  1. I remember the car and house comments. I was told I was not a good steward for God. I was also repremanded for keeping some clothes (that I liked alot) because I gained a few extra pounds but didn't want to get rid of them. I was told to not live above my NEED because then it's GREED. I kept the clothes - but it was just annoying. I was also told to get rid of all my medication (for depression). I think that has caused alot of problems over the years. And I love how they say "We're not telling you to do it, we're suggesting...." But then if you don't do it you get eye rolls and smug faces.....and if you do what they say then everyone jumps for joy. Barf. I feel sick now.
  2. Again, Potato - deja vu. I was told how I should honor the man that married me -- after all he did me a favor in marrying me -- right? Barf. I love my husband but I won't do cartwheels and bend over backwards in the name of God for him. I was told I was ungrateful, unthankful and basically a spoiled brat by the head fellowship director -- all because I didn't say how wonderful my husband was and called him out on his crap (we all have it). Uh...makes me so angry when I think about it.
  3. Wow Potato. I've been reading alot of threads here and have some resentments I need to let go. I feel more apt to let them go knowing that these things did not just happen to me -- it happened to lots of people. I found myself the other day saying something and realized I was being an abuser -- it was horrifying. I had to stop myself immediately. The thing with people from TWI is they do it all in the "name" of love and care. That's where it gets confusing.
  4. Bump - Thanksgiving recipes anyone?
  5. Bumping this for the holidays. I'm digging out some sweet stuff -- anyone have anymore recipes for cakes, pies, puddings, deserts?
  6. If I remember correctly from my AC -- it was explained that aspirin effects chemicals in the brain. Healing can happen instantaneous or over time. The example of aspirin was "something as simple as aspirin can have healing effects." Point being -- devil spirits often mess with brain chemicals and an aspirin can knock out the checmical effect. I've dug out my old syllabus, maybe I can explain this better. But I was definitely taught this -- I think of it everytime I take an aspirin.
  7. I heard that something as simple as an aspirin could get rid of a devil spirit also.........
  8. I was taught at an AC class that depression and oppression are devil spirits that hang out and are both signs of possession. Depression works from the inside out and oppression works from the outside in. An oppression example was that of a flea (or bug) that was held captive in a jar and kepts jumping -- once it learned that it would get no where it stopped jumping so high. Sounds sort of like Pavlou's law. Alot of things I've learned in "biblical study" are out there elsewhere.... Oppression was also said to hang around ghetto areas where you could feel the gloom when you entered. Beer is cheap and drugs are cheaper -- keeping them depressed. Those two spirits hang out alot.
  9. That is so great Not a Wayfer, I still have mixed feelings - I was in an offshoot but the things I read on here directly apply. I was told I had freedom of will but then it seemed I was frowned upon when I utilized it. Even though it was sworn -- I had the freedom. That always confused me. Groups seemed distant and I was told, "there was no excuse, just busy." I hate when people use that term, "busy." It's such a cop out and basically means there is something more important than you and your friendship. It's great when you find a niche of friends you can just relax with. It's hard to come by as an adult.
  10. I believe that the 5 senses are deceived and we have to trust in God and our walk with him. (Ever smelled an onion and bitten into an apple? Or looked down railroad tracks? Or stared at a 3D poster?) There is more than meets the eye, smell, taste, touch, sound. I did a brief study on this while I was really bible thumping -- it's always piqued my curiousity. As for a broken arm -- you can receive medical attention but also believe to be healed up quickly. These techniques are used alot in Eastern cultures -- The Way Intl. was not unique in teaching this.
  11. This is an old tried and true favorite of "most" people -- I have come across a few who have not liked it -- but to each their own. Ground beef (like a 1lb. or so) Jiffy cornbread mix (one box) Chilli sauce (found near the ketchup at the grocery store) 2 cans of Campbell's vegetable soup Brown ground beef (stir in some onion if you want - salt, pepper, all that jive) Stir in both cans of soup without draining Stir in chilli sauce Place in oblong casserole dish Mix Jiffy cornbread according to directions BUT DOUBLE the milk (I use soy milk and it works fine). Pour cornbread mixture over meat Bake according to Jiffy box -- like 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve with sour cream and shredded chedder cheese Made this Monday night with fresh veggies. It turns out a little different but it's still great. Cut potatos and carrots really small and boil until soft. Break green beans into small pieces and boil until soft (they take a little longer than the carrots and potatos so I seperated them). Defrost frozen peas and corn niblets while doing this. Don't cook them, just let them sit out awhile. Mix all (except corn) together with meat and chili sauce. Pour corn into Jiffy corn bread mixture. Bake and serve with chedder cheese, sour cream and I tried a little salsa with this (may be good mixed in next time).
  12. Baldy: "I'm believing for you to come to Twig tonight and teach something from the Blue Book." Haha, what is it with the Blue Book? It's like the bible among Way people.....
  13. Here's another from my adventures out in restaurant land. Portabello and Red Pepper Cuban Easy as it sounds and good! BIG portabello mushroom BIG red pepper (cooked in one slice or more -- NOT chopped) melted white cheese (probably provalone) cuban bread (sub roll) Cook / toast everything and serve with pesto mayo. (Mayo mixed with pesto).
