  1. I think it's chewing on it's own foot, unless it's growing another apendage out of it's mouth.....fugleeeeyyyy....!
  2. This one's too easy, but since no one's guessing I'll go ahead...Watchmen? great movie btw..
  3. Don't recall the name of the guy, only that I remember him from the 70's... ? Leah remini Plate, dish china eN
  4. Ha! I used the middle clue the last time I posted this show!!!
  5. I couldn't resist the Purrito (purrfect name), here's another one that came in as runner up: :) too cute! Hey guys, goat is another meat you find eaten in Mexico that you can't find in the grocery stores here too often! I've heard it is very good if cooked right...lamb and goat would probably do quite well in the Chile Verde! P-Mosh share your Birria recipe when you have a chance!! I looked up arrachera steak and found this blog where it says its the butcher that makes the big difference...http://morepleasebymargie.blogspot.com/200...teak-tacos.html although some also used marinades to procure even more tenderness using acids or fruit enzymes like lime, papaya, kiwi, or pinapple. Rumrunner, have you ever eaten at Juanita's in Leucadia? It's a must stop whenever I'm in the north county area, there's usually a line out the door. edited for spelling
  6. Thanks bulwinkl, I guess there's no threads from waydale on this website, I did already find the other content such as articles, on the GS front page archives.
  7. You know the sweetness is one of the things I like about chocolate moles, I always add some sugar to the Dona Maria jarred mole negro. I'm also a chocolate fan too. In my house the olives and the chocolate would be gone in the same amount of time!
  8. You are some hard core seriously fiery eaters!! I like a few jalepenos with the membrane and seeds thrown in, but not habeneros, you are tuff! You sound like you're an awesome cook too! I like your idea with the garlic, I'm gonna modify my recipe next time I make it and add the whole cloves and cheesy bread, I also use cilantro some of the time if I have it on hand, either in the chile towards the end of cooking-the leaves turn black when cooked- or as a condiment ro put on top with chopped onions, cheese and a squeeze of lime. Interestly, speaking of chocolate, I like to use chocolate in mexican mole, I doctor the store bought kind with chicken broth, schmaltz (chicken fat rendering), chocolate, sauted onions and garlic, a bit of sugar and sometimes I add peanut butter or tahini. I like mole as a sauce for chicken or turkey, over enchiladas, in homemade tamales or I add it to chlii.
  9. This is one of my favorite Mexican recipes to make, really good in cold weather, it is like chili except no beans and it's green instead of red. Chile Verde is also excellent as a burrito topped with cheese and extra sauce. Crock Pot Chile Verde (New Mexico) Ingredients 1-2 Onions coarsely chopped 7 Or 8 tomatillos 8 – 16 oz Green chiles, canned and coarsely chopped or diced (or make your own) 2 lb Pork shoulder or loin cubed 1 cup chicken broth 1 tsp Oregano 4-6 cloves Garlic, minced 1 tsp Sage 1 tb Olive oil 1-2 tsp Cumin ground 1 ts Red pepper flakes ½ tsp salt ¼ tsp black pepper 1-2 large potatoes chopped - optional 1-3 Jalapeno pepper, diced – optional 1/2 c Beer – optional (reduce chicken stock by ½ cup) Sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil, throw into the Crockpot. Also add in the green chiles. Depending on your propensity for spicy food, you may add from one to three jalapenos, diced. Then, add the tomatillos into the pot. Peel off the husk and coarsely chop them first, or you can blend the tomatillos and green chiles in a blender or food processor if you like a smoother consistency. You could even roast the onions, garlic and tomatillos in the oven first, and for that matter, even roast your own fresh Anaheim chiles instead of the canned ones, if you want an extra layer of roasted flavor, roasting the cumin first in a dry pan on the stove also gives great flavor. Take about 2 pounds of pork cubed, and brown in the pan that you sautéed the onion, etc in, add to the pot, loosen the pan drippings with some chicken stock and add that, the potato, chicken stock and the beer to the Crockpot. Next, add the dried red chile flakes, sage, cumin, salt, black pepper, oregano and the sage. This cooks in the Crockpot all day, or could be simmered on high in the crockpot for probably about 2 hours once the pot heats up to temperature, or on the stove in a conventional pot simmered on low for at least 2 hours. If stew is too soupy, thicken with a few tortillas torn into small pieces or with broken tortilla chips or with a little flour or masa combined with water, chicken stock, or butter, all are good thickeners, allow to cook for 10-15 minutes after adding. Traditionally, this is served in bowls, like chili, with hot tortillas, salsa, and cilantro. You can also have sour cream, grated cheese and lime wedges as condiments. Of course, you can thicken the sauce with flour and wrap the Chile Verde up in flour tortillas, with maybe some rice or beans, pour more chile verde sauce over the top and sprinkle with cheese, then melt in the microwave or broiler for a few minutes-making killer burritos, this is my family’s favorite way to eat it. There are many regional variations to this recipe, some don't even add the chiles they just use tomatillos, also this is good using chicken or turkey instead of pork. Anyone else have their own favorite mexican recipes? Enjoy!
