  1. Oldies - I don't know when you left Twi. We got the boot in July of 2000. It was easy to leave. We weren't a rarity. There were a lot more people we knew who were out of TWI than those who were in! But I think of the people who left or got kicked out in the 70's and 80's. They really had nowhere to turn if they'd completely sold out to TWI. People who left back then were "tripped-out". People who left after PoP were "cop-outs". We were fortunate in that we didn't seclude ourselves by by making TWI our whole life - spiritual, social, theraputic - you name it, they had their finger in it if you were a true "disciple". But back then - talk about feeling like a leper! There was something wrong spiritually with anyone who left TWI. And you had to be really screwed up to get kicked out!!! Think about M&A - how scary is that? Talk about seculsion, separation, isolation - from a group that was supposed to be the "household" of God. I've had people IGNORE me or turn the other way if they saw me in the mall. Just a week before Christmas, my old BC brushed me off with barely a nod. What if I had taken that to heart? What if I was one of those folks who made TWI their whole life? We may have decided to go in the Corps, that's true. I went in because I wanted to help people. I had no idea about the direction that TWI was heading in. Did anyone out there have a crystal ball so they could see what was going to happen? Yes - some of the choices I made in TWI were my own - but there plenty that weren't! Yes - I obeyed them, because the doctrine of TWI taught me I had to. I was a victim. A victim of having the wool pulled over my eyes, a victim of being lied to and duped -- fooled by the wolves dressed in sheep's clothing. Did I follow them willingly? Yes. But that doesn't make me any less of a victim! Oops... isolation - segregation - Dissipation Race Relations Consolation Segregation Dispensation Isolation Exploitation Mutilation Mutations Miscreation Confirmation... to the evils of the world... 2. Ted - In the blue book, "I Love the Lord" has a "copyright 1971, The Way International" under it. I don't remember if I signed anything. It was a long time ago. I've seen other songs by Rosanne H. and Dean in that book that were also copyrighted by TWI. How does that one work? socks - my 15 year old punk teenager can't stand Avril Lavigne! Says she's a wannabe - a "sell-out". That real punk rockers don't go on SNL. They play in gritty, grimey places like CBGB's in New York! In other words, more like "The Ramones" than "Limp Bizkit". She said most punk bands that get famous end up getting rid of the punk music and go mainstream but keep the punk image. I don't know much about it. Some of the music is okay - better than rap as far as my tastes go. But I couldn't tell you the difference between "New Found Glory" and "Saves the Day"!!! Oh where are the Beatles when we need them?? Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  3. Profound, Buds - truly insightful. Thanks. Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  4. Check out this site: U.S. Copyright office This has come up before regarding things other than music. Copyrights do not have to be registered in order to hold one. This has been in place since 1976. Registering it is a good idea and affords you more protection, but if you don't register it, it doesn't mean that it's up for grabs - it's still yours. and I checked on this when I started posting on a poetry forum. Not that anyone would want to steal any of my stuff... I just wanted to make sure it was mine! Hope R. color>size>face> P.S. Ted - I did that registered mail thing when "I Love the Lord" was copyrighted. Then I gave it to VP as a gift. Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  5. Thanks to all of you. I have contacted the person who was looking for them with the info here. I'm sure he'll try to reach them soon. Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  6. HAL!!!! Gosh buddy... good to see you... I must have missed your other posts or was too stupid to realize it was you! Not to derail the thread but... I'm sure you were probably more set-apart because you were only a "Corps Spouse" - though John and I never thought of you in those terms. Wish we had known about you being alone - you could have come over and hung out with us. Love to Nancy, and the girls!!! Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  7. Sisters of Mercy Leonard Cohen Oh the sisters of mercy, they are not departed or gone. They were waiting for me when I thought that I just can't go on. And they brought me their comfort and later they brought me this song. Oh I hope you run into them, you who've been travelling so long. Yes you who must leave everything that you cannot control. It begins with your family, but soon it comes around to your soul. Well I've been where you're hanging, I think I can see how you're pinned: When you're not feeling holy, your loneliness says that you've sinned. Well they lay down beside me, I made my confession to them. They touched both my eyes and I touched the dew on their hem. If your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn they will bind you with love that is graceful and green as a stem. When I left they were sleeping, I hope you run into them soon. Don't turn on the lights, you can read their address by the moon. And you won't make me jealous if I hear that they sweetened your night: We weren't lovers like that and besides it would still be all right, We weren't lovers like that and besides it would still be all right. The only voice I hear when I think of this is that "clear as a bell" voice of Judy Collins. Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  8. Dear Lord, Fresh, I've missed you! Glad you're back... Lately, when I think of TWI I think of Waco or Guyana. I don't think they're all going to kill themselves in Ohio or Gunnison, but the seclusion is becoming much like those other two groups. That's why when QQ posted his thread about TWI predictions, mine was that they'll sell HQ's and move the whole operation to Gunnison. It's more secluded... easier to hide there than at HQ's - and it doesn't require as many people to run the place. The other thing that secludes TWI people, even those who live in normal communities is the teaching to "be ye not unequally yoked with unbelievers". I heard that teaching the first year I was in TWI... one of those green retemories from the D/W/A class. In 1995 at the last Rock - that's what LCM taught. It was titled "Living Sanctified" but was more like living in isolation, seclusion, withdrawal. Stay with the people who "do the word" who will "keep you sharp" in the household! A quote from that class that I just happen to have is: "God will keep you protected if you stand in the household and get yourself in the sanctified category of living God's word. God can then bare His arm and protect you." In other words, IF you stand in the household - THEN God will protect you. The devilish teaching of the "household" evokes isolation and seclusion from the rest of the world. It also teaches fear and disdain of anyone who has no TWI involvement - which leads to further seclusion. It teaches ridicule of those who "don't know as much" and/or other religions - which takes away any temptation to seek them out - which keeps people under the thumb and in need of TWI's doctrines. More isolation and reclusiveness. Great topic... one for the psychology and sociology books for sure... And isn't seclusion part of the "cult mentality" we've all read about? 9. This person would like to get in touch with them but feels they won't be able to talk to them if they are still in TWI. Any info would be helpful... Thanks!
  10. I refused to "burn" or toss any music in those "Uncle Harry" bonfires. My mind always went back to "Farenheit 451" and black and white images of the massive burning of Beatle albums when John Lennon stated that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. I wouldn't part with any music no matter how "devilish" someone else thought it was. The only thing I ever got rid of on one of those weekends was a deck of Tarot cards I had from before I got in TWI. Other than that, I can't remember a single thing I burned or threw away because TWI told me I should "clean house". I have a story to tell about that, but it doesn't go in this thread... 11. And another sword question... Aragorn's sword, Anduril, was made much of in the books. He announced his title and the fact he was the bearer of the sword that had been broken, etc. All I remember about the sword was the scene in the FOTR when Boramir meets Aragorn for the first time while looking over the pieces of the broken sword, Narsil. Other than that, I believe that I only heard one other mention of it, when one of the characters said something about legends coming to life...
  12. I posted this on a music thread that got zapped when the server was having problems in October... I thought aftera few hundred posts on this thread, you all might enjoy it. It's from the Nassau County paper, Newsday. And here's the review: Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  13. A friend asked me to find out if they are in or out and where they might be. Anyone know? Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  14. Kathy - Peter Jackson said the reason they ended the film earlier than the book was because if they did the Shelob scenes in T2T, then Frodo and Sam wouldn't have much to do until the very end of ROTK. Zix - The green box came today. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Shoulda gotten the bookends, too! :(--> QQ - The 2nd time I saw it, I thought the same thing. There were over 10,000 Orcs, and even though the Elves and the Rohanites (?) killed off a lot of them, they still outnumbered the good guys by the time Gandalf and company arrived on the scene. I think the mistake that was made was that the Orc army was made so overwhelmingly large to the viewer's eye, that it made their defeat a bit unbelievable (as if Orcs and Elves are believable to begin with!). P.S. When Grima asked Saurman how many orcs were in his army, Saurman said "tens of thousands". Later, Aragorn reported to Theoden that the orc army had "ten thousand". To me, it looked like there were about 100,000 computer generated images in the orc army marching scenes! Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  15. As far as the First of May JT song goes... I remember seeing an interview with him while he was promoting that album. He talked about his dad and how he had a funny poem about the First of May... wish I could remember it, it was cute. And if he's a Commie, then where does that leave vocal anti-nuke people like Jackson Browne? It's all a case of private interpretation!!! My best example is Bruce Springsteen. "Born in the USA" is a song about a young man who survives Viet Nam only, gets home and can't find a job, gets no help from anyone, and basically says that his life has gone nowhere - it's a song about broken American dreams. That song was used as an anthem for the Reagan re-election campaign in 1984. Springsteen has commented many times that he was furious that the song was used that way. In an interview he said that he felt that Reagan "hijacked" the song and if Reagan and his advisors had bothered to read the lyrics, they never would have used it! The whole idea that the Beatles, James Taylor or Bruce Springsteen are Communists who write songs to rally people to revolt is nuts. Someone should start a thread on the various "conspiracy theories" that seemed to seep into HQ's in the late 70's. The "Marxist Minstrals" was mild compared to "None Dare Call it Conspiracy" and all that junk about the World Bank and the Illuminati... As for me, I'm gonna put on "The Rising" and make dinner.
