  1. Switchboard.com has six listings for Martin Erb and eleven for Joyce; unfortunately, none of them overlap. I remember the Erbs from my Advanced Class ('79) and an occasional ROA. Nice couple. George
  2. 23=0! On to Michigan. For Pirate and others with tarry heels, I have this link: Illinois vs. UNC George
  3. Not a major point, of course, but this confuses me. 150 mm is almost six inches, but you lost less than four. --> George (Not meant to imply that being compressed four inches is insignificant.)
  4. So, come on guys, tell me about the Ice Cream Bowl!!!! George
  5. 22-0! North Carolina, my eye! Mighigan State is tough at home, but the Illini took it to them. The only ranked team Illinois has left on its schedule is Wisconsin, whom they've already beaten once. You can't take anything for granted, of course, but Illinois has a good chance of fininshing at least the regular season undefeated. Then there's the conference tournament, and then the NCAA. Stay tuned. :)--> George
  6. I went to New York for Don and Linda's wedding, and I stayed at Don's mom's house. I was originally stationed in Don's room with him, but once the "hacksawing" began, I headed downstairs and found a couch. It was almost STILL too noisy! What was particularly disturbing was not so much the volume but rather the CADENCE of his snoring. He sounded like he was about to choke to death with every breath! :D--> I also have to agree with Tom. He had a great heart and was always there. Even when he reproved you, you knew he wasn't going to keep holding it over you. No "Corps Nazi" here! George
  7. I can't help you directly, but I have a couple of suggestions: Try www.switchboard.com (essentially a free US phone book) and www.intelius.com (a more advanced people search -- it costs some, but you can get a 24-hour pass for $19 and search anyone you want). Try posting in the Friend Tracker forum. More people will see your post there. Welcome to Grease Spot! :)--> George
  8. Do you guys (and gals) mind if I butt in here, for a bit? Don Brunelle was my branch leader during his (your) interim year. His premature departure was such a shame. I miss him. Do any of you have Brunelle stories to share (warts and all)? George
  9. Maybe Steve edited his original post, but I tried the link and found nothing objectionable, just adn address and phone number for Janet Myracle (along with some ads). Bob, what were you so mad about? --> George
  10. Can you name ANOTHER song by them, though?
  11. Here's another one about me: I've been a big fan of Vince Vance and the Valiants (featuring the beautiful Valiantettes, the vivacious vixens of rock and roll) for many years now. I proposed to my wife at a VVV concert on July 4 (Independence Day -- ironic, I think). Vince got me up on stage, and I sang "It's Now or Never" and then proposed. Because I would always invite all sorts of people to come to VVV concerts, Lucy was completely clueless, even though her parents; most of her brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces; several people from my job; a few from our Twig; and my brother FROM CHICAGO -- WITH HIS VIDEO CAMERA, were there! George
  12. I'm bumping this thread back up, because I like it! Hopefully, we'll get responses from some of the other Cafe denizens. George :)-->
  13. 21-0! A crushing defeat of Minnesota. On to Michigan State. George

    AGE GAUGE

Ex70's and Outandabout, Have you noticed that, at our age, sitting in chairs and getting out of them is much more about arms than it is about legs? :D--> My brother pointed out that it's a lot noisier than it used to be, too! :D--> George
  15. I remember Dawn, too. She helped host a Witnessing and Undershepherding class I took in Peoria in late '78 or early '79. (I know that, because it's between the times I took the Foundational and Advanced Classes.) I saw her at a few limb functions. (I was in Champaign at the time). George
  16. Indeed. I've enjoyed all the various Green Lantern manifestations, though Hal Jordan was the one I grew up with. It would appear that DC is bringing him back as Green Lantern again (after destroying all time, space, and dimension as Parallax and then redeeming himself as the Spectre :)-->). George
  17. 20-0! This was also Wisconsin's first defeat at home in over two years. George
  18. Two car attached garage with enough room to park one car (my wife's :P-->). Accessible from the house via the kitchen. My 1996 Impala (driveable) and 1967 Chevelle (wrecked) reside on the driveway. George
  19. I also use "Just for Men" on my moustache. Not enough grey elsewhere (yet!) to worry about. I took one puff on a cigarette when I was 7. It's all the smoking I've ever done! I've written over twenty marches. Most have had one performance; some have had two. I've also written a polka. I'm in the process of writng a waltz to commemorate my mother-in-law, who died last summer. George
  20. Martindale's "de-Wierwillization" of TWI reminded me of Khruschev's "de-Stalinization" of the USSR, without the vilification. He obviously couldn't get away with dissing VPW, so he just changed all the names of everything that Vic did. He obviously intended to "make" the ministry "his own"! :D--> I was gone before Rosie took over. How is the "de-Martindalization" progressing? ;)--> George
  21. Of course, if he didn't have something different to offer, he couldn't have competed with the big churches. On the other hand, going out of one's way to "stake new ground" in biblical research can be devastating. I saw this to be especially true during LCM's reign. (Can't be the MOG unless I come up with some new stuff. Let's see ... here's a good one: I'll teach that the only reason for a space program is military dominance! No, wait ... here's a better one: homosexuality isn't just evil, it's the FOUNDATIONAL evil! Yeah ... that's the ticket!) --> Sheesh! :D--> George
  22. Have a backup plan. My grandson's name was Julia until he was born! :D--> George
  23. 19-0! Lousy shooting from the court, but the Illini hit a LOT of free throws in their overtime victory over Iowa. George :)-->
  24. All this talk of codes reminds me of a cute sign I saw on a wall in the most recent "NCIS" episode: There are 10 types of people in the world Those that understand binary, and those that don't. :D--> George
  25. More precisely, Confirmation is the sacrament. One chooses a confirmation name (from a cononized saint)as part of the rite. George
