I try to take her to one at least every year since she divorced my dad 22 years ago. If you want to go next year, let me know, and I will give you a schedule of the ones in my area.

    Guitar Talk

Wow, Oakspear, you do have guts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While living in Memphis for several years, I loved hearing the blues LIVE on Beale Street, especially on Saturday afternoon. You walk up and down the street and listen to raw blues. That is one thing I miss about Memphis.... about the only thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, keep on telling your tales. You are fun to read!!!!!!!!!!!