  10. The revelvancy that "they're watching" is as important to me as knowing how many times my neighbor's cat used his litterbox today... Innies who are looking outside the hallowed gates of twi, reading the G spot's threads and posting, still need to conceal their identities unless they don't mind being outed prematurely. Those fanatical twi minion followers who pour over the G spot threads in search of serindipidous intel will remain mindless robots till twi turns on them too and kicks them out....I predict the next major purge will occur to thos 55 plus'ers who try to retire while sucking off the tit of mama international...they will have a rude awakening and discover their shelf life has a limit with twi head honchoes. They will learn twi also has limits on the godly unconditional love they proclaim, just try stickin twi with your medical bills when you're older in life and get sick....bon voyage!
  11. Just to clarify, Bpa's, phthalates and dioxins are three different things and may not be present together in any one type of plastic. The numbers on the bottoms of plastic containers usually can indicate known recipes for that type of plastic and can help determine what plastic you have. I find the fact that the UK and Canada have banned bpa containing plastics from baby bottles and certain types of food packaging to be extreemly relevant there have been genuine scientific studies to back up bpa information. Also, the fact that under the right conditions, cooking with teflon can kill birds in the same room, is relevant too.
  12. Well, I used plastic dishes with my kids, and used bpa leaching 5 gallon water bottles for my water before I found out about bpa too. But since my family is prone to certain cancers I tend to be more conscious of carcinogins I can controll. The thing the studies are pointing to is that the body retains iron and excess iron encourages cancel cell growth. Post menopausal women don't need as much iron as before, males over thirty five don't require as much either, most people get enough iron thru what they eat, so physicians are advising no supplimental iron after those ages. You can have your Dr check your iron levels at your next blood test to be sure. http://www.nutramed.com/nutrients/iron.htm http://www.cancerproject.org/protective_fo...rength/iron.php Building Your Strength Against Cancer - Iron: The Double-Edged Sword "Iron encourages the formation of cancer-causing free radicals. Of course, the body needs a certain amount of iron for healthy blood cells. But beyond this rather small amount, iron becomes a dangerous substance, acting as a catalyst for the formation of free radicals. Because of this, research studies have shown that higher amounts of iron in the blood mean higher cancer risk. Once iron is absorbed by the digestive tract, the body stores it. Most of us accumulate much more iron than we need. In spite of the advertising from iron supplement manufacturers, "iron overload" is much more common in America than iron deficiency. The reason is the daily diet of red meats, which contributes much more iron than most people can safely handle over the long run. A diet of grains, vegetables, fruits, and beans provides adequate iron, without the risk of overload....Unfortunately, the body has no way to rid itself of excess iron. Believe it or not, the only way to predictably reduce excessive iron stores is by donating blood. So this altruistic act can have health benefits for the donor as well"
  13. I never watched Lonesome Dove either, so I couldn't guess the origin...you'll find this is a very male dominated forum..most of the time. I've posted puzzles for Sex and the City, Jerry McGuire, etc, more female oriented programming, and they've sat here for days with no guesses either...
