The Indian Nationalists desperately wanted the British out of India..

Gandi offered an argument (my paraphrase of it) "If they indeed DO leave, what are you going to do? Still live like the British? What's the point then of kicking them out, if life is going to go on the same as it was before?"

"ahem, well..."

:)

MOST offshoots espouse twi doctrine, with FEW changes..

I would say a person could walk into one of the meetings tomorrow, and you'd hear tongues with interpretation and prophecy, that sounds remarkably like a message one heard twenty years previously in twi.

They may call it a different name, but their classes have a remarkable similarity to pfal.

SOME of the offshoots have the same potential for abuse, and feature a head, authoritarian individual, or VERY FEW on a board.

So.. we've gotten rid of rosiebark, the loyster, and "he who never mixes his breads and vegetables"..

but what has fundamentally changed?

Note: I am not indiscriminately bashing offshoots here, or encouraging other posters to do the same. I did leave one option to politely do so if one wishes though..

:)

But I have actually witnessed some people choose option one. It was like they woke back up in twig somewhere..

Perhaps they liked the *lifestyle* sans rules, regs, and authoritarian *lordship*.

(Just a general observation, and as always --- my IMO). ;)

They had thier chance,The offshoots like thier power prestiege ect....

Jesus still said the greater the leader the greater the servant.Gee what a concept!!

Look at Ghandi a simple lifestyle,None of them(offshoots) want it simple heck they pattern it

after the vicsters der vey.We know that was never simple

only if they included rotten tomatos with the songbooks and bibles behind every pew..

I think this is a valid option.. maybe not tomatos as such..

but maybe something like "the believer's veto rights to deal with the ridiculous".

the guy up front getting too pushy, to authoritarian? I think you need a way to deal with nonsense in no uncertain terms..

I've pulled it out a time two... they look like they don't know what hit them..

hmm. suprised this isn't as popular as the other poll..

The one reason I won't go.. I honestly think that they are using the same set of tools to fix my "problems" that der vey tried to use. Same principles, same "keys"..

if it didn't work the first time around, why give somebody yet another exercise in futility?

If they begged for membership, and adopted beliefs radically different from twi

"could fix problems twi caused, or could not adequately address" would fit in this category.

I suppose if God was "calling me" to "join" I might give serious thought to doing so with just about any group out there. It would have to be more than just a "still small voice" calling me though. More like a loud booming voice -- a burning bush would be nice. I'm not sure why God would bother with "calling" me to join any group at this point in my life.

That's pretty logical..

I think the "still small voice" teaching got people to just go places and do things on a whim.

Oh.. just another thought..

"could fix problems twi caused, or could not adequately address" would fit in this category.

Sounds more like a psychiatrist, or some kind of analyst..

What might make an interesting poll is "are you involved in an offshoot and list the main ones with an "other" category for the rest.

I will admit that I have been involved with one here in Illinois since 1989 when the state defected en masse after Martindale's loyalty oath bit. Most of the time it's a blessing, sometimes there's the "didn't we leave that behind" attitude, and sometimes I think we're headed towards open revolt here.

open revolt..

:biglaugh:

The problem here, was that when anybody got the boot for not complying with the loyalty thingy, twi managed to expertly spin their version of it before I even knew anybody left. And I was so trusting.. "they" wouldn't exactly lie, would they?

One of my friends here has a good name for it: young and dumb.

and sometimes I think we're headed towards open revolt here.

I dunno.. if I started hearing teachings from "headquarters" about obedience, how "Gawd raises up leadership to BLESS his people..", and rebellion as the sin of witchcraft..

people separating people under the guise that "it's the bit T truth we oughter agree on"..

I'd run like hell.

I would say "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER" for one reason. I simply see no need in my life for it. It's not about being AGAINST something. To me, that's TWI logic. If someone asks of me, I should have a reason to do it. Some vague idea of "cause it's loving" is just more TWI. Do offshoots serve a purpose anymore? Anything that is just a reaction to something else seems destined to fade away.

Interesting.. the proportions are not too much unlike the other thread.

Maybe people can't stand the same menu.. even in a different restaurant.

*mr* linder. you may wish to forward the results of this little survey to "ms. big* as well.

Marking and avoiding dissatisfied customers, or those who contracted botulism isn't exactly gonna fix the menu..