  14. I didn't know where to put this so it landed here. We ate breakfast out the other day and I had a breakfast burrito. It was so good! It consisted of a tortilla heated in a dallop of butter (I could taste it and tortilla was a little brown) , scrambled egg, hash browns (fried potatos) and melted cheese. This was served with salsa and sour cream. Two things I wouldn't think to eat eggs with but it was Yum-O! I'm going to try to make one of these on my own. While on the subject -- hubby loves fried egg sandwiches. I thought these were pretty common but a friend of his had never heard of it and thought it wierd. Fry egg bacon (optional) cheese (melt on egg) toasted bread mayo mustard another Yum-O!
  15. We should all post here what's for dinner! But now I see : If you get a chance can you post your recipe under the Taco dish thread for recipes. That dish sounds great! Dooj: Thanks for the tip -- we ended up doing it the easy way and just baking in some lemon marinade -- turned out really good and the shark was delicious!!! I've never had it before. Last night we had chicken salad sandwiches (mine on marble bread) - every now and then I crave rye bread and I like the marble because it's mixed with pumpernickel. Leftover stir fry tofu for night (I think) -- it's yummy. And if you save those packets from Chinese takeout places they are perfect for adding just a touch of flavor without all the sodium (soy sauce) and the duck sauce (a little sweetness). Add a few dry nuts toasted like cashews or almonds with lots of fresh veggies -- yumm-o! And healthy! I love my wok. So what's for dinner tonight?
  16. I made fried rice last night and tonight we have shark and salmon. Not sure what we are going to do with them. I'm in the mood for pizza. I have leftober tomato bisque soup so with a grilled cheese that sounds good. But I'm craving rye bread. Sorry, I don't have a plan.....
  17. It always had me curious had we had it sooo right and others had it sooo wrong. I'm still working on that.

  20. So I broke in the smoker on Monday. The meat turned out really good. I used tri-tip steak. It was cut into three pieces (I wanted to start small) and I marinated each a different way to see what I liked best. A. A dry rub of pepper, salt, garlic, whatever else I had.... B. Wet marinade of Dijon Honey Mustard, beer, cider vinegar and smoke liquid C. Same wet marinade but an hour before cooking smothered in Sea Salt (can also use Kosher salt) and let sit for 1 hour on the counter. (this is suppose to make the meat tender through osmosis). After an hour rinsed clean with water and patted dry. A. It was alright. B. Second place C. Turned out the best! mmmm..... I used mesquite wood chips. I served it with a copycat of Applebees BBQ sauce-- very tasty and some potots, brocoli, carrots and cauliflower I wrapped in foil with olive oil and butter and placed in the oven at 325-350 for about 40 min. . Hubby said he would pay about $10 for a meal like that at a BBQ joint. I'm cooking brisket tomorrow. It's a big piece of meat so I need to get a meat thermometer. I've marinated it in a spicy mustard for 2 days now (going on 3) and I'm going to do the salt thing to it also. As usually...I'll let you know.
  21. Buffalo Chicken Burritos This is in the Chicken thread also - just maintaining some order A traditional Mexican dish gets kicked up North. ingredients 8 medium-size flour tortillas 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) 2 tablespoons butter 2 pounds ground, all-white meat chicken breast 1 large carrot, peeled and finely chopped 1 large onion, chopped 3 ribs celery, finely chopped 5 large cloves garlic, chopped Salt and freshly ground black pepper 1 cup chicken stock (eyeball it) 1/4 to 1/2 cup hot sauce, depending on how hot you like it 1 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed 1/4 cup (about handful) cilantro leaves, chopped 3/4 pound grated Manchego cheese or crumbled blue cheese, divided 2 avocados, cut into bite-size pieces 2 vine-ripe tomatoes, seeded and chopped preparation Preheat oven to 250°F. Wrap the flour tortillas in a damp kitchen towel and place in the low oven until they warm through and become pliable. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat; add 1 turn of the pan of EVOO, about 1 tablespoon, and the butter. Once the butter has melted and the pot is hot, add the ground chicken. Cook until brown, about 5-6 minutes, using the back of a wooden spoon to break the meat up into small pieces. Add the carrot, onion, celery, garlic and some salt and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 3-4 minutes. Add the chicken stock, scraping up any brown bits on the bottom of the pot. Add the hot sauce, black beans and the cilantro. Stir to combine and cook until the beans are heated through, a minute or two. Remove the warm tortillas from the oven, place a few heaping spoonfuls of the buffalo chicken/black bean mixture on the bottom of a tortilla, but don’t overfill it. Top with some cheese, avocado and tomato. Roll the short end of the tortilla over the filling, fold in the other two sides and then continue to roll it up until you have a tight burrito package. Once you have finish rolling all the burritos, turn the oven up to broil. Place burritos in a shallow backing dish and sprinkle with remaining cheese, place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese. Yields 4 servings I made this last night and it was yumm-o! Instead of ground chicken I used cut up pieces of chicken breast (cut bite size). I also didn't use a burrito I just put the mixture in a bowl and melted mexican cheese. I served it with white corn chips. While I was making it I didn't think I was doing it right - especially adding the chicken stock just seemed like so much juice -- but it had cooked down to about half -- I added the hot sauce and beans and it made for the perfect sauce. If I was using tortillas to make burritos I would have cooked the sauce down further because I think it would make the burrito soggy. However, with corn chips it was perfect! This would also be good over a fresh salad! It is really good -- hubby loved it!
  22. I made these Chicken Buffalo Burritos tonight (minus the burrito) haha. I made the chicken mixture and put it in a bowl and melted Mexican cheese on top and served with white corn chips. YUMMO!!!! Big hit!
