  1. Having studied the National Reading Panel's report and read the act carefully, I also believe that school districts have been put in the position of trying to factory produce a population of Lexuses on a Yugo budget. Parents---if they are also able to get a palatable version of all the above would know of more so called rights...(IDEA has Rights, NCLB does not) i.e. a parent insisting a reading program be evidence based vs. a good sounding ideology without research back-up. Problem is...I'm anal and actually read that stuff, but 99.99% of the pop. doesnt. Furthermore-many fight change of any kind and then on top of that there are the different cultural paradigms that include and exclude parental involvement...for whatever cultural value. It is pretty messy.
  2. WG- I agree with ya--but, it was works ...from then on...at least everything else we did sure seemed like our works were the apex of good and bad results. (closer to karma really)
  3. the Eucerin is actually made by a different company than Eutra...but I like the Ahava DERMUD the best.
  4. The only thing we really held to post-way was pushing ourselves to come to an agreement of some kind when we disagreed. Sometimes we woud have to talk all night... but thats okay...coming up on 17 years. Hubby works so ard now---he counts on me to handle it all most of the time and keep him informed, on rare occaisions, I have to call and do the "we need to talk" about whatever, but not much...we were older when we got married and both had a fair amount of life experience, despite George Hendley putting down my husband at our rehearsal dinner...but htat's another thread.

  6. I know of Eucerin...good stuff, but it always stung my childrens skin. Another one I use is called Eutra....hard to find tho', they have an 1-800-63EUTRA number. It is imported from Switzerland....and this never stung my kids' skin. Living in New Mexico and having a family with allergies (meaning the occaisional excema pops up) we are serious about our dry skin. :D-->
  7. WG-- itchy skin... AHAVA - DERMUD best stuff in the world...hubby ails from horrible dryness -- uses this religiously now... I know all about the vit E and ground flax and all that junk---all good junk---but for releif this stuff is great. When I am in the pool all summer long, this is the only soothing stuff that really helps my chlorinated skin---I dont take showers the split second I am out of the pool. I get it local and use a dealer in Isreal where it's made. The Isreali guy will get specials now and then and then I stock up. This is the famous stuff made from the dead sea mud. If you get it ---get the DERMUD body cream--its better than the hand cream. Also it is so thick that when you think its empty, cut the flat seam off and you will find lots more...I uuse a binder clip to close it, once I have done that. It is not cheap, but then again, you get what you pay for.
  8. mcds4---did you guys have a baby the year before???...and live in the 3rd floor flat next to the church and train station?????
  9. tippy, I was in the 2nd group and new all in the first group as it was a huge total of 4...I think it was in the 80's....no one that name in the 7zeros.
  10. PP-Mosh--I was a wow in 'derry in 79-80...were you around? Padraig B. was my wow-roomie.
  11. making our believing the impetous that answered prayers is dependent on is like saying God depends on us for direction....I don't think so Last I knew, when a drowning person needs help--swimming lesson knowledge is not what saves them
  12. I gave up finishing college and all my other goals.....
  13. Hey Goey---that should be the anniversary yearly theme poster HAHAHAHA
  14. i sorta like the old quote---Teddy Roosevelt, paraphrased, that ...if we do not learn from history we are doomed to repeat it... oh and goey--I remember hearing over 100,000 while I was a WOW in Northern Ireland. (as opposed to 30,000)
  15. yeah--hmm---it was after PFAL 77--the European WOW festival in '77...I was a WOW in Londonderry, Northern Ireland amoung other places
  16. Juan---I liked your post. Grizzy --tgats funny--eve and weekends..LOL There are other parts that describe the illusion that was our ministry in many versions...and I do like the NRS now---that I am weaned off of reading and talking like pre-guttenburg. And even the Pharisees had people following the law correctly...doesn't make them good Jews if behind the scenes they were as idolotrous as the word says they were.
  17. Thank you Oak--well put. It saved me the time. Papajohn--I did leave and with my family intact. And the idea that just because people did not leave right away does not mean they did not confront any of the "evil doers" our very own TWI Sadducees and Pharisees. There are other issues besides taking the "holy" stand...like family and so forth...maybe your employer is TWI...and you have squat to get out with..so you stay and try t figure out some kind of a plan ---Im just saying there are many scenarios to play out in this big mess called TWI.
  18. Oldies and John, when I read your posts': What I see, is the idea that the followers had to be more perfect than the leaders in your eyes. what I see, is the idea that people should not have wanted leaders in the first place...consequently it is thier fault they were duped. What I see is the idea that the tail is supposed to wag the dog. What kind of understanding of human nature and the abuses of that very nature is that? As I said on the "no authority" thread, the idea completely ignores the complexities of human psychology.
  19. The problem with this quote is oversimplification. What is the source of any action....incredibly multiple and varied... that quote is just way too superficial for me. I don't think I give TWI any authority any more, but I would validate the idea that it is there in my subconsciousness.
  20. I think we analyze the good stuff too much. and don't just letting the living of life and the good things be. I understand the ambiguiousness, been there and been there and been there, but I got to a point tht nothing was there...so I quit going back...and started to just really enjoy when thigs worked out...be there directly God erlated, or the so called coincidences of life.
  21. Danny- If you study the Calvinist's --which I did not do until leaving TWI, the parellel is similar...they too believed your prosperity was a sign of godliness.
  22. welll----- as far as om and jiam.... I think two thoughts, the summary thought..."he who smelt it dealt it..." and the more complicated one of defense of abuse on their part to illustrate what the Subtle Power of SPiritual Abuse says in many more pages which I wont duplicate here....but I will mention the psychology of trust as leverage of which they seem totally in denial of the existence of even the concept.
  23. yeah---fear that turned into SPIRITUAL BLACKMAIL
