I don't know. It sounds like they might have been a couple of butt heads before they ever heard about The Way. But, that's part of the problem with this doctrine of "special entitlement" that TWI promotes. It gives people like this a license to follow their pre-existing inclinations without a sense of guilt. I suppose one could apply this same logic to other types of unacceptable behaviors that were rationalized in TWI. They used convoluted reasoning that stemmed from a sense of being "the chosen ones". Just my opinion

Or how about this bit of craziness: Ever try to use "believing" to wake up at a specific time without the aid of an alarm clock? I tried this one at the recommendation of a certain leader who convinced me it would strengthen my reliance on God. It cost me what could have turned into a pretty sweet job opportunity. :o

"I have a gas can but I'm not lending it to YOU!" (Probably wasn't "parallel" parked.)

I remember a local believer setting out on a journey with a nearly empty tank of gas. He said he was "believing" for God to add gas to the tank like the record of the loaves and fishes. I never heard any more about how he made out, but I suspect his next act of "believing" probably involved hitch-hiking with a gas can.

Precisely! The purpose of etiquette is to make an event a pleasant and stress free experience for the participants. What we did in TWI, with all our precise table manners, etc., was not etiquette, it was ritualized behavior.

It's my observation, from my time in The Way, that if you didn't "get with the program" pretty quick, your "stay" was destined for brevity.

Well, they have to fulfill that old "prophesy" (cough), that the "word" will live as long as there are members of the Wierwille family "standing". (whatever that means.)

Maybe "old hat" would be a better way to describe the organization.

What happened to all my prayers? Ya know, before I ever heard of The Way, I had no idea my prayers were second rate. Then I got witnessed to and found out I had it all wrong. See, you can't actually talk to God like you talk to everyone else. You have to have this special language, that they speak in the land of Lo Shanta, or God won't have a clue what you're talking about.And, God can't talk back to you either unless you talk to yourself in this new language lots and lots every day. And you have to make a real effort to expand your vocabulary, too, or God will just keep telling you the same stuff over and over again. Heck, I've even heard people say they prayed to God for answers (without the Lo Shanta stuff) and, presto, someone from TWI appeared to invite them to Twig and sign them up for PLAF. But, how can that be if God can't understand your prayers in the first place? So then my question is this: What happened to all those prayers I said before I heard of TWI?

This new SOWERS program is proof that the beast's heart is still beating. It's like a stinking time machine, designed to go back and start The Corps and Fellow Laborers all over again. They seem to have completely disregarded any valuable lessons that might have been gleaned from TWI history. Sure, it looks harmless enough today, but what assurances are there it will turn out any different when, in fact, the very principles it has been fashioned after have been proven to be defective and dangerous? In fact, how do we really know it isn't a phantom effort of the monster that spawned it? TWI is still current news, IMO.
