  1. More lyrics I got a good reason for loving you. It's an old fashioned sign.
  2. It seems like sometimes people want to put VPW on some kind of lofty pedestal and find some profound wisdom in his words and actions. (Why in session three at exactly the 7 minute and 7 second mark did he scratch his nose 3 times with his right hand? Was he giving us some privleged signal alerting us to some deep truth? )WAKE UP! No one wants to admit they have been conned, but that is what happened to us. I work with someone who was involved with a cult I had never heard of at about the same time I was involved with TWI. We compared notes on several occasions and the similarities between the two were astoundingly similar. Somehow even if we accept that The Way was a cult we want to think it was superior to other cults. Maybe VP started out with good intentions,I don't know, but for a long, long time he lived the life of a con-man and we were the willing suckers. There are some people who will never simply accept that they were flim-flammed and exalting VPW makes it easier to hold onto that belief.
  3. I'm not sure if these words are 100% correct but this is how I always heard them: I remember once, hearin' the old" folks sayin'" "Love's an ageless old rhyme." Now a days ya know the sayin' depends so much on The kinda woman that you find. Intertwining AND overlapping in play! ps-----Cletus(that's his name) says "You old folks sure gotta lotta "sayin's".
  4. Almost as bad were the "ministering" sessions that listed every known part or function of the human body. " And Father God I just thank you at this time that all toe nail fungus will completely disappear and the disgusting halitosis will just vanish immediately. And Father may all flatulance cease right now in the name of Jesus Christ."
  5. Buffalo Springfield---------Not too sure on the title----"Hello, Mr. Soul"? Intertwining is Neil Young. Is the title correct? edit: to add Stephen Stills to intertwining.
  6. I believe this one was a solo effort.
  7. Ah,yes. Romper Room. Miss Barbara would look through the magic mirror and say" I see Tommy, I see Georgy,-----------" Actually, I'll accept any cover but the original would be cool. Here in the afterglow of day, We keep our redezvous beneath the blue. Here in the sweet and same old way, I fall in love again as I did then.
  8. That would have to be that wacky Doo-Wopper from The Bronx, Dion Dimucci along with The Belmonts----------Donna, The Prima Donna. Same era Deepening shadows gather splendor as day is done. Fingers of night will soon surrender the setting sun.
  9. OK, let's do the math here. There are ,what, about 47 or 48 of them left? What are the chances of one of them finding you grabbing a Biggy Burger at the Burger Biggy and striking up a conversation at the condiment table? Man, if that happens to me, I'm going to buy a Lotto ticket ASAP while the odds are still in my favor.( Hey, how much are you supposed to ABS on gambling profits?)
  10. HaHaHaHa--Yeah, now I remember the "empties" thing. It was a shortened form of "empties floatin' by".(like an old tin can in a river) I guess it never occurred to us that maybe WE were the ones who were at the mercy of the current.

During my first year in Fellowlaborers, Howie Y. was the limb leader and therefore the Fellowlaborer coordinator. It was he who "turned us on" to the sweet sounds of The Sons. Well whatta ya know----- I guess something good came out of that program after all! (and the Django Rhinehart stories were pretty cool too.)
  12. Even though she's the girl next door.
  13. "She slaps policemen like Zsa Zsa Gabor."-------
  14. I just asked my grandson Cletus(that's his name) and he said" Crimanitlies, Grandpaw!, Of course George should get the next one!" Now where do you 'spose that young 'un ever heard a word like crimanitlies? Disclaimer-------No one from the Spencer Davis Group was mistreated or injured during the posting of this here post.
  15. I think much of what we did in our early days of involvement will be honored by God because we did it out of a genuine desire in our hearts to serve God and his people. Now, as time progressed and we did things just because it was required or some type of fear was involved, I can only say this: Just one guys' wacky opinion.
  16. dmiller--------I haven't had time to read this whole thread but I wanted to jump in and call your attention to an instructional DVD that Homespun Tapes offers. It's a 90 minute lesson called "The Fiddle According to Vassar". And yes, Orange Blossom Special is covered. This lesson is a level 4 so it's definately NOT for the novice.( though they do offer beginner lessons for those who might be interested.) Last time I checked it was about $30. An hour and a half lesson taught by the man himself for $30! They really should put me on their payroll for all the plugs I put in for them. :)
  17. GSG--------The intertwining part refers to Steve Winwood, though when he was in this group he was still called STEVIE Winwood( Because he was only 15 or 16 years old. )Of course, now he shrugs that off and insists:"I'm a Man!"
  18. GSG-------This one is definately from an era you are very familiar with. HMMM? I wonder if I could get TS to gimme some more of those lyrics?

    Health tips

Don't neglect your mental health. It goes hand in hand with the physical. Do something for yourself that helps you relax and eliminate stress, whether it be gardening, painting, building model ships, etc. "Have fun while you can, fate's an awful thing."-------T-Bone Walker

Kathy--------Yep. Blues takes on a lot of different faces that are often associated with geographic regions. There was Freddy King (The Texas Cannonball) ,SRV, Johnny Winter and a host of others playing that "Texas" sound. Back in Chicago you had Muddy Waters ,Howlin' Wolf and on and on. In the north Mississippi region you had "hill music" that had a droning quality. R.L. Burnside brought it to the publics' awareness. Detroit had a very distinctive sound as did Atlanta and St. Louis. Then there are people like Buddy Guy who can play it all as the situation dictates.

Jimmy Reed ---Oh, Yeah! I think God invented the shuffle expressly for Jimmy Reed. That "first position" style ( same harp as key being played) seems to be finding its way back into the mainstream again. Surprisingly, the "rack style" playing( harp in a neck holder while playing guitar) is also becoming popular once again. I guess economics of keeping a bunch of people on the road plays a big factor. Two guys who can really bring it to life are Paul Oscher(former harp man for Muddy Waters) and Mr. Downchild(Steve Brazier). Both could easily list either harp or guitar as their primary instrument. There is also a guy who was featured on XM 74(Bluesville) about a month ago who is also able to capture that same simplistic and soulful feeling that Jimmy Reed captured. Wouldn't ya just know it, I can't recall his name at the moment, but when you listen to him, it never dawns on you that this is all one guy(but not in a novelty kind of way). He plays rack and electric in a rhythm kind of way like J.R. There is a big harp blowout that happens every year in the Bay Area. Mark Hummel organizes it. Top notch players from all over the planet come together on one stage. He has been doing these for probably 15+ years and CDs are readily available.(did that sound too much like a commercial?)------- -------But Wait! ------There's More!--------- :)

Count me in on the prayers. I may have my disageements with TWI but God is still on the throne and he can do miracles. Speaking of "meant to tell ya's"--------The Blues Station closed its doors for good after the New Years Eve show. The last act to play there was----Scotty Bratcher!

Q.--What is the difference between a blues musician and an extra large deluxe pizza? A.--The pizza can still feed a family of 4 But anyhoo-----I saw Socks' post on Bob Corritore. I must admit I had never heard of him so I looked him up. When I read the liner notes for his "All Star Blues Sessions" CD, it was like reading a who's who of blues guitarists. I think a couple of them are from your side of town,Socks.(Rusty Zinn and Kid Ramos) I definately need to check this guy out. Thanks,Socks! Kathy-----Will they let you wear cowboy boots where you're headed?
