  1. I have recently been doing some frying with Ghee Butter. It has a nutty smell and taste that adds a distinctive flavor to the food. Unlike regular butter that soon fries away, clarified butter does not. The process of making Ghee removes the moisture and other impurities from the butter, which allows it to become an oil with a higher flash point than butter. In the warmer weather I use it on my flattop griddle instead of vegetable oil to fry burgers and steaks. To make Ghee bring butter to the point of boiling which will cause bubbles to appear. The bubbles will soon disappear and the butter now becomes clarified butter. Allow it to continue boiling and will soon turn brown. This is the point you now have Ghee. Then I pour it through a paper filter into a jar to use it in frying.
  2. I recently attended a concert by the Kingston Trio and did it bring back memories. It amazes me how hearing music will return me to what was going on in the world when I first heard the song. It was like I had never left the era the songs was being played. Underlying most every emotion was the turmoil going on in the country in the 60’s. The country was rocked to the core with all the anti war demonstrations going on, race riots headlined the evening news, campuses were being over taken by students, and drugs were being introduced and used like never before. It was a time great reflection by anyone who believed in the American dream. I recall hearing at advanced class ‘78, the decade was referred to as “a crack in time.” 60 Minutes did a piece on the times and labeled it a crack in time. The original Kingston Trio members have all passed on so these singers are the 3rd or 4th generation and have even added a base player. The group obviously played the old hits, but also have made new albums. The evening was well worth the price of admission taking me back to a great time in my life.
  3. Those old boots can be very comfortable and often I hate to even wonder near the shoe store, because wanting that new shiny pair means opening the door, going in, trying them on, and having to get used to a totally different feel on my feet. Sometimes the new clod hoppers are so stiff I can’t get them off fast enough and leave them for another day. Occasionally the new fit isn’t too uncomfortable, so I leave them on, struggle through the break in period, and after awhile they feel like the old shoes did. Although rare, the new ones sometimes fit better than the old ones, but do not bet your life on this occurring often. Walking the earth day to day requires me putting on different shoes. If attemting to conquer a steep mountain my foot wear is a very sturdy pair of climbing boots. The boots will not do, however, when running in a 5K race for a local charity, as this requires a comfortable pair of running shoes. Finishing up the evening at the local square dance, a lighter pair of shoes without a lot of traction is needed. Having multiple changes of shoes, still requires me to keep them in good shape. If the heels are worn down, a trip to the cobbler is needed to maintain top condition. Even then, possibly a new pair is in order that will allow me to accomplish my walking task better. The older I get the harder it has become to even look for those worn down heels. Just clogging along, dragging my feet and wearing the heals down further is quite easy. But then something jars my consciousness and once again I observe the condition of my foot wear. Walking is much more fun wearing the proper maintained footwear.
  4. One of the beliefs I admired about TWI was VP’s saying; “you know, that you know, that you know, that you know!” I needed that mindset to function in life, because to me ,there were no gray when it came to God. At last, I had discovered the one true God and knew exactly what He demanded of me. Finally, I could function in life knowlng without a doubt, that TWI had God on their side, and I could refute what any other religion believed about God. My life was finally set before me thanks to PFAL. I was quite judgemental of others who did not jump on board TWI’s beliefs. How could they not see the absolute truth was right before them? I had to be right about my belief in God and all other’s were wrong. To be there was no wiggle room at all when it came to homo’s. They had to be eradicated from our presence. I generalized about people being bad if they has any need in their life. After all, they only had to believe the Word and all would magically be set right. if anyone believed anything about God that TWI didn’t agree with, it upset me. I didn’t sfow it but my mind had nothing but contemp for them. Everyone was stereotyped by me as either a believer or non believer, depending on if the believed in PFAL. But finally realizing my life was still lacking, even though I thought I was believing God for the deliverence, nothing changed. I had to look at PFAL and realize it was not doing anything for me.
  5. If we should accidentally cross paths, please remind me of the blade you carry, so I can judge whether my conversation could possibly be construed as narrow minded.
  6. The first two paragraphs definately say you are a cult if you do not believe in the diety of JC and good works are required to gain heaven. It does go on to expand on other actions, but the first two paragraphs define a cult and the rest of the world is a cult.
  7. The articles definition of a cult would apply to many organizations: 1. Deny the diety of JC 2. Good works do not get you to heaven. Much of the article references certain religious beliefs the author believes must be adhered to in order for a group not to be classified as a cult. According to him all religions rhat don’t have JC as the center are a cult, which describes Jews, Muslims, and many other faiths. To me one cannot use this article alone to classify TWI as a cult, without throwing in most of the world’s religions. I would certainly be thrown to the wolves as a cultist.
