  1. Love it! Right on. Scary, very scary. I guess there's no new thing under the sun, there are consequences for following false prophets, wherever they are.
  2. It\'s funny, I believe it was Ted W*se (or was it Jimmy Do*p??) who said that early on, Lonnie was investigating a theory about Jesus and flying saucers!! He was so hungry for knowledge that he just checked out everything. I think they were all searching for the God connection, but they had no teachers. Other than organized religion, which basically rejected the hippies and wanted them to take a bath and cut their hair, there were few outlets and no accessible exchange of information. That also made them susceptible to men Like VWP and Calvary Chapel’s Chuck Sm*th and to some of the stuff from the charismatic movement. You know, He*fner and Do*p received a formula from VPW on how to manifest holy spirit, Lonnie did not and kept searching. We from TWI had such a wealth, maybe overkill, of bible teaching from the get go basically just handed to us, whereas the hippy Jesus movement people in that time period were forced to develop their own resources such as the Living Room in the Haight and the House of Acts without much guidance or help from the outside except from God and what they understood from the bible. What they didn’t know they made up for with heart and love, and they were willing to go wherever God would send them, which from the efforts of Ted, Lonnie, Steve and Jimmy, they ended up bringing hundreds of thousands of people to Lord. It is very interesting that Lonnie said he was high on LSD when God showed him the visions that came to pass and broke the news to him concerning his ministry with the Lord, the ocean filled with people he would bring to God and the huge baptism he performed in the ocean at Costa Mesa. Makes you think about who God calls, and how far out of the box God deals with people, also makes you think about some of the social barriers or judgments we adopted in the TWI culture.
  3. Rainbowsgirl, thanks for posting, great post, I checked out YouTube's video clips of Lonnie's teachings, great stuff, he knew his bible. Here's some YouTube links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY5nCGoaYI0
  4. You can purchase a copy direct from the website using credit/debit or Paypal. http://www.lonniefrisbee.com/store/
  5. I watched the documentary movie about Lonnie Frisbee this weekend, and I gotta say, I'm filled with mixed emotions. I was thrilled to see credit given where credit's due to Jimmy Do*p, Steve He*fner, Ted W*se, and to Lonnie for their remarkable stands on God's Word and fearless execution of His anointing on their lives. David Di Sab*tino, the filmmaker, seemed to understand what they were all about, how unique they were and how significant that brief period of time was. There were many pictures of the House of Acts-the Big House where they all lived, great interviews with Ted Wise, the Heefner’s, Lonnie’s wife Connie, and with so many others who were witness to Lonnie’s ministry. His story is very similar to Jimmy Do*p, and Steve H*efner. He was a man of God, who was anointed with a ministry from God, a very humble and loving man without guile, who drew thousands, and healed thousands. The real heartbreaker is he ended up being pillaged by two older floundering ministers with failing churches, who in turn used him up for their gain and then threw him away and ungratefully drove him out. Lonnie single handedly grew both churches from nothing to thousands, the older and much wiser ministers took all the monies generated by the abundant sharing of the new parishioners, and handed him his hat and walking papers once they had a big enough congregation. Both of the churches are still around today, the Calvary Baptist and The Vineyard church, and have all but written him out of the church history books. Neither church would have been in existence today if it were not for Lonnie Frisbee and his relationship with God. Pretty much the same kind of coup VPW performed on Jimmy Do*p and Steve He*fner; when he set himself up as the grand poobah, took all the money, took all the people, and tried to write them both out of the history books too. The saga doesn’t pinpoint how it happened, but at some point Frisbee fell back to a former sinful practice that he was previously delivered from, and that’s when the Church leaders turned their backs on him. I’ve followed the posters here on GS from the early days of the Way West and East, the way they tell it, it seems they had no problem with the Word driving out things in people’s life that held them back from God, like the drugs and sex stuff. It was only after the tentacles of VPW and the Corps coming in which started entangling the fellowships and leaders with rules, programs and allegiances that the drug and sex stuff started creeping back in. As soon as VP started to add some of man’s spin cycle reasoning and practices into the purity of the Word, it started corrupting the Word in people’s lives, people who had been previously delivered, as the Word was stronger than those things. There’s a great post from Tom H on this subject from the thread “Jim Do*p the Way West & VP” that illustrates this point: This also parallels Lonnie Frisbee’s life in that at some point his ministry took a turn while he was entrenched with these churches, where he let his weaknesses back into his life, which resulted in the church leaders callously discarding him. It is eerie the parallels between what happened to Lonnie and to Jimmy and Steve who all started from that house of Acts. I will always wonder what would have happened if they had taken back their people and branched off on their own…. www.jesuspeoplemovement.com www.christianitytoday.com/movies/interviews/daviddisabatino.html
  6. John, How do you view the speaking in tongues in ones own private prayer life? Could you include your scriptural references with those reasons as to why you think TWI taught it wrongly? Thanks.