  16. Ah... David Noebel... what a bore! The Sickth Corpse had the "privilege" of hearing him speak alive and in person. He's the guy that thought that Rock & Roll was a Communist Plot to brainwash the youth of America and subvert Western Civilization as we know it. He accused the USSR of using music with a certain "beat" to cause mass hypnosis in unsuspecting listeners. After our teenaged nerves were sufficiently broken down, and our brains were thoroughly washed, all they had to do was give the word and we would revolt, allowing the Commies to come in and take over the government! He wrote two books we were exposed to: The Marxist Minstrels as well as Communism, Hypnotism and the Beatles. Of course, the Beatles were evil puppets of the Marxist Revolution. Look at the mass hysteria they caused when they came to the United States! And that song... "Back in the USSR" - well, by golly - they want to lead us to believe that we'd be lucky to live there! (...you don't know how lucky you are, boy... back in the USSR) Being a huge Beatle fan, I thought this man was insane. I mean, I'd been listening and playing Lennon/McCartney tunes for years and never got possessed or had the desire to overthrow the government! After his long, boring, mind-numbing nonsense was over, I went back to my dorm room, got out my trusty little cassette player, popped in a tape I'd made of the White Album, and played it as loud as I could! None of my roomies told me to turn it off, we all just sang along! Hope R. color>size>face> show me round the snow-peaked mountains way down south... take me to your daddy's farm... let me hear your balalaika's ringing out...come and keep your comrade warm!
  17. LLP - the Mexican restaurants around here do that... and I agree - it's really does taste great! (btw - good to see you!) Wag's! Haven't heard that one in a long time. Yesterday, someone mentioned Sambo's!!! Talk about politically incorrect!
  18. What about the greatest sin a man can commit? What about all the X's - the degrees of sin? I don't believe any of that was right.
  19. Not to derail, but rolltide, I've lost your phone #... can you email me? hoperich@tampabay.rr.com
  20. Speaking of "coming out of hiding"... Karl, it's great to see you here :)--> Welcome back! Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll
  21. EWB - As far as picking on Mike goes, I haven't read all his (or anyone else's) extremely long posts, but I've skimmed them. I haven't seen any indication where Mike has accused anyone of "picking" on him. This is a discussion forum. Disagreements and opinions are common. I know if I thought I was getting "picked on" - I'd say something to the posters I thought were causing the harm - which (as many can tell you) I have done in the past. Mike - do you feel like people who are reponding to your posts as vehemently as you write them are "picking" on you?
  22. Aren't corn dogs fried??? And the deep fried twinkies DO sound good... heeheee - my mom once told me that anything tasted good when it's fried!!! (think of gross things!) Hope R. color>size>face> Life, what is it but a dream? - Lewis Carroll

  24. Got it for $29.99 on Amazon. No shipping, no tax. Easier than going to BB... I hope when you mean "Green Box" you mean the "Platinum Series Extended Edition" (?)
  25. Lindyhopper - Been reading your posts and I'm glad you're here. Like Mr. P-Mosh, I appreciate the prespective of those of you who got into TWI by your parents choice and not necessarily by your own choice. Love you comments on the other threads - especially the "separate people" post... you're right up my alley! Welcome to the Spot... regular or decaf?