  8. Your post sounds like it was taken right out of PFAL.
  9. The year 2027 is 5 years away. Is their some significants of 2027 to you?
  10. Yes, Yes, Yes. I joined Planet Fitness for about $10 a month and it is the the best investment made so far in my aging process. They have a cage that has bars going everyway you can imagine, and instructions and pictures on how to use them to do stretching exercises. The stretching exercises begin at your neck and covers all the way down to your feet. Then there are treadmills, bicycles, free weights, and machined weights to build your cardiovascular system. When I slack off and miss a few weeks my body starts barking because it is becoming stiff again. In addition, I have lost 75 pounds and struggle to keep it off, but keeping the goal of maintaining as much mobility as possible, is keeping me honest and on track. Obviously, things happen within our bodies and minds that we have absolutely no control over. We can only hope the medical professionals have a medication, surgery, prostheses, or mental health help that will keep us going. We should take advantage of every available procedure so we can lead a happy and productive life. I have a relative who has slowed down physically, but not adjusted their calorie intake. Only one thing can happen and that is to put on additional weight. Another has had a heart attack are not changed any eating or dieting to lose weight. When the doc suggested these changes, their response was, “That will happen when world peace comes about.” With such an attitude what can anyone do to help them? They refuse to help themselves so you can only wait until the worst happens. So far the medications have kept them alive, but their mobility is limited.
  11. When I knew him he fully supported TWI and Craig. Of course, I have been gone from the Way 25 years so obviously things change. In the past few years I did see an obituary of someone in TWI and Ladwig was the officiating minster at the funeral. Could he be the proverbial Greasespot By Midnight for turning his back on God and leaving the protection the MOG provides? p.s. how was the bear meat?
  12. Apparently TWI is no longer living in the Land of the Prevailing Word. The following quote if from a staff commercial in The Way Magazine dated June 24, 2021: “Do you want to help move God’s Word over the world as Staff at The Way International or Camp Gunnison—The Way Household Ranch? For more information on how to apply, please contact your State coordinator. All applicants must be either a U.S. citizen or hold a U.S. Permanent Resident Card (green card).
  13. I watched it several years ago and cannot bear to see it again.
  14. “Don’t forget to bring your check book. Remember abundant sharing?” “Marked & Avoided? We can work things out.” “Women remember your leadership need serving.” “Bring cash for any classes you haven’t taken yet.”
  15. No doubt thry are high in calories, but no one has turned them down yet. I was just cleaning out the pantry—-now I have too many saltine crackers—-any suggestions on using them up?
  16. It is too early for me to get excited about Christmas baking and I don’t know if any baking will get done specifically for the holidays. I do usually have a loaf of bread rising in my bread machine, though. Last week, while looking through the pantry, there were a few boxes of Oreo cookies, so made a dessert with an Oreo crust, a layer of cream cheese with dream whip, followed up with layer of chocolate pudding, followed with another layer of dream whip, and topped off with broken pieces of Oreos. This is very rich and delicious, and a good thing I have friends to give some to, because there are too many calories for just two people to finish off.
  17. I wish him the very best and a speedy road to recovery. Last I knew a few years ago, he was still active with The Way. https://www.gofundme.com/f/mark-ladwigs-health-journey
  18. Most of what is posted on GSC are the evil works and the putrid fruit from not only VPW and LCM, but of other leadership of TWI. Whatever the pasts, before TWI, are of VPW and LCM, are not widely expressed here, but their evil works and corruption abound. For example, women in the ministry were subject to sexual exploitation from both men. Other leadership folowed by also taking advantage of innocent women.
  19. Bolshevik Why are you posting on GSC if it is so evil?
  20. A very scary new world for me. Being M&A’ed, my only human relationships were cut off immediately. I had not build any relationships outside of TWI at the direction of TWI. I did not want to have any influences outside of the household keeping me from building my relation with God. I blocked all relationships outside of TWI.
  21. When Craig recovered from POP, he referred to those remaining with TWI as the remnant. Since he was kicked out of TWI, I wonder if he believes TWI is still part of the remnant? I have not heard of him criticizing TWI, but not much had been said by him, or about him, regarding his present day endeavors, since he departed. Way back he supposedly worked at a gym or health club.
  22. It also has a very stong pungent taste, that even smothered in butter, won’t mask.
  23. BecomingMe I can only imagine the trauma you have gone through, and continue to deal with in your life. And the fortitude and strength it had to take to finally break from the Way, and especially from your dad. I can only look back at myself after bring M&A and the trauma it dealt to me. However, in retrospect, it does not compare to what you have, and are probably, still experiencing. I hope you still enjoy a loving relationship with your siblings. Whenever I read of posts such as yours, I am so thankful GSC is still here. I seriously do not know what my life would be like if GSC had not been around 20 some years ago. My life was at such a low point, opening my eyes each morning was terrible. All the love I received from other greasers pulled me through it though. (Although some of the political arguments were quite intense, LOL).