  7. I do believe he was doing these things while you were in residence, it's more like the systematizing of error. More of a deep seated thing, at this stage, he is unfit for Christian ministry. I don't know when he emersed himself in idol worship of VPW and his ways, but it had to be early on, that certainly had to quench any spiritual vitality from within that he had initially developed on his own. God can take any man in whatever state he is and forgive him, but you can't fool God, He knows the heart.
  8. Hi Exie! Ok, I trust your testimony, did he also engage in these activities himself? :( Yuck!
  9. Yeah, right, he did nothing wrong, his list of conquests included underage minors, daughters of some of the clergy that were at HQ on staff, who were only there to help do their part to "save" the ministry. The man has a seared conscience, what he ministers is not from God.
  10. Danny, are you refering here to the driver who was also the wife beater? Another secret TWI innie behavior. Also, do we have any eye witnesses/testimonies here to Geer's involvment in the secret innie activities?
  11. Try Ebay, old TWI stuff is always found there, many people liquidate their old ministry stuff from time to time there. I just saw The Police in concert recently, not the band you're looking for, but they're an old band from the 80's, :P they were great! Sting was still in good voice, Stewart Copeland was spot on, and Andy was good too!
  12. Right on Shaz, you hit the nail on the head! The times I've been told to correct something here, it was completely inappropriate. The first time resulted in me erasing the thread I started trying to find someone, then the person I was trying to contact fell asleep about a week later, I'm not over that one yet. The second time it happened, the poster dogged me on several posts and insisted I agree with him, and then went on to dog me the next time I posted on that forum. Completely rude and inappropriate behavior. I also had someone insist that I was not allowed to thread creep on the thread he started! He shoulda noticed it was a dead thread that had run its course, and it was near the bottom of the page before I posted and injected new life into it. In my mind it wasn't even thread creep cause I thought my comments related to the subject, I just objected to the validity of his assertions and thought he was asking the wrong question. I usually never care about spelling on any web board I post on, I care about spelling/grammar issues on business correspondence, but not here on a web forum. The spelling nazi's remind me of legalists: those rejoicing and exhaulting themselves by your obedience to their rule.
  13. Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't seem to find a link to download this conversation with David Di Sababatino anywhere. Is this conversation available to listen to in the future if not available now? I wish I knew about it when it occurred, I sure would have liked to have some questions answered about the Jimmy Do*p era and how VP hijacked their ministry. Has anyone been able to find a download spot or can explain how to access it? Thanks in advance.
  14. Eyesopen, that's it!!! You've got it!! Thank you!! I thought the ingredients had to be fig or date since the color was so dark brown, but your recipe is it, those ingredients would account for the color. I've been looking for three other recipes I haven't been able to crack from what I recall at Emporia, they are for the millet, the Bennie's Wheat dinner rolls (even though I can't get Bennie's wheat) and the Chicken Divan. Everytime I've tried to make millet, it comes out tasting so bland and the Chicken Divan has never come out like I remember it. Do you have these recipes too? I actually like the healthy style cooking, but I'm not fanatical about it, sugar is allowed. There are probably lots other recipes that I would have liked to have, but too many years have passed for me to remember them. I should have asked to copy some of them down at the time, but I guess I figured I had plenty of time and could always get them later.... About the Spotted Dick, it's a British Christmas time dessert. My mother in law is from the U.K., and I've actually bought it for her. You can get it in cans at Costplus stores or at any International food store. It does have a funny name though. ChasUFarley, bring it on, even tho it's not what I was looking for, any good recipe is welcome!
  15. JohnJ, I don't know much more than what I posted, I got my info second hand from someone else quite a few years ago, maybe someone in the Boise Idaho area or who knows of Armstr*ng's group will post more on the subject.
  16. now I see

    I soloed today

Hey Jim, CONGRAT's on the solo touch and goes!!! I just saw your post for the first time today. How's the flight training going? Have you done your cross country yet, do you still have a shirttail?