  14. Close, what word do you use to describe something that smells bad? It has an .....odor, so the word sounds like odor, it is order...Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
  15. Tell me about it! I've replaced plastic storage containers, kids plastic plates, bowls, cups, sports bottles, travel cups, kitchen utensils, tupperware, and 5 gallon water jug bottles, all swapped for stainless steel, or glass, or non bpa plastic. Also blender jugs and food processor clear plastic containers have high probability of containing bpa's. You're now not supposed to heat any plastic or nuke plastics, or put hot foods on plastic, and check plastic drinking water container's numbers on the bottom to make sure they aren't made with the bad numbered plastic. I already got rid of teflon pans in favor of stainless steel, anodized aluminum, and enameled cast iron. There are new studies that show too much iron built up in your system accellerates cancer growth especially in men over 30 and women over 50, so cast iron pans should be used on a limited basis. Studies show bpa's in plastics and chemicals in nalgene bottles can leach estrogen imitating chemicals into food and drink and cause children to go into puberty early, and cause breast cancer in men and women. Baby bottles especially should not be made with plastic and pacifiers should be checked for bpa's. In fact its suggested that all bpa vinyls and plastics should be limited in our home environments, buildings and furnishings too. Almost all canned foods have bpa plastic liners... Melamine like plastic also leaches chemicals if its scratched or heated, there are kitchen utensils, plates, bowls serving platters etc which are made out of melamine too. Good old fashioned glass and stainless steel like our mothers used is apparently the wiser choice.
  16. That's a greasepot gem Potato! Concerning weirwille's deceipt, each and every time he fooled someone, got something over on someone, intimidated someone, displayed false bravado against something or someone, or displayed a hissy fit over something to back down inquiries, clear back to his childhood, his college days, his days as a pastor in van wert, to the early days of twi, to the very end, it empowered him each time he pulled it off, to the extent he got away with impregnating his secretary in van wert to where it never followed him into his next gig, and to the extent he could brazenly drive his secretary to suicide in the early days of first growth in twi. He became a gluttonous monster in what he did to women, he grew bolder and bolder in his plagerisms. Bullies don't back down till they get beat down, he got bolder and pushed the enveloped further as time past and as he kept getting away with it all.
  17. I was at a special meeting right after Uncle Harry died, in Chicago, where vpee was there for some sort of big gathering, I don't remember what the weekend's event name was, but it was a big deal. Anyway, vpee called a meeting with the corps and wows and talked off the record about his brother and their relationship. I was relatively new in the word, but I got a bad feeling from that meeting and what was said...shoulda listened to my instincts. I think you're right skyrider, who was going to reign him in after harry died....I don't think h.a. would have, nor ermal, I didn't know them personally, but neither one strikes me as being able to ride herd over vpee...anyone who was on staff at hq in those days care to comment on their relationships with vpee?

    Website love

I know a lot of people who've gotten engaged and married from the internet. We even have a few here on the greasespot. I visit proffessional websites where people have met and married. I also visit other christian websites where threads indicate a good amount of people have found their significant others via the web. I even have a few family members who are a Dr and a sociologist who've met via online dating. There are some horror stories but there are many success stories too. Women have to be carefull out there in the world or in the virtual world, and for that matter so do men, looking for Mr/Ms Right can be hazardous in any venue. I'm married, but there are several people who post here that I would enjoy meeting and corresponding with as friends, I don't find that scary at all.
  19. Wow Chockfull, that was a brilliant summation....Right On, that happened so much on the twig level too.
  20. I looked about feverishly, hoping....he was yelling at somebody else. By now his face was all purpley pink colored with the veins on his neck and forehead standing out like jagged worms crawling across a crimson landscape, spittle launched out of his mouth as he yelled, "Yeah dorknut, I mean you!! I mused I would now have to get the car washed since the front hood was now bathed with big blotches of spit, he was now at my car door, poised to deliver another one of his usual spurt-chill tirades du jour, he opened his mouth...
  21. Ok, I keep hearing there's some sort of archival information from the old Waydale site that's here on GS, but I can't seem to find it. Are these old Waydale threads or something else? Would someone post exact links to individual locations, I've looked in the forums here and on the GS home page and haven't found anything that looks like archival threads from Waydale? I've also heard there is a CD that early Greasespotters have with old threads from Waydale, is that true or just an urban legend?