  17. JohnJ, you said: Are you referring to Dana Armstr*ng's group? If so. I hear he's got a large vibrant ministry bursting at the seams there, especially with the teens and young people. Are they hosting Ge*r? What does he teach and to whom? Please say more on the subject, if you please....
  18. Those recipies look interesting to me too, I'll let you know how they turn out when I try them! ;)
  19. Ex- Happy Birthday !!!!!!!!! You have many friends here, and you are loved!!!!!!!!
  20. John T*tnall is out in Ventura, California. He and his wife, Betty Anne were assigned to Oxnard after they graduated from the Corps, and they are still in the area. I know of no finer man of God than he, nor no greater servant of God here on earth than he, I wish I still lived close enough to visit him. PM me if you want more specific info.
  21. Does anyone remember/have an old Emporia recipe that was a cake like snack or dessert; it was kind of a heavy fruit bread that was served with cream cheese spread between two slices? It was dark brown in color, maybe made with date or fig puree, and was very moist. Any one know what it was? I would like to have the recipe if anyone knows it, thanks in advance.
  22. The local PBS station a while back was featuring live demonstrations of favorite crock pot recipies, I think it was durring a donation drive. Anyway, the recipies are all listed on this website: http://www.glendaskitchen.com/crockpot/categories.htm I saw a few of the recipies demonstrated, they were the liquid lasagna, spinach casserole, and the Sauerbraten, and they looked really good.
  23. There's a great champagne at Trader Joe's that's under their Trader Joe's label it's an Almond Champagne (sparkling wine). It runs about $8.00 and I think it's great. We used at my wedding recently, very good, smooth, not bitter, nice balanced flavor.
  24. If you still need a good curry recipe, here's my favorite version of Christmas Curry English style: 1 cup chicken broth 5 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup minced onion 6 tablespoons flour 2 1/2-31/2 teaspoons curry powder (pick the curry powder of your choice I like Madras in the can) 1 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger (Additional tumeric or 1/2-1 tsp of prepared english mustard can be used to deepen the yellow color of the sauce, if desired) 2 cups milk or any combination of half and half/yogurt/sour cream/unsweetened canned coconut milk 2-4 large potatoes peeled and chopped into bite size pieces and boiled till tender but not mushy 1/2 cup frozen peas 1-3 lbs peeled shrimp cooked or uncooked Juice of 1/3 lemon or lime 2 hard boiled eggs sliced in eighths lengthwise Condiments: 1/2 cup chopped peanuts 1/2 cup shredded coconut sweetened or unsweetened is Ok 1/2 cip chopped raisins Optional condiments: 1/2 cup minced or sieved hardboiled eggs 1/2 cup each diced egg, celery, green bell pepper, mango, pineapple, bacon bits, chutney etc. Directions: Melt butter in a large pan. Add onion. Simmer until tender. Stir in flour and other dry ingredients. Gradually stir in chicken broth and milk/half and half etc (use any combo of these choices I prefer the 1/2 and 1/2 over milk and substituting 1 cup with the coconut milk). Stir till thickened, add more or less liquid to make the desired consistency, I prefer a thick gravy consistency. Add cooked potato chunks, peas and shrimp. Cook till shrimp is done but still tender (Be sure not to heat too long or shirmp will over-cook and turn to rubber.). Finish with a squirt of lemon or lime juice, stir, and add slices of hardboiled egg, making sure not to break them up too much while stirring. Serve individually over fluffly rice, sprinkle top with coconut, raisins and peanuts (must have condiments) and any combination of the other condiments too. The fun of this curry recipe is the variety condiment toppings and the mix and match ingredients, the shrimp can be substituted with any seafood, fish, chicken, or turkey etc and you can add or subtract the veg as desired. Enjoy!
  25. In my opinion, there's a certain trait that I've noticed with some of those whom have been associated with TWI, kind of like some sort of weenie factor. I don't know if it has anything to do with these lawsuits or not, but it's a trait of some, I've seen it pop up from time to time with certain individuals, where it's a kind of "you and the world owe me something" attitude. It has kind of whiney-weenie-weasily-like characteristics to it, sort of an absence of personal responsibility for their own decisions, actions, or lack thereof. It's like having an inability to deal with situations and loss, or not getting what you wanted and acting like an immature impetuous child, and then taking the responsibility off yourself and putting it on someone else, like suing them over it... I dunno...just something I've observed in the past... just my opinion.
